After the delicious food at China Bear, I walked past this shop and saw people having some dishes that looked delicious.
So waited a while until I was a little hungrier and tried this place.
I am not familiar with Turkish food so I didn't know what the dish was that I saw earlier, but since they had a Meze platter I ordered that instead.
There was either a hot meze or a cold meze so I chose the cold one because the hot one seemed a bit heavy.

The Cold Meze basically had: Hummus, Green beans, Kisir, haydari, dolma, eggplant, served with salad.
The pita bread was for dipping the Mezes.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hummus:

The hummus was ok, but not sour enough so after adding the lemon it tasted so much nicer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green beans:

The sauce that it was in was tomato puree, but the tomato tasted quite artificial.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kisir:

Basically, this was couscous and I loved it because there was lots of cumin in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Haydari:

This was basically garlic and dill yoghurt dip, the dill was a bit too strong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dolma:

This was rice wrapped in vegetables leaves, it was too minty and oily for my liking.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg plant:

This was my favourite dip, but there was not much egg plant taste.

[Review 2752] Perfect English lunch by the sea! @ 中國熊 China Bear

My original plan was lunching at Central at some Chinese stall, but both Sing Heng Yuen and Yue Hing were closed (it was a Saturday that day), so I was pretty annoyed and randomly went to Mui Wo.

After getting off the ferry, I felt that Mui Wo was such a lovely place, there are some similarities to Sai Kung, but this place is a million times better.
I hate Sai Kung.

The sea was clear, there were no boats clotting the view or stinky boat fuel lingering in the air, the air was FRESH!

The vibes at this place was amazing, there were so many expats and Western restaurants near the pier.
There was a good bakery shop nearby too.
I was hoping to see some cows, but there were none that day.

Anyway, this was my first stop for food!!!!
I saw the words CHICKEN TERRINE and I just had to have it!
It was only $79 which is quite reasonable for British food!

Sat down, and the view was wonderful, just sea and hills in front of me surrounded by expats.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Potato and leek soup:

The soup was ok, nothing memorable.
It was the usual thick and starchy soup.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken Terrine:

As expected the chicken terrine was delicious, it was grounded chicken, herbs and some flour mixed in.

It reminded me of Christmas stuffing, anyway, the terrine was delicious with the gravy and sweet peas.
I ate the carrots too which I do not normally eat.

[Review 2688] Great Village bakery @ Village Bakery

I was surprised this bakery was not listed on OpenRice but since it was appealing from the outside I went in.
There is a good selection of cheeses in the cabinet.
As well as cheese, they have cheesecakes as well.
The small cheesecake is interesting, because the centre has caved in and I thought it was one of those Taiwanese semi baked cheesecakes.
They had a good range of bread and Western ice lollies.
I went in for the Chocolate cranberry rye sourdough which only costs $18 and looks like a huge scone.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate cranberry rye sourdough:

The sourdough was huge and heavy, it was delicious fresh and heated up because the cabinet has a heater keeping it warm.
It was lovely and chewy with chocolate chips and cranberry giving it a delicious flavour, but the chocolate was a bit messy as I got melted chocolate all over my fingers.

[Review 841] Rua de Cinco de Outubro @ October Fifth Bakery

Came across this bakery claiming to be a product from Macau, it looked interesting so went in.
The packaging of the biscuits was quite nice, it even had English on it, and more surprisingly they have a website too.

http://www.octoberfifth.com/en/introduce005.html

Its name October Fifth is quite interesting too, although I wasn’t sure if it was meant to resemble anything, it made me think of Autumn festival

According to the company “The October Fifth Street (Rua de Cinco de Outubro in Portuguese) was first known as Si Meng Street a hundred years ago as a bustling street in Macau selling a full array of local products. October Fifth Bakery of Macau offers local flavours for your enjoyment.

The product range offers western items such as cookies, and chocolate egg rolls too!

For the traditional range, there are normal egg rolls, pork floss rolls, basically the type of items you would find in Wing Wah bakery.

I brought the abalone cheese puffs, which is a box of individually wrapped biscuits inside.

It wasn’t really puff pastry as name stated, but an extremely buttery biscuit.
The biscuit was rolled with cheese and baked, and looked like a flattened swirl.

It didn’t taste as good as I hoped for, the cheese was bland, and the biscuit was far too buttery.
The cheese could have tasted stronger, there was smell but no taste.
The biscuit contained sesame seeds.

I think next time, I will probably try the seaweed pastry.

[Review 122] Pink Cactus noodles @ Czen

Date reviewed on openrice: 19/05/2009

Interesting noodles that are made with cactus.
The appearance of the noodles were pink instead of green.

It didn't have any distinctive flavour, but i had it with crabmeat soup.
The soup was very thick, just like the crabmeat soup you get in restaurants.
So basically it was having noodles served in crabmeat soup rather than a watery soup.

[Review 2] Great international food variety @ Chef Mickey 米奇廚師餐廳

Date Published on Openrice: 06/02/2006

I came to this restaurant for a dinner buffet, and was amazed that they had a wide range of international food to choose from: Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Indian, and Western and desserts.

Chinese:
Cannot really comment, as I did not eat food from the Chinese area. But they still had har-gau and siumai at dinner time.

Japanese:
A nice range of sushi.

Italian:
A good range of decent pizzas with nice toppings and a thin crust. Pitted green and black olives were also available and many other Italian herbs.

Indian:
A really good selection of Indian food, ranging from pitta breads, curries, kebabs, spices and traditional long grained Indian rice.

Western:
They had a generous range of salads, sauces, mozzarella slices and tomato, Thai salad, breads, Alaskan snow crab legs. There was an interesting item that fooled me looking like a button mushroom, when I tasted it, it turned out to be a taro shaped like a mushroom, the top had been unpeeled leaving the fibres and rings which made it mushroom looking. Very innovative.

Desserts:
As well as a good food range, they also had a good dessert range too. It consisted of Jelly, Tiramisu, Bread and Butter pudding, Truffles, Chinese desserts, fruit selection, Creme brulee, soft ice-cream and many more. The jelly had some nice berries (raspberries and blueberries) to compliment it, sprinkled loosely on the jelly.
