Crystal balls filled with fruit
2019-04-06 19 瀏覽
A few years ago, I tried these crystal balls filled with mango at tin yin dessert in cheung chau which has probably packed up now.Recently, they appeared again in a dessert shop in MK with other fruits options.
As well as these cute crystal balls, they have these photo worthy smoothies.
The only complaint is that the menu isn't very descriptive so you have to guess or ask what fruit is in each drink.
Eg if it was purple, it could be blueberry or purple sweet potato, same with the green, it could be avocado or green tea which is annoying as you have to ask.
Anyway, the crystal balls were impressive as they had durian, dragonfruit etc.
Tried the crystals balls with fruit and grass jelly.
As expected it was pretty and delicious.
Also got extra durian crystals balls but they were a bit too sweet.
The smoothies fared better especially the avocado and kiwi.
It was not too sweet.
The blueberry one was quite sweet but you could taste delicious yoghurt mixed into it and I loved the pretty latte art on top.
Will definitely be back.
I hope this trend will get to other countries as the fruit in Hong Kong is just boring, all you get is watermelons, kiwis and dragonfruit whereas we get berries etc.

There are some nice lunches at this place and it is served until 5pm so you can have a long lunch.
The environment is quite spacious as it is a hot pot place in the evening.
There is another branch in TST which serves better quality of food but the environment here is more relaxed.
This time had the laksa and scrambled egg with chicken.
The laksa was very bland without the spiciness but you could still taste that it was laksa.
The scrambled egg fared better but the presentation looked like..
Definitely delicious because the scrambled egg complimented the rice and on top of that you get an egg yolk too.
Drinks are the usual.

Tried this place as I was in the area, mainly because it was cheap!Noodles cost under HKD28 and snacks are around HKD23
I was interested in the noodles because they are milled by this stone thing according to the poster.
There were some other interesting items like grilled fish in wine or something but it was all in Chinese.
I thought the star of the show were the ribs which I have previously tried in something restaurant but the ribs were not as good as that place.
The ribs were sweet and the texture was not soft and they did not come off the bone.
The noodles were just noodles, the broth was strangely sweet but then all Chinese foods are sweet.
All I recommend is probably the ribs.

Modern Thai Eatery

On this stretch of road, there are two Thai joints opposite each other, one is traditional while this one had a modern look to it with cabinets of pork scratching at the entrance.
Both joints are owned by the same owner as the staff seem to go back and forth.
The menu was simple
The Decor:
They had my favourite pandan desserts.
0 讚好
Settled for the Hainan Chicken and Boat Noodles.
I loved the rice because it was really fragrant and the chicken was tender as well.
The boat noodles were more of a surprise as the pork slices were fresh.
It is really difficult to get fresh pork these days and the broth was strong and sweet.
The noodles were a bit sticky though.
The side of pork scatchings were crunchy and addictive especially when it soaked the soup.
For drinks had the Thai Coffee and Lime Soda.
Will be back to try the restaurant opposite.

Wing Nin in Causeway Bay

Wing Nin Started off in Yuen Long and now they have branched into the City.
They opened their second branch in TST and they are in Causeway Bay.
The location in Causeway Bay is much better and caters for the crowd there.
Although I haven't tried their flagship store in YL, my experience at TST was very salty.
There are new items on the menu such as tossed noodles and cold brew tea so I was obviously here for the tea as I didn't have any expectations for the noodles.
Tried noodles with a choice of toppings.
This time the broth and toppings were not overly salty but strangely it was very sweet especially for the blood curds which is strange.
Their signature spicy sauce is sweet as well as spicy.
The star of the show was the egg which was runny in the middle.
The cold brew teas were fantastic.
There is a choice of oolong or Jasmine so tried both.
I was expecting oolong to taste better but Jasmine fare better.
