Last time I dined here I wanted the Lemon noodles with Prawn roe (Moong fun with haar go) but it was not available.
This time they had it so I ordered, when it came it was so disappointing, the prawn roe was just merely XO sauce.
What a rip off.

Third time dining here.
This time I tried the dumplings with red oil {which is just dumplings in chili oil}.
The dumplings had a lot of finely chopped garlic on top and the spiciness levels were just right to me.
The service was really good because they provided me a metal fork and spoon when I requested for one.

Came here after getting Sugar Cane juice from Gung Lee, the EDIT letters stood out from across the road.
The letters reminded me of the pieces of letter from the game SCRAMBLE.
Inside the Froyo joint, it reminded me of Kiehls skincare, on the second floor there is a clothing shop.
As well as the fixtures, it was good to see designed articles by the shop.
The toppings were contained in beakers like the ones from chemistry labs and the sink looked like a clinical/medical one.
Even the lighting itself was jazzed up, my favourite was the jar lighting and the irregular filament.
The froyo cups were good too, but I did not get the colourful version which was the pastel blue or pink.
T

he froyo was not memorable. It just tasted very basic, not too sweet or sour.

[Review 1321] Singmalay part 27 - Mandarin chicken rice @ 文華雞飯(新加坡)

Came here a year ago when it was flooded with people, however the day I went it was closed.
Anyway, one year later I am back to try it again.
Luckily the queue has died down, so I did not have to wait for long.
The air conditioning was freezing in there.

Ordered the signature roast chicken and the original chicken {their so called white chicken}
The portions were quite small.
The roasted chicken tasted better than the white chicken, the skin was roasted so it wasnt as greasy as the white one.

The rice was just right, not to soft and not too hard, however it went cold quickly due to the air con.
The soup that was given free tasted strong of cabbage and less of the chicken.
The Buk Kut Teh was nice and strong however it was too salty.
The vegetables were ok.
The sauces were contained in a metal container instead of being given fixed amount.

The table next to me had some stir-fried vegetables and they said it was too salty as well.
Overall I quite liked it and preferred it more than Good Satay, however the grounded ginger at Good Satay is better.

[Review 1320] The best kept secret for roast meat in Sai Kung @ 高記燒臘

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/the-best-kept-secret-for-roast-meat-in-sai-kung-e2200612

For Chinese roast meats in Sai Kung, everyone goes to Man Nin Wah.
I found Man Nin Wah too local and I didn’t know how to order, and the stuff was pretty expensive.

However this shop is nicely hidden in the market which is well known by the locals.
I wonder if the Chan Jan has been here before.

A friend in Sai Kung got a whole roasted piglet from this place, I do not know if it is expensive because I do not eat Chinese, but the piglet cost $680.

Anyway, I really liked it, the pork was tender and soft, and the skin was extremely crispy.
The piglet’s legs were the best; it absorbed most of the marinade.

Apart from the roasted piglet, they also have these yummy honey ribs and wings, which I shall try on my next visit in Sai Kung.

After trying their delicious chicken pie, walked past another day and the chocolate cake caught my eye.

It "LOOKED LIKE" a really nice Western chocolate cake with a cherry on top.
I asked what it was, but the staff there didnt seem to get my question.
Anyway I got one, and when they picked it up, it seemed really hard and unfresh, but I did not bother to ask for a fresher one.
When it was picked up by the tongs, the cake did not deform or compress so you can imagine how hard it was.
As I was carrying it, the cream in the middle and on the top was so brittle that the cherry fell off with the cream intact.
The taste was totally Chinese, the typical salted chocolate cream.
The cake was dry and hard.
Yuck!

[Review 1318] The reign under Queen Victoria in Wan Chai @ The Queen Victoria

Dined here during the month they opened and I have been a regular since.

Came here purely by accident because the Old China Hand pub next door rarely advertises the food it serves, but with the new Queen Victoria here, it finally got back into competition serving breakfasts and daily specials. On the other hand OCH has been opened since 1977!!
I was actually going to eat at OCH but ended up walking into QV.

Before trying QV and OCH I used to wonder if the food came from the same kitchen because both menus were quite similar.

That day I happened to reach the Queen Victoria before the Old China Hand pub, it was newly opened and looked fairly inviting so I went in for lunch.
Inside the pub, the tables and sofas were dark brown and on the walls were old pictures of London and Queen Victoria.

I saw the set lunch menu but didn’t see the main menu, hence I ordered the chili con carne, after I had placed my order, I noticed the main menu.
The choice was amazing, they even had curry sauce with chips.

The chili con carne came rather fast, in fact faster than other pubs, the staff there were friendly and said their food comes fast which was true.
There was chicken and chips too {which I tried another day}, it reminded me of the chicken and chips I had at a pub opposite QMUL in London {now closed }, the chicken was so juicy and the chicken skin was rubbed with salt.

On another day, I had their Breakfast. When the food arrived, I was ecstatic.
Usually the sausages that are served in Hong Kong are just not the ones in UK!
After cutting the sausage and taking a bite my mind was whizzing between all these different restaurants and places in UK from QM’s Drapers breakfast, Littlewoods breakfast, School dinners and college.
Anyway, I don’t know how to explain it, but the sausage had that usual crisp skin that sticks to the knife when cut, and inside it is pink with the smell of herbs.
It may not be an expensive sausage, but it is the same as the ones served widely in UK. The taste is similar to the Chipolatas for Christmas.

Also tried their pies, as well, it is the same ones as UK, the chicken pie has tarragon, and the beef pie was also delicious.
Hope that they will serve Bubble and Squeak one day!
