Knife cut noodles

Went here randomly.
They specialize in knife cut noodles so tried the knife cut noodles with dandan sauce.
Unfortunately it was a super hot day which made it difficult to eat noodles.
The noodles kept slipping from the chopsticks.
Overall not my cup of tea as the noodles were not really tasty so next time I am going to try the rice.

Went here for a gathering as iSquare is nice and quiet on the weekdays.
On this visit, the star of the show was the pigeon in Huadiao wine.
It was such much nicer than the drunken chicken and recently I discovered that there are two main Chinese wines used for cooking which are shaoxing and huadiao.
Huadiao is better because it is much subtle.
Anyway the drunken pigeon was so damn good because it tasted like Marks and Spencers liver pate which has wine in it and pigeon tastes like goose so it was tasty.
The soup was quite nice as it was clear and loaded with Chinese herbs.
The chilled fish was a bit fishy.
Not as tasty as my when I last tried it.
For Shanghai classics had the XLB, glutinous dumplings and Soy milk.

Hotpots have always been a masculine thing in HK.
[Beauty In the Pot] is pink and girly!!
It is a great place to go with your besties for a fun time.
They have private rooms and a children's play area so kids can be entertained as well.
Sauces are a must for hotpots and they have an impressive range.
There is a recipe for different sauces which you can experiment with.
Ordering is simple with the digital menu which is clear and easy to use.
The signature collagen soup was creamy and loaded with red dates.
I definitely recommend drinking the soup before putting anything in.
All the ingredients are fresh and my favourite is the blood jelly.
To nibble on was the crispy egg salted fish skin which are so addictive.
The noodles go well in the spicy soup and they have a nice chew to it.
Definitely coming back but a bit later as I am waiting for the Signature Homemade Tofu Fish as this is one of the famous items in Singapore!!

Zero One Coffee & Roastery is a nice hideout but the only thing is that it closes early.
There is a good variety of drinks and bites.
I love the tea here which is served in a pot so it keeps hot for a while.
Had the Jasmine tea which was nice and light but if you steep it for a bit you get a stronger taste.
Enjoyed my time here so will be back if I am in the area.

I have always wanted to try YXD in TKO but I didn't know where it was even though I knew it was in some hotel near Popcorn.
Finally found it so went there for hotpot.
We picked lots of vegetable dishes and the snow fungus was the best as you get a whole one.
The luncheon ham is ready to eat as it has been fried. Each piece was thickly sliced and crispy.
For the broth had the usual silkie chicken and herbs and the beauty pot.
The silkie chicken was really tasty and nourishing so be sure to eat it soon before it gets over cooked in the pot!!
Also had the ducks blood, assorted mushrooms and spicy dumplings.
Overall, the hotpot is consistently good at all the branches I have been but the toilet here is in such a state and needs attention because they are in a hotel.

[Review 7480] Go for the seafood, not the pasta @ Trattoria del Pescatore Hong Kong

Trattoria del Pescatore Hong Kong

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/go-for-the-seafood-not-the-pasta-e3427599
Trattoria del Pescatore is a must go restaurant for quality seafood but we ordered the pastas which turned out to be a complete disaster!
Started with the bread which was simply amazing.
I loved the balsamic vinegar for the bread because it was different.
The consistency of it was like thick sauce.
Started with the pistachio crusted scallop which was slightly overdone and it was quite oily at the bottom.
Next was the romanesco, again it was quite oily at the bottom.
The reason I ordered the pasta was the Bottarga and Salmon Roe.
Had it changed to Angel Hair but I didn't expect them to over cook it.
The angel hair was so soft that the strands stuck together and they lacked elasticity and broke.
Again, there was so much oil dripping from it.
I was more confused when I told the guy the pasta was too soft and he said that's right because I requested for angel hair instead of linguine.
But as a chef, different pastas have different cooking times which I thought they would know.
Finished with the apple tart which was just the usual served with a scoop of icecream.
Dinner finished with a shot of Mirtle and cheese.
Overall, I don't recommend the pastas so go for the seafood.
The only reason I had pasta was the bottarga.

[Review 7479] Best Pastas in LCK @ Pici
01/06/2019
Pici 休息中
荔枝角長順街15號D2 Place二期地下G03號舖
Shop G03, G/F, D2 Place TWO, 15 Cheung Shun Street, Lai Chi Kok
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/best-pastas-in-lck-e3427351
Business is booming in Lai Chi Kok and so is the demand for good food!
Pici started off in Wanchai, Feb 2017 and now has five branches with the fifth branch in Lai Chi Kok.
Last week, they were doing a pasta giveaway but unfortunately I had other plans that day.
I like the way, all the branches are the same with an alfresco bar, dining area and a bar table where you can watch the pasta chefs make the pasta.
The menu at Lai Chi Kok is slightly different.
Green Ravioli and Tuna Tartare are exclusive at this branch while the popular favourites like truffle pasta, meatballs and tiramisu are all on the menu.
Started with the Sicilian Surprise which was a vibrant sweet start with citrus flavours.
Green Ravioli [LCK exclusive at the moment]:
The green ravioli was new and I love ravioli so tried it.
It has broccolini, peas and asparagus which were all my favourites.
The ravioli was fresh with the crunch of the vegetables topped with ricotta which gave it the saltiness.
My friend had the lunch because you get salad and a dessert.
The truffle pasta was on the lunch menu so how could you not order it for HKD148!!!
Radicchio Salad [Part of the Lunch Set]:
There were so many options to choose from ranging from Hams to Burrata cheese but we chose the Radicchio salad which was healthy and light topped with delicious hazelnuts and tangy vinegar.
Taglioni with shaved fresh truffle [Part of the Lunch Set]:
Less is more and this was simply delicious because it was just freshly made pasta with freshly shaved truffle and truffle sauce.
The pasta was silky yet al dente.
Tiramisu [Part of the Lunch Set]:
For dessert, the Tiramisu is a must as it is thick and creamilious.
PICI's Tiramisu is unique as the mascarpone is visually yellow like custard and it tastes so delicious with the soaked layers of ladyfingers.
With freshly made pasta, PICI never fails to impress.
