Chinese Curd Rice drinks

This is the third yoghurt rice beverage I have tried following Yoghurt Cow and Bubble dog.
Out of the three this is possibly the first yoghurt rice to land in Hong Kong from China with their first branch in MK.
MK does my head in so I couldn't be bothered to go there just for the drink.
Managed try it here as I was getting something fixed at Lenovo nearby.

It is on the corner near the MTR exit.
Tried two yoghurt drinks which were bought an hour after each other.
The first one I had was not that good because the purple rice was mushy and stuck together.
The second cup fared better because you can see the purple rice grains are distinct and long and the texture was better.
As for the yoghurt, it tasted ok and it was not too sweet.
Overall quite a nice dessert drink.

Third branch of Ichigen in Central

Time flies and now there is a third branch of Ichigen in Central!!!
At the Central branch, they have cold ramen with shrimp and sesame sauce which is the best thing for summer.
The decor is pretty much consistent with the other two branches.
They even have USB charging points at the bar tables.
As well as the cold noodle, they have the SET  for 2 for HKD388 which includes 2 ramens, Gyoza, A box of noodles and a Power pack charger.
I ordered the exclusive cold noodles which was topped with ginger tempura, prawns and pork.
The soupless cold noodle was actually better because I could taste the other elements like the ginger tempura and pork better.

The noodles were very firm and al-dente which makes you feel fuller when eating chilled dishes.
Also had the salad which is sweet and spicy with the crispy shrimps and shredded cabbage.

Will definitely come back for the chilled noodles.

[Review 7622] baodimsinsang opens in Polam @ 包點先生 Bao Dim Sin Seng

It has been difficult for me to try Baodimsinsang because of their locations.
Secondly, I get it confused with Tong Kee which is very different but much the same.
On this visit had the meal which came with soup, rice and a drink.
The steamed rice was actually quite good because each grain of rice was flavoured by the soy sauce and chicken feet.
The soup was a bit disappointing and the sweet potato bun which I have been meaning to try was  even worse because it tasted of coconut which is so different to the other purple sweet potato buns I have tried where they don't put coconut in it.
Anyway, glad this place has filled a spot in this failing location where several market vendors have packed up within a short time.

Having Pasta in a Wet market

The wet market has been revamped so it is much nicer than before.
A few weeks ago, discovered Penny Jeng when I was trying the dimsum shop and this other roast shop nearby.

I thought Penny Jeng was the owner as there are some people called Penelope and Penny for short but it turns out that PJ is the English for peng leng jeng!
Went here for dinner after getting some vegetables.
There are so many pastas to choose from and most are under HKD50 which is a bargain.
Had the fried fish as a starter.
It was the usual stuff but at least the frying oil was fresh.

Next was the meatballs pasta:

The tomato sauce wasn't too tangy, it had a good balance of sweet and sour tones.
For the other pasta, we had the curry which I thought would be pasta with curry sauce on top but it turned out to be stir fried pasta with curry and it was super spicy.

Finished with lemon tea as it was quite spicy but overall I loved this cute joint.

Hong Kong style dinners at the peak

As well as the Peak Tram getting re-serviced, Hong Kong day has had a makeover with drawings of Hong Kong on the Move by Agnes Pang.
As well as signature Hong Kong style dishes they also serve banquet style dishes like the wintermelon soup and vegetables.
The pea sprouts topped with dried scallop gravy is another classic family dish that is ordered when there is a  large group of people like the soup above.

The braised rice with dried prawn roe and prawns was fantastic, think of it as an Asian Risotto.
Next are the popular dishes that are always ordered.
My favourite was the sweet and sour pineapple fish because the fish had a good crisp coating while the fish was silky.
The crispy noodles are a Hong Kong favourite and the noodles are literally crispy so don't expect the noodles to be the same as the ones in Chinatown.
For people on the go, they have satay beef instant noodles:

The stir fried wagyu beef with premiun soy sauce is a must:

Overall, I am glad the food at the peak was good that night as it pretty sums up Hong Kong food for tourists.
Finished with the inverted drink which I found a bit sweet especially the double chocolate.

Every time I go past this restaurant on the corner, it is always full which is a good sign because several restaurants didn't survive at this spot.
Previously it was some cake shop then a vegetarian restaurant.

The joint is pretty cramped but seats more people than it ever did before so it is hard to get to the tables at the far back without bumping into people.
The air conditioning is pretty cold so ordered two hot drinks for myself and my friend had the cold drink.
The dumplings were visually different to the ones in the pictures and the soup wasn't clear.
The filling inside the dumplings were ok though.
For the noodles, had the rice vermicelli with pork chops which were quite crispy.

The star of the show had to be the beef noodles which was in this strong beef broth and had a nice sweetness to it.
The noodles were done just right.

Will come back for dessert as the noodles were quite filling.
