Psychedelic Macarons

Unfortunately I forgot my camera that day so didn't take as many photos as I would normally do.This is a cute little joint run by a Korean that specializes in Macarons and they have cakes and drinks as well.
As I was in a rush I only got two Macarons which cost HKD20 each.
I got the Earl Grey and Caramel which are not reflected by the colours as all their macarons are really colourful which make it hard to choose.

Earl Grey:

Caramel:

Overall, I love the taste and texture of the Macaron as they were crispy and chewy but I wasn't fond of the buttercream in the middle because it left an oily lining on my tongue.

This spot used to be some Coffee joint but now it is a soup joint.
I love soups so decided to try their soups which cost HKD40 a la carte or extra with the meal.
I chose A which had lots of ingredients including razor clam, abalone, dried squid, lotus root and fig with chicken breast.

The soup came in this cute ceramic pot.
When they gave it to me, they told me it was soup and I wouldn't find any broth ingredients which was fine for me as I don't eat it.
The taste was strong, I could taste the squid and lotus roots however I couldn't quite taste the complexity of the other ingredients.
Overall, I liked it and will come back for the Bak Kut Teh.

The closest I got to K Toast was at Deserve Better in WC which closed down!
The good news is that Ssoja Toast & Hotdog from Korea has set up a joint in Eaton Hotel.
The menu has toast, hot dogs, lattes and smoothies.
Tried the 3 Combo Toast which had ham, egg, and bacon in it.
The ham was thickly sliced and the egg had sweetcorn in it so it was a filling toast.
I found it really sweet especially the dressing.
After reading the article on openrice, it turns out the dressing is made of golden kiwi!
Finished with the blueberry purple potato latte which was an interesting pairing.
It was served in square shaped plastic cup which made it memorable topped with latte art.
Overall quite satisfied.
Will be back for the smoothies and the Hash Brown toast.

Taking refuge for church food

Obviously I was lured here by church food lol!
It brings me memories of my nursery school at All Souls Nursery in UK.
I remember chopping up carrots for vegetable soup and then queuing up for it.
Anyway, it turns out this is a tea joint with a corner at the back where you can drink it.
Ordered the green tea which was quite thick and syrupy, it was stronger than Jasmine and the aroma was seriously like PRITT stick!

Currently there is a lot of talk on Zagin Soba and Kane as they both serve ramen in delicious creamy chicken broth and now Ramen Cubism.
I haven't tried either so I 've got to try them all and compare them.
Went to Kane first as I was in the area playing with cats and stumbled upon this joint.
It was early that night so there wasn't a queue hence I went straight in but inside it was 80% full already.

As well as the chicken broth, the eel seemed like another thing to try as the eel rice costs $198.
After observing them grill the eel, you either get served the tail or the middle part but as I was there to try the ramen, I got the chicken broth ramen and a skewer of eel to try.

The ramen came first and just like Zagin, it is topped with crispy burdock which is freshly fried in front of you.
Also topped on the ramen is pork and chicken.
The chicken looked lean, white and veinless.
The first thing I did was try the broth and it was so silky and creamy , to me it tasted a bit like Western style chicken soup which is thick in consistency.
The ramen was thick so it hung the broth well.
Overall I was satisfied with Kane but I have to try Zagin Soba and Ramen Cubism to know which one I like.
They gyozas were perfectly pan fried but they just taste like the usual ones.
The other star of the show turned out to be the eel skewers which was moist yet crispy on the edges.
It was delicate and soft, almost bone free so judging by the skewer I believe the eel rice is  going to be be damn good.

Oyster Sushi

Spotted some oyster sushi which I rarely see at Sushi Takeout so decided to try it.

It is labelled as Frozen boiled oysters and they cost $3 per piece.
I got 3 pieces so that I could try it in three ways.
1) on its own
2) with soy sauce
3) with soy sauce and wasabi.

1) The oyster sushi on its own didn't have much oyster taste but it had a starchy mushy texture which makes sense as it was previously frozen.
2) The oyster sushi with soy sauce tasted slighty better but it didn't quite enhance the oyster taste.
3) The oyster sushi with soy sauce and wasabi tasted much better but then because it is a tasteless frozen oyster it really needed all the condiments to  bring out the flavour.

Although it wasn't very tasty but you get another option for $3.

Egg Tart and Almond drink

Went here ages ago for the egg tart and drink.
The almond drink was pretty good, it had a strong almond flavouring .
You either hate it or love it as it has that same distinct punch like cherry which is either artificial or nice to some people.
My friend had the Hong Kong style Milk tea  which I didn't like.
The egg tart was not my cup of tea, the pastry had a strong buttery smell while the filling was too thin with an eggy taste.
Anyway, it is good that they are located there  so that tourists can get a taste of local stuff.

Ba Fang has been in Hong Kong for years, way before the Taiwanese trend came.I am surprised they are still around and how people are satisfied with pan fried dumplings and light snacks.
When you go into Ba Fang joint, you get the usual greasy oily smell in the air.

Recently went there and had the Taiwanese Beef Noodle set for $73 which is quite expensive compared to their other dishes.
Unfortunately, the broth was too heavy and salty that the noodles were just too salty!
A bit over priced but better than some other lame Taiwanese beef noodles in HK.

I have always wanted to try the veg dimsums here but I get here late when everything is sold out.
Managed to pass by when lots of the dimsums were still here and I was intending to get one of each.
As I was going to 5 different dimsums, I ordered two first in case it was too fast for her but she just asked me for the money right away when I hadn't finished ordering.
Everything was stuffed in the bag and a box costs $2 which I wouldn't mind paying if I was offered the box option.
To be honest, they all tasted really similar.
Practically everything had radish and same ingredients except the mock charsiu buns and charsiu steamed bun.
The steamed charsiu bun was too dry for my liking.

Delish bagels and VEGAN cakes

Stopped by for food after visiting the new high Speed rail station nearby.
Sat at the back as it was nice and quiet.
The menu:

For food had the breakfast and bagel.
I didn't have any expectations for the breakfast but the scrambled egg was quite good.

The star of the show for me was the bagel and there were so many fillings to choose from.
I had the New Yorker which had all my favourites like pastrami, mustard and cream cheese.
The bagel was very satisfying especially the pastrami which was complemented nicely by the mustard.

For drinks finished with the hot mint mocha and ice shaken passionfruit tea.

The ice shaken tea was good as it was not too sweet with a fragrant yet natrual taste.

Last but not least was the vegan cake by Vege Lab!!

This was the best vegan cake I have had in terms of taste and texture and I loved the strawberry filling in the middle.

Went here ages ago.
Was disappointed and should have come earlier when they opened as the bagels have changed to more Asian Flavours to suit the locals hence I didn't bother getting it as the flavours were pork floss and Japanese matcha etc.
Resorted to the scone which was drizzled in caramel sauce.
It was quite annoying they didn't give me a bag as the sauce just went everywhere as they just taped the top of the paper bag.

The taste was ok and not as dry as expected.

I have given up on egg tarts these days because there are not many good ones around. The ones here were still hot when I got it so I had to let it cool down a bit before eating it.
The egg tart filling was quite sweet and the pastry was quite crumbly. It was ok but not my favourite.
Will try other stuff next time.

Previously tried Plato and it was quite good so went back.Originally it was located near the Salvation army and now it is on the other side of the road.
They serve continental items and the popular pick is the all day breakfast which had a bit of everything but totally different to a British fry up.
The pasta lunch was good deal including soup.
However the soup was a bit weak and I couldn't taste any pumpkin.
The pasta was good with a tangy tomato taste in rich sauce.
Finished with the mocha which had a good chocolate coffee balance.
