I love Middle Eastern food especially Persian, Egyptian and Arabic which I eat a lot in London.
But in Hong Kong it is scarce unless you know where to look for it.
Recently discovered Casablanca so went there and was not disappointed.
Before I even mention about the food, the staff there are sooooooooooooo friendly and welcoming.
Went there for late lunch and they still had the a la carte menu and they told us not to rush on ordering or eating because they do not close in the afternoons.
I was relaxed and impressed by the setting as it was spacious, they even had big square tables so big groups or families can sit around it.
I am glad I visited before they start their buffet in April because I was there for some specific dishes.
On their menu, there is something for everyone because they have pizzas, Moroccon dishes and Middle Eastern Dishes.
Started with MACARONI BECHAMEL which does not sound Arabic but it is.
It is similar to Lasagna with a layer of bolognese in the middle but replaced with macaroni, however that day they didn't have macaroni so it was spaghetti.
Anyway, still delicious because it was creamy and not too heavy.
For chicken it was hard deciding between grilled wings and the Chicken Panne which is Egyptian.
I love fried chicken especially Middle Eastern ones like OH FOOD at North Point which packed up.
The Chicken Panne was thin fried Chicken Breasts in cutlet coating.
(I spotted some yummy Nandos Peri Peri sauce in the fridge which would go well with it or tomato ketchup is also good).
For the mains, it was also difficult as Middle Eastern Rice dishes are damn delicious so had trouble deciding on the Mandy Chicken or the Chicken Kabsa!
Ordered the Kabsa chicken.
The rice was moist, soft and fluffy in a rich sauce loaded with herbs.
On the side, there was some chicken soup.
The chicken was buried in the rice.
To accompany the rest of the mains, we had the Kofte (beef meatball) tangine that came in a thick tangy sauce which tasted like ratatouille with strong notes of bell peppers.
It came with bread which was perfect for soaking up the sauce.
You can also choose rice but I already had a rice dish which went fantastic with the rest of meatballs.
Definitely revisiting in April as I overheard about the buffet would should include a mix of everything from the menu.

Discovered this joint as I was walking over from the footbridge.
Tapa Room is part of the hotel and the front is so colourful with neon lights which look stylish at night and clearly stands out from the rest.
Took a look at the menu and it had all the usual tapas suspects.
The lady inside spoke English which instantly gave me confidence about this place and she knew her stuff as she has previously stayed in Spain before where her passion for Spanish food began.
You can sit inside or outside if you are having shisha.
Started with the sangria which was topped with finely chopped green apples and garnished with some rosemary.
There is syrup at the bottom which you mix together before you drink but as I was naughty I sipped the contents at the top and discovered it was to my liking as it was refreshing so I didn't mix it.
To be honest, the taste was pretty good without mixing the sweet layer at the bottom so perhaps I shall have it unsweetened next time because I do like it .
For the appetizer, had the slowed cooked octopus carpaccio which was topped with Gazpacho puree.
Gazpacho is actually a chilled Spanish soup served as a starter hence having it with the octopus slices made it extremely appetizing.
Next was the classic Tortilla de patata with an egg porn touch to it.
These days, there is an insta obsession with runny fillings hence the chef has made it slightly runny inside.
Every cube of potato is covered in vibrant runny egg yolk which makes it delicious as well as instaworthy.
After having two legit tapas, I knew the paella was going to great and it was.
The recipe is from Valencia and I loved it.
There was a fragrant rosemary taste in every mouthful of rice and the aioli sauce adds some silkyness to the rice which optional as it can be quite overpowering.
Finished with the Sangria Jelly which is a must!
It was loaded with diced strawberries and blueberries.
This dessert was so comforting because the sweetness of the berries and jelly were the same so it all worked in harmony.
Definitely coming back.

% Arabica had their first shop in Discovery Bay, then they relocated to TST Ferry.
Since then, it has been the Star at Star Ferry and more joints have opened in insta locations such Quarry Bay, Kennedy Town and one opposite PMQ due to open in a few months.
The menu offers a good choice of coffees.
For coffees, you get to choose regular milk, almond, soy or oat milk.
Had the oat milk Americano which is obviously very bitter because it is made by diluting espresso so it serves as a nice wake up to your day.
The sparkling lemonade was refreshing because it is made with freshly squeezed lemon without any artificial taste.
I appreciate the way it is slightly sweetened.
Definitely going to check out the new branch near PMQ and hope to see other branches pop up.

Walked past this joint many times but it was has been difficult to stop by for any joint along this road because the pavement is a narrow and annoying.
As it was hot today and I just couldn't be bothered to walk, stopped here for a drink.
Spotted the SIBERIAN CHAGA MUSHROOM which claims to lower cholesterol and blood sugar etc so decided to try it and see what it tastes like.
There is a Chaga mushroom in the cabinet which looks like a huge truffle!
The drink is served cold as it already made and stored in the fridge.
It basically tastes like your usual Chinese herbal tea but not so bitter and that's it.

Another newish joint in town serving Japanese curries and other stuff.
Had the mapo tofu which was too sweet for my liking and the spiciness levels were too spicy.
You also get miso soup and an appetizer just to make it look like a Japanese set, both not that tasty or memorable like other restaurants.

I love Cheese melon tea but quality varies at different branches as the ratio of tea to cheese cap is different.
Since I have had bad experiences with the cheese cap at HT, I shall go without next time.
It seems there is a bigger proportion of the cheese cap lately so they can give you less tea and it really doesn't taste good.

Had a craving for hummus recently but couldn't get it.
Went to an Indian Kebab joint in Tinhau recently and they had hummus a la carte for HKD35.
Ordered it and the guy wouldn't let me order it a la carte which was strange as it was on the menu.
Anyway, as I was at the Star Ferry, discovered Kebab & Curry which should be different to the one at Central Pier.
They had hummus on the menu so I ordered plain hummus.
I was quite lucky because the guy had just finished blending a batch of hummus in the mixer hence I was getting a fresh hummus
The hummus was really good, it was thick with a touch of cumin and you could taste a bit of lemon and grounded chickpeas etc.
