This was my second visit since a few years ago, it was more enjoyable because I was prepared for the noisy atmosphere.
Chose the satay with garlic rice and the turmeric rice with sliced omelette and crispy shallot, served with deep fried chicken wing, spicy beef, roasted peanuts with salted fishes, tofu, beans, hard boiled egg with chili paste, the lemon tea was bottomless, and for the other set I ordered a soup.
For the satay set, it was nutritionally balanced, rice, vegetables and meat, however the vegetables were slightly too old and chewy.
There was too much sweetcorn and peas in the satay sauce, so I didnt get enough sauce, I was expecting it to be like this http://static3.openrice.com.hk/UserPhoto/photo/0/HP/003HU24A5DD1E2C8399A82m.jpg
For the satay set, the garlic rice and vegetables were slightly too oily, but overall the food wasnt as oily as Mang Abos even I didnt order the truly flipino dishes.
There was watermelon included as well, as for the soup, it was wintermelon soup, with a piece of chicken feet.

[Review 931] Great Lunch @ The White Stag
12/12/2010 White Stag
灣仔駱克道52號地下

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/great-lunch-at-the-white-stag-e2135587
I have always wanted to go to the White Stag, but its just packed with people, and the choice of lunch sets seems great every time I walk past it.
Today it was beef wellington, chicken casserole, and sausage and onion baguettes.
The beef wellington I ordered was amazing, the pastry was so flakey and inside there was a strong taste of truffle and mushrooms,
and the pastry was filled with truffle taste and aroma, and the beef was tender and juicy.
The casserole was not quite what I was expecting, because it tasted a bit Italian with a tomato based sauce.
The dessert was the usual chocolate cake from the Devils advocate.

Two days in a row of roast turkey and this was my second meal of turkey.
The Christmas lunch here was not as good as the Canny man, the turkey was a bit dry, but the stuffing was good with pieces of chestnut in it.
The starters was chestnut soup, and it was the star of the lunch, the soup wasn't starchy.
I have never had chestnut soup before except for the Chinese version which is oily and weird.
The salad was weird, it was bits and pieces thrown together because clearly it was weird putting squid and chick peas together in a creamy sauce.
For the roast turkey, it came with baby carrots, peas and sweetcorn (frozen type) and turkey rolled with chestnuts.
The service was slightly slow, as there was only one staff there.

[Review 929] 2010 first xmas lunch at Canny Man @ 精伶吧 The Canny Man

I was wondering which restaurant would be my first Christmas lunch, the favourite time of the year because of gravy, stuffing, chipolata sausages and cranberry sauce.
It seemed that the Canny Man had a flyer first for Christmas lunch starting on the 6th December, followed by Carnegies.
Last year, I did not have the traditional xmas lunch here, so it was on my priority list to go.
The Christmas dinner at the Canny Man was actually more appealing because it was a four course dinner including haggis.
Anyway ordered the xmas lunch, the soup, salad and bread were the usual starters.
Then the main lunch came, it was perfect, it had brussel sprouts, carrots, roast potatoes, turkey, gammon ham, big slab of stuffing, chipolata sausage rolled in bacon and cranberry sauce.
Everything was piping hot and fantastic.
The turkey was so tender and juicy which was surprising, yet it still had the turkey meat texture and freshly cut from a whole turkey.
The diced roasted potatoes were also my favourite, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and the Gammon ham was good too.
The xmas lunch was followed by a banana royale, mince pies and a drink for $158 per person.
Apart from the xmas lunch, I was really tempted for the vegetarian version, as it had Portabello mushroom.
Ideally xmas dinner is better than the lunch, because the entrees are a good and they have haggis too but the lunch version is simpler as people only have an hour.

Was a bit bored with the options available at Ajisen, so tried the noodles in pumpkin soup.
Surprisingly it was quite good, the pumpkin soup tasted stronger than expected.
There were two pieces of soft pumpkin fried in tempura batter.

Got the Japanese noodle set which came with Jelly, green tea and fried gyozas.
There was nothing interesting about the set, except for the triangle shaped gyozas, quite cool.
The jelly I didnt like because the grape flavour just tasted like plastic odour.

Felt like some stir fried instant noodles, so this was the only place in the food court that had it.
I asked for the black beans and spareribs one (chinese: gone chow see jiu pai gwut gung jai mean)
which means it is the dry noodles.
After waiting for a while, the lady waved me over to tell me, they don't do dry style, which is weird, since it did say "gone chow".
They said it will only be cooked with black pepper, anyway I chose a different noodle, the Satay flavour.
It was ok, but way too Salty.
