2019 Kee Wah Zhongzhi

The Zhongzhis at Kee Wah Bakery are delicious as well as healthy.
My favourite one was the oats and chestnuts because it was healthy.
The taste for this was rather neutral as it wasn't too sweet or savoury.
The one with red braised pork with pickled vegetables was full of flavour especially the pickled vegetables.
Mandarin peel and red beans are always a good pairing so it was good to see that filling inside the zhongzhi.

I don't know how long this gem has been here but longer than I have because the first picture/review on openrice dates back to 2008 so it could be longer. The amazing thing is that it has stayed in the same spot but the rolls probably cost slightly cheaper back then.
Shanghai sticky rice rolls are basically rolls made of sticky rice filled with Chinese cruellers, pickles and meat floss.
There was a similar thing called QQRICE years ago which sadly packed up.
I really recommend this place because they use different rices whereas other Shanghai joints in Hong Kong use plain glutinous rice.
They do vegetarian rice rolls an d snacks.
Tried the vegetarian one and the purple rice (not vegetarian).
Both were impressive because they were crammed with lots of filling and it wasn't too salty.
The meat floss they used was good because it wasn't too sweet.
If only I had discovered this earlier.

[Review 7458] Fantastic beef grill @ 和牛燒肉‧純 Japanese Wagyu Yakiniku Pure

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/fantastic-beef-grill-e3423570
There are two branches of Yakiniku Pure but decided to go the one in TST as it was quieter.
They serve quality Wagyu Beef which you grill to eat.
The best thing about it is that you can grill it to your preference.
As well as beef, we had salad and rice to go with it.
The menu is really good as it shows you which part of the beef it is in English, Chinese and Japanese.
The beef we ordered:
My friend loves beef so we ordered the Japanese Prime rib eye, Premium wagyu karubi, Japanese prime Karubi and ox tongue.
The good thing about these grills is that you can grill to your preference.
We ordered a good variety as all the cuts were very different.
My favourites were the wagyu karubi, the premium literally melts in your mouth while the premium wagyu karubi is similar but less oily.
Overall, the beef was fantastic with a dash of salt.
Will definitely try their other branches.

MEN-YA TAKEICHI has many branches all over the world!
They now have a branch in TST but are in teething stages because when I went there were only 2 staff there including the ramen chef and restaurant staff.
Some of the items were sold out.
It was good that konjac ramen was on the menu so that people on a carbs diet can appreciate ramen as well.
The menu is basically chicken broth with shio, miso, shoyu or Spicy so tried miso and shio.
Both the shio and miso were good.
The shio had a strong chicken broth flavour while the miso was not as heavy because it isn't as creamy as the shio.
Even though it wasn't bad, I felt that it would be fairer to comment at a later stage when they are fully staffed.
Shio:
Miso:
For snacks had the grilled chicken and unagi.
Overall, it is worth trying as they have so many branches globally but best to go when it is running smoothly.

[Review 7456] Modern Dimsums @ 滿軒新派粵菜 Mun Hin Chinese Fusion Cuisine

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/modern-dimsums-e3421432
I love modern dimsums because they are more presentable and possibly taste better.
At Mun Hin, the decor is modern and I love the blue theme.
Started with the Dried fruit peel and pu er tea which was fragrant.
Normally I won't choose pu er but the fruit peel gives it a lovely flavour.
The older the fruit peel the better.
For starters had the crispy pigeon which was so different to the ones I have had before.
The pigeon was crispy and it has been marinated in wine before it had been cooked hence the lovely aromatic flavour.
Next were the sliced trotter which are normally paired with jellyfish but here they come with FISH MAW!!!!
It only costs HKD68.
The sesame oil and the fish maw go surprisingly well together and the sliced trotters were nice and lean infused with wine.
For dim sum, we had the goldfish, carrot shaped fried dumplings, crispy turnip cake and the Tai chi sponge cake.
My favourite was the Tai Chi sponge which was made with charcoal.
It was soft and fluffy yet not too cloyingly sweet.
Finished with the squid ink pasta which was cooked Chinese style.
It was much lighter for the palate as it was cooked in oyster sauce which really brings out the squid flavours in the pasta.
All ended well with the Serradura pudding.
Overall, I liked the Western and Chinese fusion that was brought together in creating theses dishes.

I love the donburis by Toyosu Suisan so decided to go again but when I got there they have re-branded themselves as 246 Canteen which also serves Donburis.
246 is even better, you get casual Japanese fare with quality.
The menu is simple, items are priced HKD20, HKD40 and HKD60.
The donburi was even better than before because you get to customize and choose your favourites.
My beloved salmon roe and Maguro were there so I picked those!
I also ordered extra onsen egg salmon roe for the donburi because egg yolk and rice taste so damn good together.
As well as donburi, I ordered the eel sushi and sashimi.
The eel was huge and instaworthy.
The sashimi was thickly sliced and the price is the same as it would be for donburi which is good.
The mussels in sake were rather strong for me because they use REAL SAKE and not watered down sake!
