Salted Egg yolk and wintermelon pastry

Normally these square pastry blocks are filled with pineapple but at Wingwah they have ones filled with wintermelon.
I got had salted eggyolk with wintermelon.
I really liked it because it wasn't too sweet and the saltiness was good.
The taste has improved from last year because the butter in the pastry was not too overwhelming.
Again,  the prices are marked up and discounted because last year it was priced at HKD17 and marked down to HKD9 and it was the same this year so I am glad the media has done an investigation into this issue!

Previously tried Mee.Lemongrass in CWB and it was pretty average.
The menu at this new branch offers more and the restaurant area is bigger and spacious.

The lobster laksa is not new as they had it at CWB but the pricetag is a winner at HKD8X.
At HKD8x, it is the basic Japanese ramen, bento, set lunch cost so I thought it was worth it,

The most important thing was the lobster meat which was springy and fresh.
Some places serve dehydrated lobsters at marked up prices which is the last thing you want.

Also had the signature beef noodles because of the beef bone broth.

The flat rice vermicelli strands were good but I found the broth a bit weak.

Finished with the oyster omelette which was quite filling loaded with plump oysters.

For drinks had the earl grey milk tea with herbal jelly.

I don't know if the custard mooncake is new but tried it as I have never tried a custard mooncake by WW.

It had a pleasant smell with lots of vibrant yellow oil coming off it.

 0 讚好

Microwaved it for 30 seconds prior eating.
The taste was pretty good as the custard was strong but a bit too sweet.
The thing that let it down was the filling as it was not runny!!

Thankfully you can buy them individually to try if you're curious!

Went here in MARCH and tried to add it to o p e n r i c e but it got rejected so  I couldn't be bothered to submit it again as it is not my responsibility.

I was captivated by the herbal shaomai so ordered it.

Unfortunately, they had two types of shaomai so I was given fish by mistake

As it wasn't what I wanted, finished the fish first and ordered the pork.

The pork shaomai was so damn good because there was a strong herb taste and each piece was soft and mushy.
The soy sauce is disgustingly sweet so next time I will order it without any sauce.

There are so many new restaurants at XIQU centre.
Peony Garden is on the ground floor and offers a wide variety on the menu from simple Hong Kong style comforts to the instaworthy green coriander broth cart noodles.

The decor is just the style for the XIQU centre and they also specialize in Chiuchow dishes.

They preserve their own lemons which are used in the duck soup.

For drinks, had the Soda with Dried Preserved Plum & Tangerine Peel and Lime Soda.

Next were the soups which I was really looking forward to.
Clearly the one with preserved lemon was my favourite because of the saltiness of the lemon but there are some brittle bones in the soup so you have to be careful.

Premium Braised Sliced Goose Fillet Combo with Braised Goose Liver
For the combo, the liver was silky with a slight velvety firmness so it didn't feel so heavy.
The goose was quite lean but unfortunately you don't get any beancurd sheets in this combo.
Boiled Garoupa Fillet in Hot & Chilli Oil:
They also serve fish in chili oil which is another recommended dish.
At the bottom, there are lots of chewy noodles that are tasty as it has absorbed the chili oil.
Clay Pot Rice w/ Japanese Pumpkin & Pork Ribs
For mains, had the clay pot rice where they have specifically selected Japanese pumpkins for that extra sweetness.

Taro Blocks:
Finished with the taro blocks which are coated in a flakey sugar coating.

Beef Wellington for one at MGB by Manhattan

There are many restaurants in Kwuntong, some are located in factory buildings, some in the shabby areas and some in some nice areas.
MGB by Manhattan is located in a prime position, close to the MTR so with a good spot you would expect them to whip up top notch or if not some above average dishes.

We tried quite a few dishes and the Beef Wellington for one is what I would recommend.
The pastry was baked just right and the beef inside was moist and tender.

KIKANBO from Japan branches to cwb.
They specialize in spicy ramen and you get to choose the level of spiciness for the chili and sansho.
The ramen shop is hard to miss as there is a huge Kanabō by the door!!!

There are smaller ones inside.

You order by scanning the QR code but I got a blank screen on my phone so the staff lent me her phone.
As the menu was all in Chinese, I ended up ordering two misos, one with babycorn and one without.
I wasn't really bothered with the corn because it was just placed on top to garnish hence it was cold.

Most ramen joints serve spring onions but here they give you Chinese chives which was interesting.
 0 讚好

The ramen was flat and broad like tagliatelle but with it was firmer with a chew like udon.
Moving on to the broth, one was not spicy with a strong miso taste and the one I had was to my liking as I chose medium strength for the Sansho pepper which has a numbing effect on the palate.

Overall highly recommended if you like spicy cuisines and for people who like Sichuan numbing style dishes.
