Refreshing yuzu pudding

My foodie friend got me this Not just the yuzu pudding but the fuji cake as well.
I loved the yuzu pudding as it was smooth and silky with pieces of yuzu in it,.
The mount fuji cake is a cake with icing to make it look like the snow on mount fuji.
I really liked the icing which gave the cake the overall sweetness and the piece of chocolate shavings on top.
Obviously she knew I liked chocolate

When I first heard of this brand, it reminded me of barrafina in UK.
Sugarfina is actually a confectionery brand from USA.

There are now two branches in Hong Kong, Harbour City and IFC.
The one at Harbour City is not that accessible because it is not close to the MTR station or the ferry, while the ambiance in Kowloon is crap so it's not fun holding a drink in your hand with lots of people walking past.
Went to the Central branch where Grom used to be.
It was really difficult deciding which drink to get especially the cold drinks which are served in a plastic cocktail shaker.
On closer inspection, the cocktail shakers are reusable but it won't last for long as they are not made for long term use which is understandable.
For the hot drinks, there was charcoal popcorn latte, red velvet hot chocolate and honey lemon latte.
The first two I could imagine how it would taste so got the third.

There was a slice of lemon on top floating on whipped cream.
It was good how the whipped cream separated the lemon slice from the drink so the drink wouldn't go bitter because of the rind.
I loved it because it tasted like a lightly sweet lemon meringue drink so I am so glad I chose this.

When I went past this joint, I thought it was the proper MW but it turns out to be a small joint that dares to call them MW.
Anyway, settled for the galangal ginger chicken with spring onions and rice.
The chicken was quite chunky but it was very oily, it also had some black pepper pieces in it which didn't go with the ginger.
Luckily the rice beneath was not drenched in oil.
It was nice that they gave you lots of vegetables like cabbage but they were not soft enough and there were some frozen peas and carrots.
Regretted not ordering the noodles.
Was also given some miso soup which turned out to be the best thing and there were lots of kelp in it,

Finally HM is here!
This is one of the joints I was hoping to be here after QQRice packed up.
Tried the vegan spicy minced meat which is similar to the Thai Minced pork with basil but with a touch of sweetness.
There was quite a bit of filling in it as well as I was really satisfied.
Basically everything is damn good from here and I appreciate the vegan choices that they serve especially when you don't feel like eating meat that day.
HM is here to stay and hope they expand overseas!

I have always wanted to go to that singers XLB joint in SSP but unfortunately it closed down. They used to have all these colourful dumplings.
Anyway, the old shop is still there so went there for the omnipork XLB.
As well as the XLB, there are other omnipork options on the menu:
When they came, they looked so perfect from the folds to the way it was steamed.
I think I was lucky in the sense that not many people order it so they were freshly made.
Inside, there was some broth in it and it was filled with courgettes and omnipork.
It was not overly salty so it was healthy.

Sadly there are some changes in this alley. There is a new coffee shop as well as a Chinese joint.
Funnily enough the Chinese joint dares to call itself MW.
Tried the coffee place which is such a gem with unusually good decor but then coffee shops are looking for every nook and cranny to stand out.
Ordered the ordinary Earl Grey but I was impressed with the fancy coffees and even Chinese teas they had as well as a cute mini muffin.
I definitely got a surprise when it came as it was served in Chinese style as displayed which I thought was only for the Chinese tea.One of the taller cups are for smelling and the bigger serves like the jug to pour into the smaller.
The notes of the Earl Grey tea were different just like Chinese tea when you drink the different rounds.
The second round was strangely fruity.
More pictures to be posted later.

[Review 7357] Stingy compared to other photos @ 水門雞飯 Water Gate Chicken Rice

I have always wanted to try Water Gate Chicken from Thailand.
They now have two branches in Hong Kong so went to the TST one as Taipo is damn far.
Ideally, you should go to Taipo because the prices are cheaper according to someones review.
I was captivated by the piece of blood jelly that you get with the chicken and the fact they serve fried chicken as no other Thai joint in HK has it.
Ordered the combo which had everything, ie the giblets, fried chicken and the poached chicken.
The soup and sauces arrived first and then there was a few minute gap before the main came.
Rice:
Too clumpy and soft, the clumpy rice was hidden beneath.
Fried Chicken:
Only got 3 pieces compared to other pictures showing four.
In terms of taste, it was really good as the chicken was moist but there was as slight oily aroma to it.
Chicken Giblets:
Was only given one piece of bloody jelly compared to 2 other photos. (Kimmicheuk ).
The chicken liver was an utter disappointment as it wasn't fresh.
Freshly cooked chicken liver should have some yellowish colour to it but it was just grey and tasteless without the sauce.
If you have had fresh chicken liver before you should know what it tastes like and it should be tasty on its own.
Poached chicken:
The poached chicken was really good, it was lean and silky.
No red bits of veins included.
I didn't really need the sauces as the chicken was tasty but tried the sauces anyway and they were sweet and spicy.
The sauce I liked the most was the yellow chili vinegar.
