Despite being in Hanghau quite often, I haven't had time to try this but since this restaurant has been there for a year now and the queues have gone I finally decided to go.
It is located on the corner near Marks and Spencer and Muji.
The decor is modern yet with a twist of old school elements to it.
Obviously they specialize in casseroles aka Chinese claypot dishes.
There were two rice pot dishes that got my attention because of the creativity and simply it would taste quite different served in a pot.
The hainan chicken which is normally served in a plate was presented in a casserole.
The chicken and pickles were laid on top.
In terms of taste, it was super hot and the rice had more flavours because of the constant heat from the casserole forces aroma in it while you are eating. I loved the pickles as well as they were tart and not sweet like other restaurants.
The other rice pot had a Japanese twist to it, the rice for this one was more al dente so I liked it and there was a lovely matcha fragrance infused in every grain of rice but not too overpowering.
As well as the eel, there were dried Sakura shrimps which came it a crunch and briny flavour.
The eel was delicate and sweet brushed with Teriyaki sauce.
Last but not least was the traditional fermented red bean curd vegetable casserole.
This was the best fermented red beancurd vegetable casserole I have had as it was not sweet or oily and the red bean curd was strong.
It might be a bit strong for others but I think this is how it should taste.

[Review 7308] Easter cookies at [La Bohéme Bakery] @ La Bohéme Bakery

Spotted these cute Easter Cookies at La Bohéme Bakery.
There were Easter Eggs and Rabbits.
The rabbits looked a bit messed up as the rabbit eyes were not consistent or perhaps it was deliberate.
It was such a bummer I didn't take a picture as some were cross eyed, some were just weird.
Anyway got the Matcha Cookie which was much nicer and I thought I would match on some green tiles.
The cookie was thin and crisp with a slight buttery taste.
The icing sugar was quite good and complimented it nicely while the matcha flavouring wasn't too artificial.

I have always wanted to try this joint but they just serve regular coffee etc.
This time spotted Yuzu Mocha and Orange Mocha which were both captivating and made it hard to decide.
In the end chose the Yuzu because Orange mocha is rather common and you can imagine how it would taste.
The Yuzu Mocha was pretty good, it wasn't sweetened with a fragrant yuzu aroma to it and I think I could taste some savory notes to it as well.
Couldn't quite taste the chocolate but all good anyway.
Glad there is something new on the drink menu.
The environmentally friendly cups are quite stylish too.

As well as food in general, I love Vegetarian food.
When I found out about this joint, I decided to go and check it out even though there were no pictures on social media yet.
YEARS is located in SSP, the exact spot where NEW ORDER used to be.
Inside, you will find a modern setting and at the far end you will see cartons of OATLY on the shelf.
The current food menu which includes drinks.
Drinks menu:
Clearly the burger was my pick because of the Impossible Patty which came with my favourite iced Earl Grey Tea without any extra charges.
I have had so many Impossible burgers so far which were all good but this one is my favourite because it is simple and not overwhelmed by strong sauces.
I got to taste the Impossible patty properly which was paired with delicious cheese, balsamic and arugula leaves which all worked in harmony.
The Impossible patty was definitely beefy in taste and texture, it reminded me of eating sweetbread as it was quite velvety yet it had a lovely crispy edge where it got seared.
The bun they sourced was a good one as it was soft and pillowly without any sweetness.
The fries were to my liking as they were crispy on the outside and starchy in the middle.
Finished with iced Earl Grey which made my day as it had a lovely fragrant aroma that was not artificial and I appreciate how it wasn't sweetened by default.
I look forward to coming back as I'm sure they will have some new creations.

I am not quite sure how to react but the Chinese culture is always mocked for eating dogs especially in Chi Naaaaaa.
In UK people would always joke and ask if dog meat was served in Chinese Takeaways and restaurants.
When I saw dog on the menu from the flyer I decided to check it out and it didn't really say what it was.
There were bunnies as well which looked like they had German measles.
Well, pretty realistic and they look like a newborn foetuses wobbling about.
Ok, so it wasn't a real pup but some pudding!
Also had the golden abalone ingot which was just jelly with sweetcorn and abalone in it,.
The fish was quite good as it was topped with black bean sauce.
Unfortunately, you get charged tea per person which comes in the form of tea bags with a jar of hot water.

Hong Kong is a small place yet you can practically find almost every cuisine here.
Went to Pivo Czech Bar as I have not had many Czech dishes before.
Czech cuisine is influenced by the countries surrounding it like Germany and Austria.
As well as Czech dishes, there was quite a variety of other dishes to go for so we ordered a mix of other dishes as well.
*************
Started with the tacos which had a slight Japanese twist to it with nori tempura as a base.
There were three to choose from: smoked salmon, beef or eel!
Pivo Salmon Nori Taco:
It was pretty good because I love nori tempura and it had some orzo on it so this was quite an appetizing teaser to start with.
*************
We had two salads, the Irish Crab Soba Salad and the Pomelo shrimp salad.
Both were good but as a carbs person I liked the soba as it was filling dressed in Japanese style creamy sesame sauce.

Irish Crab Soba Salad:
*************
Snack Platter: Wings, Spiced Watermelon, Achiote Tuna and Truffle fries
The snack platter was good for sharing.
The wings were spicy and crispy and the watermelon was topped with my favourite feta cheese, while the tuna was slightly spicy.
*************
Classic Monte Cristo Sandwich:
Again I picked this as you don't see many places offer it.
Monte Cristo is American and it is basically a fried ham and cheese sandwich!!
This one had a poached egg on top which made it even more delicious with the runny egg yolk.
*************
USDA Striploin 10oz with peppercorn gravy and bacon:
Although the beef was the star of the show, my eyes lit up on the bacon which was crispy all the way through!
*************
The Bohemian Goulash Mac & Cheese wasn't very cheesy but nice and hearty with chunks of beef in it.
Conchiglie is used as stated on the menu.
*************
The Mussels in Beer were plump and soft.
*************
For dessert we had the Dutch Babies!
There are three Dutch Baby Pancakes to choose from: Original, berries and apple and cinnamon.
Each flavour was good in different ways, the original was just simple and satisfying while the berries had a lovely mascarpone cream topping and the apple on would satisfy any sweet tooth.
Overall a great place to hang out with lots to choose on the menu.

A while ago I was given a flyer when they opened but just didn't make it.
Was bored one afternoon after running nearby so decided to give it a visit.
Rabbit Rabbit Tea is a tea joint from Taiwan.
Obviously being called Rabbit Rabbit Tea, there was visible effort that it was rabbit themed unlike this other lame tea house called BEAR TEA which just has bear logos on the cups.
The drinks menu was much better than anticipated.
They had smoothies, lattes, teas etc.
Buckwheat latte was something they offered and other places don't so had that. There was a plain buckwheat tea available but I prefer it with milk as buckwheat is very strong on its own.
The straw had a cute rabbit nose attached which makes it memorable as well as functional since it stops the straw from slipping into the cup.
The taste was just as good as expected as the milk mellowed the taste of the buckwheat and it was like drinking malted milk from Vitasoy.
The lady Earl Grey was also good as it was very aromatic and fragrant in a natural way.
