After the first visit, I thought the apple crumble was quite nice so came here again for it.
This time it was overly sweet.
Also tried the egg pudding because of the cute egg container.
Basically it tasted ok, and there was thick sauce at the bottom.

[Review 704] Chocolate honey cake slice @ 凱施餅店 (灣仔) Hoixe

Interesting, chocolate and honey cake, so I got it.
The cake was nice and soft, the honey tasted more prominent than the chocolate, overall it was slightly sticky.
The cake slices are available in other flavours such as green tea etc which cost slightly more than the original flavour.
Definitely recommend over the original which is oily and dense.

[Review 703] Improvements needed @ Caffe Kenon & Bistro

Decided to try it out because Caffe Kenon looked cyber and cute.

The food offered was pasta, sandwiches and cakes.

Got a ham and cheese sandwich and a cup of earl grey tea.

Ham and Cheese sandwich: discounted to $10, basically tastes the same as the ham and cheese sandwiches from Maxim, except at Maxims you would probably get two slices. After eating a ham and cheese sandwich from Hoixe, I realized the ham at Caffe Kenon is much better without stringy bits.

Earl Grey Tea:
This was served wrongly, firstly the water and teabag was separate.
Even if you didnt know how to serve tea, the teabag had instructions.
Secondly, tea is served with milk and sugar, I was not given either it until I requested for it.
The staff obviously didnt have any knowledge of tea, because when I requested milk they found it weird and the kitchen staff asked why the waitor wanted it, and the waiter said the customer requested for it. Anyway, after the milk arrived, I had to request for sugar.

In the whole process no spoon was given, I was wondering if they expected me to stir the milk and sugar with my fingers

Improvements:
Kitchen staff should have more knowledge on food and beverage.
Waitors should act as a real waitors, ie knowing the basics ie giving out the right cutlery.
A quote from the first review:
"當店員為我奉上點品時,竟然要我提起才去取叉子給我享用甜品(不夠細心囉!)"

[Review 702] From good to bad @ 香港QQ蛋仔

When it first opened, I was addicted, to the freshly done waffles.
They were crispy and chewy inside like Pon-da-rings.
The waffle is different to the usual grid ones, so the texture is slightly softer than the usual grid ones.

The egg puffs were also good when done freshly, I tried the cheese one, which was quite nice, same with the chocolate. I also want to try the egg puffs Dundas Street, but that place is also busy.

In the beginning it was worth waiting for, however the pavement was very narrow with so many buses along that road, farting its fumes. As well as that, there were grubby men brushing against you.

Anyway, recently, the quality has gone down, as they have made a lot of waffles and just re-heat when you order them, also they have changed their attractive paper bags to the plain brown ones.

Apart from the famous boat trip, this is another good noodle to try.

The soup is slightly hot with notes of Red beancurd in it, it is slightly sour too, and there are lots of toppings such as fishcakes, squids, crunchy wonton skin, and ducks blood.

It is a light noodle if you dont want a strong soup base one, although there was a slight bleach smell in the soup, not sure if its meant to be like that.

There are so many Taiwanese drink shops available, its so hard to choose, luckily this was a good choice.
I chose the fruit tea, which contained orange juice, passionfruit, apple, and jasmine.
The fruit tea here is different to the other fruit teas from Taiwanese joints, the taste heavily on juice with Jasmine essence.
It was like drinking watered orange juiced without the sourness, with a strong hint of jasmine essence, then after tones of passionfruit. You can actually see the orange pulp in it too.
I really liked it, and hope that it will remain competitive.
The cup used for the drink was a sturdy plastic cup with a cute handle to hold it.
