Not really my thing but tried it anyway.
Tried the five spice meat with noodle.
The fish shaomai is the usual stuff made with flour so it is just eating chewy pieces of flour wrapped in yellow pastry.
The five spice meat was definitely canned stuff which was hard and dry, but nicely spiced.
The noodles were Indomie which you can just taste by that tell tale sweet sauce it was in.

Omakase with skewers

Most omakases involve sushi and sashimi but at Mokutan they serve skewers which are my thing!!!!
As well as skewers they have fine sakes.
To begin with the appetizer was a good start with rolled up spinach, sweet sea snails and starchy pumpkin.
For skewers, all of them were grilled to perfection:
Grilled pork belly skewers with shisho leaves:
0 讚好
Minced chicken on stick with onsen egg.
This was good but the mince didn't hold together well.
0 讚好
Grilled chicken heart:
Vegetables:
0 讚好
Grilled semi cured fourfinger threadfin fish:
This was the star of the show, lots of restaurants are offering this, the salted fish is delicate with a crispy grilled surface.
Bonito fish tataki :
The bonito fish was seared nicely and complemented well with the ginger puree.
Strangely it tasted like tuna but I liked it.
Last but not least was the Grilled tiger prawn, dashi rice soup:
It was filling and the broth had a rich prawn taste.

Dessert platter!!!

Went here randomly because I felt like some donburis.
As well as donburi, they had dessert and Hokkaido 8.0 soft serve.
For the donburis, you get to choose or pick the fixed donburis.
I love the flexibility so chose salmon roe and scallops which turned out quite good.
It comes with soup.
For the other donburi, chose the Fishermans one which was also surprisingly good because they put yuzu seasoning in it which makes it appetizing.
The eel looked instaworthy so got that as well.
The best thing was the dessert platter which only cost HKD99 and you get a raindrop cake, softserve, chocolate fondant, matcha warabi etc.
Overall a satisfactory dinner.

I love Donburis so came here as they were doing Teishoku lunches with soup and salad on the 8/F of Grand Place.
All lunches come with a modern twist as you get to choose drinks like Taiwanese teas and it comes with Chinese herbal soup and salad.
If you pay your bill before 13:00, you get 20% off.
The decor is half Japanese with a pub element.
I had the Salmon donburi which cost HKD68.
Salmon close up.
Strangely the salmon had water coming off it and it seemed off because the salmon tissue literally decomposed which you can see on the the fatty bits!
Overall, the eel fared better.
The eel donburi cost HKD88.
The texture of the eel was extremely springy.
Dessert was a surprise as it wasn't on the menu.
The dessert was so damn good, it was chocolate pudding which tastes like the stuff you can make at home so it was very comforting.
If you have never tried a strawberry slush puppy from UK, the strawberry tea is recommended as it tastes just like that.
Definitely recommended if you are in MK as the Chinese herbal soup and dessert is good.

The first Gwing Kee started off in Tsuen Wan and now they have two more branches on the Hong Kong side. The one in CWB is a cross over with this other goose restaurant while the one at North Point serves purely Gwing Kee stuff.
Clearly the goose oil noodles and rice are a must try.
You can order a la carte or with drinks etc.
Originally I wanted the beef noodles or rice but the lady suggested that I try the super combo which has a bit of everything including the beef so ordered that.
Unfortunately, the star of the show BEEF was missing and so I asked if the beef was missing and they just came back and said the chef acknowledged it so I wasn't a bit pleased because I didn't get to try the damn beef.
Anyway, the rice with goose oil was really heavenly and so are the goose oil noodles.
The rice is probably a better option as the rice is piping hot and fragrant with the goose oil.
Sadly according to pictures of the super combo, the pickled vegetables were also missing if you take the Tsuen Wan branch as reference.
I guess the restaurant is quite new so not running smoothly yet.

Depending on where you go and live, you either see more of Tong Kee Bao Dim or Bao Dim Sin Seng.
There are two branches of BDSS at Chaiwan, the branch at Wan Tsui Shopping Centre is better because there are bar tables for the food joints nearby.
There are two custard buns, one is the standard and the other is the extra runny custard filling which was new so I tried it.
The bun is quite big and the there is more bun to filling.
As the filling is quite sweet, I ripped open the bun and dipped the edges into it which turned out quite nice.
