Gimmicky dimsums

Obviously came here for the gimmicky dimsums.
A friend was waiting for me so I got a takeaway as there is no point both going in and getting charged for tea.
[took the photos there as you can't trust dimsums to stay in shape after a journey]
Saying that, the dimsums were all stuck together and the skin broke for every one of them.
Apart from the poor quality, the taste was good except for the wasabi as it was sweetened.
Will try the Kowloon City branch to see if it is any better.

A while ago they had Hiroshima oyster ramen so decided to go there for it but as it was new year it was closed.By the time everything was back to normal, I didn't get time to come here.
Unfortunately when I did make it, it was a different ramen so had that instead.
Had the fish ramen which was good but definitely not as good as the oyster.
The grass is always greener on the other side.
Hopefully they will serve the oyster ramen again.

A while ago this drinks joint was doing online promotion for the KH store but it was too far so didn't quite make it.
Their drinks are instaworthy because fruit slices are put on the sides of the plastic cup to contrast the drink.
Anyway, stopped by for some snacks and a drink as it was pretty empty.
The only food they had was the cheese and ham toastie so had that.
Didn't have any expectations as it was just the usual processed cheese with ham pressed together in the toaster.
Ideally I should have got those fruit smoothies but I just felt like some simple tea that day.
It came in a big cup as well and had to be specially requested as I didn't want any sugar or cheese cap.
Might return if I am in the area.

[Review 7350] Super Hidden Veg menu @ PizzaExpress

Super Hidden Veg menu
Last year, found out that Pizza Express were launching some vegetarian dishes so decided to give it a visit.
Normally I go Pizza Express in London where it all started, then tried it when it came to Hong Kong.
Not long, the menu was localized hence I never went back.
Anyway, after shopping at USelect went here for dinner.
Was browsing through the menu and couldn't find the vegetarian dishes.
Perhaps they had changed the menu again as the promotion was last year, just as I had made up my mind to order I found the damn menu booklet little hidden underneath the front of the back cover so had to decide again.
Couldn't find the planted based pizza because found out that is for the Singaporean PE.
Ordered the omnipork fusilli, you can personalize your pasta so changed it to spaghetti.
Funnily when it came, there wasn't any omnipork so they had to recook it.
According to the menu, this is what is in the dish:
Omnipork the plant-based pork alternative, flavoured with fennel and water chestnut. Served with garlic, chili flakes, button mushrooms and rocket
The taste was great with a spicy kick but couldn't quite taste the fennel and water chestnuts or see any of the button mushrooms.
The ravioli was good but a bit oily and too salty.
Avoiding the local pizzas, I felt the pastas were slightly better and the salad we had was great.
The avocados were ripe and the lemon dressing had a proper lemon tang to it unlike sweet lemon dressing at other restaurants.
For drinks, had the smoothie which is said to not contain any sugar but it tasted horribly sweet not the fault of the restaurant but the apple they used were naturally sugary and starchy.
Finished with the apple tortino which was really good and got 30% off it as friend was wearing orange.
The sweetness of that was normal and not as irritating as the juice.

Not really a fan of noodles but discovered this restaurant after I was dining nearby.
I was captivated by the WEDDING NOODLES!!
Perhaps it could be a translation glitch but who cares, the idea of wedding noodles are cool, maybe they will get famous for it one day.
As well as wedding noodles, you get a choice of soup bottoms as stated on the menu.
Choice of soup bottoms:
Probably tastier than knickers.
This noodle joint has been visited by ex ATV star Lawrence who is now a professional golfer.
Chinese blurb on these noodles.
Started with the seaweed soup which was served boiling with the usual boiling bubbles on the surface.
I think this is how the food is shamshuipo is hygienic as all noodles are served past boiling point so that any germs are killed.
The star of the show were the wedding noodles, just like wedding the brides the noodles were pure white like the dress.
It was good the spring onions and peanuts are served on the ladle.
The dumplings were big and plump and the fishcakes were panfried nicely but contained grounded bones.
The soup was light so it was quite healthy but if you want stronger broths or soup bottoms as the menu suggests, you can opt for tomato, hot and sour or the Sichuan broth.
As it was my first time trying wedding noodles, I chose the plain broth to see how these noodles taste.
Basically they are a bit like Yunnan rice noodles but much fatter and softer.
Overall, been there and done that trying wedding noodles.

I noticed this joint a while ago serving cheap vegetarian burgers but didn't get a chance to try it as I was having chicken opposite.
Since I was in the area again, decided to check it out.
Used to work this area but unfortunately this place wasn't around then, it was more Chinese restaurants a while back.
The toilet sign is quite cool as aliens are welcome as well.

Tried all three vegetarian burgers: chicken, beef and fish.
The difference here is that they use Chinese style vegetarian meat patties in the burger.
The chicken was the best as it comes with juicy pineapple and a fiery sauce.
The second best was the fish as usually it is served with gravy Chinese style but it was different eating as a burger.
It would be great if there was some tartar sauce or mayonnaise.
The beef burger (Vegetarian) was a nice simple combination as you would expect with black pepper and cheese.

They all taste different in unique ways.
Quite a good deal as we had three burgers and the bill was under HKD170.

Decided to try out can.teen on a Sunday when all the office people have buggered off.As expected it was quieter.
It was my first time there as I would expect can.teen to be the usual local crap like mx, cdc and fairwood etc but this one was slightly different as they serve Earl Grey and other teas.
Perhaps the other branches of can.teen do but I haven't checked them out.

Something on the menu got my attention,
The chips looked orange.

In Chinese it said {kayjun} so it sound like a Chinese pronunciation for CAJUN even though it just said fries on the English.
Ordered the wings and kayjun fries out of curiosity.
To be honest, I didn't have any expectation for the wings as most wings in hk are just dry and anorexic.

The quality of the wings were amazing, succulent and springy and not anorexic.
They were not too salty either.
The fries were flavoured but the cajun wasn't that apparent but better than boring fries.
I also appreciated the nice plate they used and the choice of having other teas as opposed to the unpalatable HK style milk tea.
Will definitely return as the quality of the food that normally looks crap actually looked edible here.
