Hana Musubi at Tai Koo

Taikoo is a rather depressing place for food but luckily there are now two branches of Hana Musubi at Tai Koo.
One at the MTR station which opened a few years ago and this new one.
Spotted the new shop as it was right opposite the tram station when I passed by a few weeks ago.

Had the Crab Paste musubi which is one of the new JUNE flavours.
I thought the pairing of mayonnaise and crab paste was strange because mayonnaise is creamy while crab paste is strong.

Luckily, the crab paste was prominent and the mayonnaise was light, otherwise it would be too sickly.
The colour of the crab paste filling wasn't as green/grey as anticipated.

Cold Brew tea

With all these drinks joints in Hong Kong, I feel like a guy going through red light district being approached by hookers.
Apart from a few favourites, each new joint I try is like a one night stand with no return.
Tea eighteen was a little different, I got the cold brew.
When she gave me the drink, she said I could add water to the teabag when I finished to make more tea.
Not the end of the story yet, she said if I bring the finished bottle back I could get a fresh tea bag for HKD10 in return!!
To be honest, the tea was a bit bland but when I added hot water to it, the tea flavour came out and tasted better.

Shaomai Prince is popping up everywhere.I was in the area so couldn't resist getting some shaomai from this joint because they are freshly made.
There is a table opposite so you can eat stuff that is bought from these joints.
I got the mixed shaomai for HKD20, there were 4 black and 4 originals.
They tasted great with the chili sauce but the soy sauce wasn't that nice because it was too sweet.
Overall, the black remains my favourite as it has pieces of squid in it.

Real Fruit Teas

Almost every shop on this street sells tea so you have to be competitive to survive. There are a few drinks joints that have packed up such as Thailax only to be replaced by another drinks joints.

I was captivated here by the fresh pineapple tea because I love pineapples.

It doesn't really have an English name but luckily it has instagram so it can be called WANCHIT according to the IG name.

As well as fruit tea, you have the standard stuff like milk caps etc.

Got the pineapple tea and fruit tea.

The pineapple tea was as good as expected but too sweet so zero sugar or 30% is probably the best choice.
Will definitely be back for the pineapple and not have sugar on the next visit.

Sandwich that will make you come!!!

A while ago I saw pictures of this sandwich joint with their famous slogan:
"sandwich that will make you come" which got me curious.
I thought it was a sandwich hub serving a wide variety of sandwiches but it turns out to be a Vegetarian Indian joint that serves more than sandwiches.

Discovered it one evening when I wasn't looking for it so decided to go in and try something.
It was really hard deciding what to order as everything was tempting.
In the end I had the Cheese toast.

The toast is made with Amul cheese which tastes just as good as cheddar with a curd like texture similar to cottage cheese.
It is crispy and thin so you taste more of the cheese and they give you this orgasmic green sauce which is slightly spicy made with ginger, coriander, chili and some secret stuff.

Also tried the cheese chili which was just as good loaded with vegetables and the cucumbers in it were delicious.

Overall, their sandwiches were delicious so I glad I tried it.
Everything here is Vegetarian and Jain by request.
Will definitely be coming back.

Discovered Zentro after dining at AHA a few weeks ago.
It was formerly located at the IFC for a long 19 years before they relocated here.

They have long lunches which start from 12pm to 8pm which is great if you are hungry during the off peak hours.
As well as lunches, the menu had a good variety ranging from Japanese fare to Indian food.
Obviously the Japanese and grilled skewers would be a good pick but I had too much of that lately and I love Indian food so chose the Chicken tikka and the bavette steak.
The reason why I chose the bavette steak was that is was Tandoori style ie marinated with Tandoori spices which you won't find elsewhere.

At the far end is where they grill the stuff.

Steak:
I loved the steak, but not so much the cut because the Tandoori flavours made it really tasty.
The spices were evenly rubbed on the meat and it was grilled to perfection.
The fries that came with it very crispy with a cajun touch to it.

Curry:
The chicken tikka came with Basmati rice, poppadoms so it was the complete curry experience.
It was quite a fiery curry which was complemented by the yoghurt to cool it down.

Overall the food was impressive and there was so much to choose from which makes it worthy for another visit.

[Review 7497] Late night drinks and desserts in Central @ 飲吧 Drink Puppet

Girls will always have a sweet tooth and room for dessert after dinner.
At Drink Puppet, it is clearly successful as they have desserts as well drinks.
Central simply lacks a dessert shop and DRINK PUPPET has filled the gap serving Chinese and Western desserts.

The joint is pink and girly so definitely the place to hang out before or after the a meal and they open till 1:30am.

Stylish neon pink logo:

Instaworthy pink corner with pink cushions:

Bar Table:

Pink Drinks vending machine:

There were so many drinks and desserts to choose from so tried the signature items since they highly recommended it.
Started off with the Pink Sakura Latte which was dreamy with a subtle Sakura flavour without being too sweet.

Next was the Rose Lychee Waffle tart cup.
Rose and Lychee always pair together well with its fragrant sweet scent and it is nice how it was presented in this crispy waffle tart cup topped with pieces of lychee.

The Sakura with cherries souffle pancake is another recommended item because the souffle pancake is soft and fluffy topped with Sakura cream and quality cherries.

Moving on to the Chinese dessert was the red beans soup with aged fruit peel and milk foam.
There are two to choose from 10 years and 100 years, the older the better.
I was really impressed with the 10 year one as it was strong and just as good as the aged one I tried a while ago.
The best thing is the milk foam on top which makes the beans light and fluffy when you mix it together.
Definitely the best red bean dessert I have ever had as the thick milk foam and aged fruit peel made it heavenly.
As well as red beans, they also have pomelo mango and almond soup.

Can't wait to come back soon!
