Freshly made taro balls

A while ago I saw some pictures of the desserts here so made a mental note to visit.
I was finally in the area so went in for desserts.
The taro balls are a must try as they are all made in house.
I ordered the taro mania because it had taro sauce.
At the bottom, it is herbal jelly which is topped with taro sauce and the trio balls.
There are four colours which correspond to taro, purple potato, sweet potato
The taro balls were soft and chewy complemented by the girly lilac sauce.
The only thing that let it down was the grass jelly which came from the can and you can taste too.

Asian Teas

Only tried this drinks joint because they had Singaporean Pandan tea.
They had lots of Asian teas on offer like Indonesian coconut tea, Thai Tea and even gingerbread tea which I believe are made with Monins Syrup.
The taste of the pandan tea was ok but the pandan wasn't strong enough.
The tea base they used was Hong Kong style milk tea which is not my cup of tea, hence the name bittersweet is a good way of describing the taste of the tea.
Sweet with a bitter aftertaste.

Dumplings with a difference

I was initially attracted by the seaweed pork dumplings and the coconut chicken broth that it comes in.
Went in and there were some new dumplings which were even better than seaweed so I didn't get the seaweed as I've already tried it elsewhere.
The new dumplings they had were the spicy pork and preserved vegetable [mui choi] with sweetcorn.
Decided to try both so the price is calculated by taking the higher price one plus hkd2.
Tried the soup first and it was impressive with a strong coconut taste but marks off for the msg.
Pork, sweetcorn and salted cabbage:
It literally tasted like the salted cabbage pork patty (mui choi jing yuk beng) but I found it too sweet because of the sweetcorn.
Spicy pork dumplings:
The spicy one was my favourite because of the Sichuan spices.
Overall, I was satisfied because the pork was fresh and it didn't contain weird fat and chewy bits.
The coconut and chicken soup definitely made a difference to the usual pork broth.
According to the receipt, this used to be M Dumplings

Korean Hot Dogs are in town so decided to check them out.
Tried Arirang Hot Dog first followed by Bat Boys.
Korean Hot Dogs basically look liked English battered sausages on a stick and American Corn Dogs.
They are slightly different in the sense that they are coated in sugar.
At Arirang Hot Dog, there were quite a few choices, various of coatings and some are filled with cheese.
Tried the potato, cheese and the Korean mochi.
At Arirang, they let you dip it in sugar and add sauce as you wish which I did not because its weird.
The potato dog was quite good but the potato cubes were a bit disappointing because they just used crinkle chips that were cut into cubes.
The other dog fared better as it had some cheese sauce inside.
Overall, glad I tried.
Again, there could be more popping up as they are easy to make and the cost of the ingredients are not that expensive.

J.Co Donuts & Coffee in TKO closes real early so I don't often come here.
The choices at this branch are poor and they stopped doing the pandan latte frappe which I ended up getting in the city.
Anyway, tried the lychee fruit tea which was just sweet and tasteless.Grapefruit might have been better.
Sadly the grapefruit four seasons tea was sweet and that was it.

There was a cute Korean in the Kitchen who was moving to the music while he was coating the Kdogs.
Ordered the American and Indian.
In terms of size, the ones at Bat Boys are smaller.
Tried the Indian one first and it was unbelievably spicy so be warned.
The American one fared better because of the mustard.
In terms of taste, both were like biting in sugar coated donuts stuffed with a sausage so that's how it tasted.
For drinks had the pomegranate and rice drinks.
The rice drink was super sweet.

Overall, it was good trying both joints as the experience and taste was very different.
Again, there could be more popping up as they are easy to make and the cost of the ingredients are not that expensive.

Went here because Amplifier Restaurant serves the Beef Wellington.
Amplifier is conveniently located near the Yau ma tei end of MK right next to Mannings which makes it easy to locate.
The restaurant is quite spacious.
Ordered the beef wellington and a hot earl grey chocolate.
The hot earl grey chocolate was surprisingly good because the earl grey was prominent and the chocolate wasn't too sweet.
Next was the Beef Wellington which was served on a bed of spinach and a side of gravy.
It was nicely sliced and looked convincing.
I loved the pastry and in between there was a slice of delicious Parma ham which held the beef and pate together.
The best thing was that it didn't have any truffle because some fancy versions contain truffle.
Overall, it was delicious and the spinach beneath complimented the pastry nicely as there were onions in it.
As well as the succulent beef, I enjoyed their spinach with the pastry because it was like eating Spinach Puff pastry.
It would be only a matter of time before you find every Western inspired Chinese restaurant serving this when they find out how easy it is to prepare just like the pork knuckles and beef cheeks which is why the menu is practically the same at every restaurant but served with different sauces/vegetables etc.
