It was Joyce's birthday so this was her birthday cake, a black forest cake from Patisserie paid for by Smashingpumpkins.

He made a really good choice because it was the best black forest cake I have ever tried, you can really taste the alcohol and there were generous pieces of cherries in it.

The cream was delicious as well as the cake and chocolate shavings.

It would be good if they had a picture for this cake on their order form.

Also tried the honey cheesecake and green tea cheesecake.

McDonalds has been doing different promotions for $10.

It was two hamburgers for $10 and the other day it was 9 nuggets for $10.
Although McDs is junk food, I went for the hamburgers instead of the nuggets offer because the nuggets are not 100% chicken meat but mixed with chicken skin and flour etc whereas the beef burger has a higher percentage of meat and it is lightly grilled as opposed to being fried.

So here were my two burgers, served hot with a reasonable amount of ketchup in it.

Went here again for the create your own signature collection.

This time I chose the garden fresh with brioche bun and crispy chicken.

The sauce was a bit too creamy and messy for my liking as it wasn't thick enough and you couldn't really taste the avocado.

I can't stand Shatin because every damn inch you have people in your face.
It took me ages to decide whether or not to trek into Shatin to see the Starlight Garden.
Anyway, decided to go after Christmas when there would be less people so I went on a weekday evening but still there were lots of damn people.
I decided not to eat in the plaza because I would probably be too pissed on the way battling through zombies that I decided to go down to that village for food.
There was not much to choose, a pizza place and this place, so I chose this place because the pizza is probably Chinese style.
The logo is a bit too bold and stands out so loud that anyone would notice this joint on the blind corner.
I am sure there must be some fengshui behind it because there is something strange about it.
The menu was the usual Chinese stuff but I missed some good items as I didn't see it such as the fish and tomato and the aubergines with salty fish.
Started with soup which was surprisingly nice because it had bittermelon and I love that bitter taste.
The mains was ok, I had the pickled vegetable and beef.
If the pickled vegetables weren't so sour it would have been perfect.

Went here because we were at the Heritage museum.
Decided to stop by for drinks but the options were limited and they didn't have Breakfast tea or Earl Grey which tourists would expect especially where they are located.
Ended up ordering other teas and fortunately it was TEAPIGS.
The apple and cinnamon was quite good but it was steeped for too long since it was quite sour.
The queue was stupid, they put the barrier really close to the glass door so only one or two people could queue and the rest had to stand elsewhere.

Went to Shatin because some relatives live there and there are quite a lot of expats around this area as it is next to Tai Po where most BBCs live except me.

Didn't know where to eat because Shatin is always packed with people but went here because of the recent reviews.
We had steamed fish of the day and two other hardcore exotic dishes like XO sauce frogs legs and black bean sauce intestines!

Basically a flawless dish when the fish is fresh and steamed just right.
It was a great size for sharing and the fish was silky and soft complimented by the lovely soy sauce and grassy spring onions.

XO sauce frogs legs:

They have a chicken like texture and taste tossed in XO sauce which isn't that spicy but someone found it spicy so I think my spiciness threshold has gone up.

black bean sauce intestines:


Plain intestines don't really have any taste which is why the black bean sauce is a great thing to pair it with and it reminded me of black bean sauce squids with that springy chewy texture.
More black beans please because I love black beans.

I don't often go to Shatin because it is too far away, but this time I went there for the lobster buffet.
When I arrived I was greated with chilled lobsters and an array of seafood.
The people dining there were well mannered and got their food in an orderly fashion.
The buffet range was surprisingly good because they had quite a good variety.

My favourites were the oysters and they even had roasted pigeon.
The seafood soup was rich and loaded with lobster meat.

After having the mains, I moved on to dessert which was surprisingly good because the cakes were not too sweet with a good variety.
