Before this restaurant opened, they used to be located next to Freshness burger, a tiny joint that only sits about 6 people.
It was my favourite noodle place, but as it was small, I didnt go there often.
Now that they have expanded, it is much more accessible and the seating is much more comfortable with air conditioning.
Basically, they offer the basic noodles in noodle bars, but the soup base is brilliant, especially the Laksa base and the Tom Yum Kung.
The Tomyumkung has been especially formulated that you cant taste that annoying Lemon grass, and it has a piece of lemon served with it.
The tomyum soup tastes very similar to MAMA instant noodles, with a sour taste.
The Laksa is also good too, the soup base isnt too hot, and it has a strong prawn base.
The toppings I chose were really good, especially the pork liver, it was cooked just right, and full of flavour.
As well as the food, the drinks were good, the lemon tea dosnt have that bitter taste to it, and the job's tears with lemon is very natrual that dosnt leave a weird taste after drinking it. It was very soothing, and not too sweet.
The interesting thing is, that job's tears with lemon is a Chinese version of the English barley and lemon drink.
The menu is very user friendly and it has ENGLISH, yay~!!
Apart from the soup noodles, I have also tried the chow mein, and it is also the best, it dosnt need additional sauces such as soy sauce, the chow mein is packed with ingredients from ham, spring onion, chinese red sausage, although it varies from visit to visit.
Even though it is slightly expensive, the food is delicious and clean.

[Review 910] Looks delicious, but was not fresh @ 元綠壽司 G. Sushi

The G Sushi branch here always has no queue compared to other branches, but overall when you search for G Sushi on Openrice, it has more negative reviews than positive.

I tried it without expectations that the food to be great, but I was not expecting below the standard, even though the prices were slightly lower than other places.

All in all, out of the 10 items ordered, only two were OK.

They all looked normal when they arrived, but none of them tasted fresh, the foie gras was unbelievable, it was hard and rubbery, the first time I have tasted foie gras in such a crap state.
The prawn in the hotpot had gone off to the point that it was mushy, and the head began to smell.
Luckily the prawn was overcooked, or there would have been serious food poisoning.
Steamed egg was so bland it needed soy sauce.

The salmon still has skin attached to it.

The only thing that was nice was the squid tempura, but the oil wasnt that fresh and the tiny fishes tasted nice.

[Review 909] Super delicious crab paste noodles @ 河內越南餐廳 Pho Ha Noi

I was surprised that there were not many reviews on this place, but after seeing the photos of the noodles topped with red crab paste, I just had to have it.

Before going in, I asked if they had the crab paste noodles, and the waitress said yes, so I went in.
After I sat down, the waitress pointed out the crab noodles on the menu for me, it was right at the bottom of the list and easily missed.

It was a bright bowl of Vietnamese noodles, decorated with spring onions, onions, tomato and coriander.
The taste of the herbs was a bit too overpowering for my liking especially the coriander.

The crab paste was very aromatic, it looked a bit like boiled egg white strands.
The soup was savoury and full of crab flavour and slight hints of tomato, and the vietnamese noodles were the best I have had, because they were thin, similar to angel pasta, and soaks up more flavour.

In Hong Kong, space is limited everywhere, this bakery has three cabinets inside with a walking space enough for one person!!!

Got three sweet items, apple lattice, blueberry custard danish and a pineapple puff.
The apple and blueberry danish tasted quite nice, the pineapple one wasnt that nice, the pineapple was a bit too moist and made the pastry soggy.
The blueberry custard was protected by a clear sheet of plastic, cleverly stuck to the four corners of the pastry by a white dot of icing.

I have noticed quite a few times that they do Fish and Chips on a friday with mushy peas with pea and ham soup, yummy!!

Went on a Friday, when people usually go out for lunch before they breakup for the weekends, sadly not the case in HK.

Despite the restaurant was 80% full, the staff were very efficient at taking orders, serving the food, and the food arrived accordingly without any delayed waits.

For the starters ordered waldorf salad, pea and ham soup, and for the lunch, had fish and chips, chicken ala king.
Dessert and drinks were included, and there was no service charge at all!!

Starters:
Waldorf salad, this was a mix of lettuce, apple and celery, however I couldnt see any walnuts, it tasted ok, and the sauce had a slight hint of banana in it.
Pea and ham soup, this was nice and green in colour with lots of ham pieces lurking at the bottom of the bowl.
Bread, lovely bread that came with ANCHOR salted butter.

Fish and chips:
the fish was coated in breadcrumbs, a bit like fish fingers, it was quite a big piece of fish, the mushy pea's were gorgeous, thick and mushy with a few whole pieces of pea.
I would have preferred the chips not to be that crunchy, but otherwise it was terrific, especially sprinkling lots of sarsons vinegar and salt.

Chicken a la King:
This was also delicious containing chicken, peas, green peppers, I would have liked more sauce too,
I dont know why, but it felt a bit chinesey the way it was cooked.

Dessert:
This was also terrific, moist chocolate cake with extremely smooth velvety chocolate on top.

Overall it was perfect from starter to dessert, the music was slightly too loud, but acceptable for a friday.

Amazing soft serve ice-cream

In England, soft-serve ice-cream is everywhere, especially in the seaside towns, there are lots of ice-cream vans.
It is usually served on a wafer cone with a chocolate flake.
Apart from ice-cream vans, McD’s has them too, but I never liked soft-serve, because the taste lacked vanilla and it was too milky.

I was expecting myself not to like the soft-serve here, I only ordered it because I felt like something sweet and I didn’t feel like froyo.

I picked number 9 because I don’t like green tea ice-cream, red beans, I just wanted to try the plain hokkaido milk ice-cream. It also came with green tea jelly and japanese mochi.

The portion was rather big, the japanese mochi and green tea jelly were put on the bottom of the cup, and the ice-cream on top.
The colour of it was white and smooth, the icy particles were not visible.
The ice-cream looked very thick, it reminded me of toothpaste!!

I tried my first spoon of it, and I was amazed, the taste was totally different to the McDs soft-serve and the ones in UK, it was truly creamy and not the milky type.
The ice-cream was very dense and thick, yet very airy, with fine air bubbles infused inside.
It was very interesting, because it was like cold thick mousse.

The green tea jelly was really good too, it was a mixture of kanten jelly and agar texture.
The Japanese mochi wasn’t that nice, I thought the size was too big, I would have preferred mini ones.

[Review 905] Not worth trying @ 味吉拉麵館 Mikichi

The restaurant is situated along the others at Jusco, this one offers quite spacious seating inside, and modern Japanese interior.

Ordered the udon and buckwheat noodles to try, the udon is thinner than the usual Japanese ones, the beef and sauce was nothing extraordinary, same with the buckwheat noodles, the soup base reeked of oil.
The tempura was even worse, it was overly greasy and sickly.

The minced garlic in the jar was foul, I think it had gone off too.

The only good point I found was the bowl for the noodles was hot, so it kept the noodle warm all the way through and only the smoked egg tasted nice.
