Tasty Mock Shark Fin Soup

At Food Town there are quite a few stalls that serve Mock Shark Fin soup but I chose to try this one because it had fish maw and mock shark fins in the soup.
The soup is clear and runny compared to the usual ones.
According to the shop, they have deliberately not added any starch to it.
It was crammed with so much Shitaake mushrooms, shredded chicken, Chinese ham, vegetarian shark fin and fish maw etc.
I found it a bit too salty otherwise it would have been perfect.
Finished with the lemon barley water which was not too sweet with a good tangy lemon flavour to it.

This joint comes from Macau and they specialize in desserts.I am not a fan of Asian desserts so obviously came here because the Kale themed dishes were worth trying.
They had Kale Rice, Kale dumplings, Kale Jelly and even Kale Cheesecake.
Ordered the Kale dumplings where there is a choice of vegetarian or pork.
I was tempted in ordering the vegetarian ones but then I thought pork would be tastier.
Boy was I naive in thinking that I would get fresh pork in Hong Kong.
The soup was good as there was no msg but the pork was not f r e s h but s m e l l y.
It must be normal getting meat that has gone off in Hong Kong I guess and it really ruins the Farm Direct brand that they are doing a crossover with.
Anyway, I'm forced not to eat meat these days because its just not e d i b l e!!
To be honest, I didn't finish it as I found a strand of h a i r which is obviously not mine in the dumplings.
After I paid, the lady Thanked me for coming so I Thanked her back for the strand of surprise in my soup which I gave back to her!

As I was still hungry went here for some dandan noodles.
It was just HKD30 a la carte which was pretty good.
When I got it, the presentation was rather poor, it was pale and weird.
What I didn't like was the minced pork which wasn't minced pork but pieces of disgusting fat.
This is the reason Hong Kong puts me off eating meat as you don't get real meat but strange stuff.
Next time, I will probably ask them to leave out the meat as it doesn't make any difference anyway.
It had coriander too which I will have to remember to request it left out.
It turns out the peanut stuff is at the bottom of the bowl so you have to mix it together.
Apart from the weird meat, the taste was quite good and the portion was big.
Do remember to look out for weird blue fibres which I got as well.

There two branches of Tsui Hang Village in Hong Kong, Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui.
I have only been to the one in CWB a few years ago and tried some of their CNY Pudding occasionally.
Went here over the new year and found out that Tsui Hang Village will be celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.
As well as that, Tsui Hang Village is michelin recommended hence the reason it is always packed with people so expect a noisy scene.
For the Chinese new year gathering, my friends decided to start it off lavishly so we had some great stuff!
Began with the Double boiled Abalone and fish snout soup in a mini papaya which was loaded with abalone and fish maw.
Next was the Wok seared cod fish in premium soy sauce.
This was my faovurite because I just love cod and it was crispy drenched in a delicious soy sauce glaze.
The Baked whelk stuffed with meat was rather filling.
The Deep fried crispy chicken topped with spring onion and soy sauce was a marriage two of my favourite ingredients, sping onions and soy sauce.
The Honey glazed BBQ Pork is a signature and evidently popular so it disappeared fast.
For something filling we had the Stir Fried Glass vermicelli which had delicate pieces of egg in it.
Finished with the Sweetened almond cream with egg white which is a classic Chinese dessert.

Went here a while ago and ordered the hot tea.
The taste was ok and there was a roasted tea taste but the weirdest thing was that they put hot tea in a sealed paper cup.
No way am I going to drink that with a straw.
The cup would implode when it cools so to be safe I peeled the lid off to drink it.

I was hungry one day and lost on what to eat in Central so went here as they had the Lasagna!!!
You get HKD10 off when you purchase a drink so either way you save money on the drink or lasagna whichever way you look at it.
Although I was expecting it to taste good but there was something special about it.
After tasting it carefully I realized it had LEAF CELERY (Chinese celery) which gave it that special crunch and taste as well as their finely chopped carrots.
The minced meat in it was fresh which was just perfect.

Previously tried the Roundhouse in Wanchai which was quite good so went to the Central Branch.The menu is a bit different and I was hoping they would serve some lemonade or milkshake being American but they didn't.
Anyway had the beef brisket which is like HKD100 for about 5 thin slices.
It was too fat for my liking compared to the pictures posted by others on SM.
The star of the show was the coleslaw which was very TART, I love stuff that is refreshing or drenched in vinegar.
The mac and cheese looked promising as they used proper mac and not ribbed mac.
Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was salty beyond belief so had to get it changed.
The second one was still salty but not as salty as the first but still unacceptable.
