Went to KFC again because they had chicken nuggets.

As well as chicken nuggets, they had crisps and these Portuguese tarts filled with mochi and red beans.

For mains, had my usual favourite which was rice with luncheon meat, fried chicken and mushroom gravy.


Unfortunately, the rice was rather mushy this time, a cross between congee and soggy rice while the luncheon meat was dry on one side.

Next were the chicken nuggets which come with wasabi salad sauce.
The chicken nuggets tasted really familiar like those frozen microwavable ones.
I would much prefer BBQ sauce to go with the nuggets but then this is Hong Kong where they prefer wasabi.
Ended up getting the crisps as well as it was reasonably priced at HKD10 for 2.
They were quite spicy with a sweet aftertaste and reminded me of the Indian Lay's Masala Magic with the spiciness reduced.

As well as Australian cafes opening in UK like Jamaica Blue, there are other Aussie cafes in Hong Kong like Deus Cafe although not formerly updated on their site yet.


Deus Cafe is located at THE ONE in the IT block offering laid back light meals in a casual area

I always like the try the items which are on the AUZ menu and see how it compares.
The avocado toast was one of the items.
It was toast topped with smashed avocado, feta cheese, zaatar, chili oil and lemon.

Zaatar is a popular spice in the West but not many restaurants serve it in Hong Kong except middle Eastern restaurants.

Settled for the Avocado toast and the prawn salad.
The Avocado toast was as good as anticipated, it was crispy toast smothered with smashed avocado as well as avocado pieces on top with feta crumbs and greens.
Adding the lemon made it even more appetizing.


The prawn salad was colorful with rice vermicelli at the bottom.
Definitely recommended for those on diet.

For drinks had the Mocha and Breakfast Tea.
The tea was loose leaf tea which was nice and strong.

Tried this place ages ago.
To be honest, I was not impressed by the beef but the desserts were better even though they are probably the frozen cakes that they buy.

The toffee caramel cheese roll was definitely a good one visually as well as taste.
It had glistening gold stripes and sliced in an odd way.
The taste was to my liking because of the cheese filling tasted more like buttercream in the middle.

As for the purple potato cake, it was just your usual standard cake with purple potato piped on top to decorate it.

To summarize, either it depends on luck whether you get a good steak or their steaks are just not good.

Omni Palace specializes in Lanzhou Noodles which are hand pulled by the Noodle master and there are various types ranging from thin to thick.

Previous had The Beef Noodles and  noodles in soy bean paste.
The beef noodle broth had so many spices like cumin, coriander and chili that give you that authentic twist.


Last time I had thick noodles, so this time requested for the thin noodles which were firm , yet silky with a chew.

Overall, top noodles served by snappy staff.

Gala place which used to be a commercial building houses a floor of restaurants on the 8th floor which is nice and dead quiet during the afternoons as the hotpot are not on promotion.
Anyway, as I had a HKD250 voucher to use, I decided to go myself because it was more cost effective that way in the sense that you only get charged one set of sauces.

Sauces, salad and fruits are unlimited in the bar area so if you just order a bowl of rice you are sorted.
As it was lunch, I tried all four soups with rice as I wasn't hungry.
The four soups are cooling coconut, herbal chicken, spicy nourishing and Beauty collagen.
The coconut was too sweet for my liking so out of the four my favourite was the beauty collagen which was savoury.
Also orded snow fungas which was a good source of collagen.


Overall, quite a nice place for hot pot in the afternoon if you are looking for a quiet environment but it might get busier if they do some afternoon specials.

Only went here because they were doing a tea promotion so the selected burgers were HKD22 each.
Ordered the junior whopper and  cheeseburger.

To summarize, the junior whopper fared better as it was a better ratio of burger patty to bun and sauce while the whopper annoyed me with the salad in it.
