My last visit their food was terrible, this time I only got one of their fried snacks, the fried tofu and fish paste.

$5 for 3 pieces, 3 balls the size of golf balls, golden brown in colour, and inside was a moist texture with visible pieces of tofu, and bits of fish paste.

As the taste of the fried snack was subtle, the sweet sauce and chili sauce were good for complimenting it.

[Review 432] First time I thought tomyumkung was good! 富軒小食 (灣仔)

Sat down, thinking i could order the snacks from the corner, however the menu only had noodles in soup and the usual noodles in sauce.

So was a bit disappointed as I didnt know if their noodles would be okay.

Ordered the Mixed beef organs with noodles, and tom yum kung noodles with prawn.

Both were served in very big bowls, the cutlery and bowls were clean, and the whole place was surprisingly cleaner than I expected.
I don't really eat the beef organs, but tried the carpet looking thing, it was surprisingly soft not like chewing gum!!

The prawn noodles was the best, the prawns were fresh and DEGUTTED!!!! Very top quality which beats the appearance of the shop!
For people who have had tom yum kung before will probably say that the one here isnt that strong, to me it did seem diluted, but I liked it a lot as the herb taste was faint.
The noodles were nice and soft, lots of spring onions and a few pieces of lettuce.
I thought the noodle was quite interesting because usually won ton noodles are served with boring soup, but first time it had been served with a tom yum kung base, hmm i would like to try laksa too if they had it.

There was no feeling of thirst after eating there, so the amount of msg was minimal or none.

The staff was quite polite and friendly, and looked like he was from Thailand.

[Review 431] New oyster omlette and packaging @ 阿土麵線

Saw the new oyster omelette, so ordered that, basically it was oyster omelette covered in tomato sauce.

The omlette, or should i say slime-lette had that same slime/gunge I found in the taiwanese noodles I wrote about earlier:
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/commentdetail.htm?commentid=2028065

Being an omlette, I could not see much egg in it!!
It didnt even taste of omlette, all i could taste was slimy flour and oyster!!

The new packaging is good though!!

[Review 430] Hazelnut Falls @ McCafe

McCafe (太古) 22/09/2009
太古太古城道18號太古城中心二期2樓265 號舖麥當勞內
Shop No.265, 2/F, Cityplaza 2, 18 Taikoo Shing Road, Tai Koo
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/hazelnut-falls-e2031186

Went to try their autumn falls selection, so tried the hazelnut cake and a hazelnut lamington.

Hazelnut lamington: lacked hazelnut taste, especially the coating, it tasted more like coffee, the paste in the middle was rather thick, and could only taste a faint hint of hazelnut.

Hazelnut cake: overly too sweet, hard sweet biscuit base, and biscuit nuggets at the top.
Also lacked hazelnut taste, and because the rest of the components were overly sweet, covering the taste of hazelnut.

[Review 429] Afternoon tea set @ Cafe De Coral 大家樂 (紅磡)

Shop G11, G/F, Lily Mansions (Site 9), The Whampoa, Hung Hom

Sat down here for afternoon tea after a tiring hot day, too tired and lazy to be bothered to go anywhere else. Ordered two sets, roast pork with rice, and pork chop bun with macaroni.

The roast pork rice was piping hot, the sauce was more like sticky gel, but as I was hungry, it all tasted good.
The pork chop in the bun was rather small, but the bun itself was good, crusty chewy bun.
The macaroni was disappointing though, very bland, and tasted like aeroplane food.

[Review 428] May be not Laksa King @ 喇沙王 King Laksa

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/laksa-king-maybe-not-e2030936

Of all laksas i have had i am still a loyal fan of Katong, I have yet to try Malaymama.

The only thing unique with the laksa here, is that you can choose silver pin noodles.
The Laksa was not spicy at all, and the soup was thin, the oysters were added when served.

The other dish that was excellent was the satays with yellow ginger rice, it turned out to be the star of lunch. Although slightly overly on the sweet side, but very delicious.
The rice, known as ginger rice, was a bit bland.

The satays were ok, only the beef and chicken was good, the pork had bits of fat on it.
The octopus was chewy and tasteless, but tasted good together with the beef satay.

I also thought it was quite cool, all their chopsticks were black, however there was a pair of light blue chopsticks on our table, and very rare to find blue chopsticks.

As for the environment, it was so hot and not air conditioned, a total glutton for punishment eating there on a hot day, I was wearing hot pants and vest top and I was fuming from inside out!

[Review 427] Old Hong Kong @ 星巴克咖啡 Starbucks Coffee

Finally popped round to this Starbucks imitating Old hong kong, one side of the cafe is modern, and the other side is like the old style cafe.

The food and coffees are the same as any starbucks, would be good if they had a starbucks version of old hong kong food, so it would be an attraction to go there and eat it, or use some sort of old cafe style cups.

Refreshed ourselves with iced mocha and old fashioned lemonade.

The lemonade was fizzy and tasted quite natural unlike the seven-up types,
and the iced mocha tasted good as usual.
