Ordered the marinated goose livers with rice HKD30.
When I opened the box, there were slices of duck heart in there as well.
The liver was over cooked and too dry that it was dark brown.
As for the duck hearts it was also over cooked but not as dry as the liver.
I felt that there was more sliced hearts in the box when there should be more of liver because I ordered liver with rice.

[Review 1462] Chocolate Lamington @ 聖安娜餅屋 Saint Honore Cake Shop
28/02/2012
聖安娜餅屋 Saint Honore Cake Shop
灣仔春園街29-41號春園大廈地下F號舖
Shop F, G/F, Spring Garden Mansion, 29-41 Spring Garden Lane, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/saint-honore-cake-shops-chocolate-lamington-e2221674
There were two flavours for the Lamingtons at Saint Honore's cake shop: Lemon or Chocolate.
I got the chocolate lamington which costs $4.
The usual Lamingtons are shaped like a cube.
However the shape of Saint Honore's one was not a cube, it was a rectangular cuboid, the only advantage your getting is that you are getting more.
The Lamington tasted quite nice, it was moist and soft.
The outside of the lamington was covered in dessicated coconut.
The outermost layers of the sponge was really moist because it was dipped in chocolate sauce to adhere the dessicated coconuts.
[Review 1461] Joyful dining at Joy Hing @ 再興燒臘飯店 Joy Hing Roasted Meat

Last week I was planning to buy food from Joy Hing, however the day I was supposed to go I had gastroenteritis, the next day I was still throwing up food so I couldn't go, then the following two days I was not in town.
Today I finally went but the item I wanted was unavailable, so I ordered pork trotters in abalone sauce with rice and a side of chicken feet in abalone sauce.
However when I took the contents out from the bag, I realised I was given soup instead.
Wrong item!! its not meant to be soup :(
I called them up and was surprised that I could come back for a refund or collect the dish at a later time.
Yay! chicken feet in abalone sauce
Anyway, when I went, I was impressed that they kept records of my phonecall and the details.
Not many Chinese restaurants will bother with customer service especially when they have a good reputation of customers.
When I went, it was my first time dining because I usually get takeouts.
On the table there were disposable chopsticks and spoons, and they even had tea on the table and paper cups.
As well as that, there was a big jug of soy sauce to pour on the roast meat if you felt that it was not salty enough.
Most Chinese roast meals are unhealthy, but I felt that this one was quite healthy, at least they did not pour oily soy sauce or have roast meats tasting like syrup.
The accompanying spring and ginger sauce was not salty as well.

Pigs trotters in abalone sauce with rice
This was the takeaway I had. After walking approximately 10 minutes on a windy cold road, the rice was amazingly hot that it burnt my mouth!
It was about 10 degrees that day, and I am surprised the rice was still piping hot.
The pigs trotter were hairless and soft that they came off the bone easily.
The abalone sauce was not the thick sauce I was expecting but a watery one.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast pork and chicken liver with rice:
The rice was not as hot as the takeaway but just right.
The roast pork here is slightly different to the roast pork from other places, it it slightly crispy and glazed on the outside.
It has a few spots that are charred which seem to be a result of real spit fire roasting and not the electric roasting.
The centre of the roast pork is soft and juicy and not overly sweet or salty.
As for the chicken liver, it was surprisingly silky in the centre with the occasional crispy bits that have been charred on the outside.
The livers also had chicken hearts attached to it which I should of tried.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken feet in abalone sauce
This tasted the same as the pork trotters, however the chicken feet were smaller than expected, and the soy bean curd sheets were nice and soft and full of abalone sauce flavour because it soaked the sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ginger and spring onion sauce
This is the best ginger and spring onion sauce because it is not salty at all, and you can put lots of it with your rice providing they give it to you.
It was nice dining there because you can ask for a side of ginger and spring onion sauce even if you didn't order chicken.
Since the ginger and spring onion sauce is not salty, you can always adjust accordingly with the soy sauce.
But for me, the saltiness was just right.

Walked past and saw these packaged puddings exactly the same as the ones at Prince Edwards.
At that moment, I did not realise the name of the shop was different, I just recognised the packaging and the flavours.
The range they sold was exactly the same as the range at Prince Edwards.
As I did not try all the flavours last time at Prince Edwards, I bought the other flavours here.
After I checked Openrice I realised that this shop was called Hop Hing and the one at Prince Edwards is called Dai Kee, but the range is exactly the same.
However they cost more here and are slightly bigger per slice.
They cost $15 for 3, but at Dai Kee, they cost $4 per slice and you can just buy one if you want.

MIDDLE in the photo
Pumpkin and Custard:
This was quite nice and not too sweet with pieces of pumpkin.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
LEFT in the photo
Almond:
This was my favourite one because it had the lightest taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
RIGHT in the photo
Taro and Sago: This one tasted nice, but its texture made itself the odd one out from the other two I tried.
It was firmer than the other two, and there was more ingredients in it such as taro pieces and sago.
It was the sweetest and had the strongest flavour of the three.

[Review 1459] All you can eat with some new items @ 銀座蔵人 Ginza Kurando

銀座蔵人 Ginza Kurando

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/all-you-can-eat-with-some-new-items-e2221434
The price for the all you can eat buffet has gone up to HKD247 per person, but there are a few new items.
These are:
Deep fried Japanese cheese and potato mochi cake,
Sweet potato in lemon syrup,
Pumpkin salad
Beef tartare
Spanish omelette
The buffet is the same format as before, you write down the items you want and the table number and pass it to the waiters.
I forgot to order the Japanese cheese and potato mochi cake and the Spanish omelette was not available that day.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sweet potato in lemon syrup:
This looked different to the product shot, on the product shot it was a round shaped sweet potato ball on top of lemon slices.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pumpkin Salad
The portion for this was huge!
It was pumpkin mixed with mayonnaise, and the taste not two sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef Tartare:
The beef was thinner than it looked in the picture.
It was stale because the raw beef in the middle was not soft.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Most of the Sashimi was good, but there was one weird scallop that had a dark orange colour

[Review 1458] Subway's Raspberry cheesecake cookie in HK @ Subway

E1, UG/F, Far East Finance Centre, 16 Harcourt Road , Admiralty
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/subways-raspberry-cheesecake-cookie-in-hk-e2221223
The usual cookie flavours sold at Subway are classic chocolate chip, white chocolate with macadamia nuts, M&Ms, oatmeal raisin, and peanut butter.
The Raspberry cheesecake flavour was launched in the US about a year ago, and as a Valentine's edition in Singapore so when I saw the Raspberry cheesecake cookie for HKD6 I just had to try it..
Visually you could see lots of red raspberry bits in it and white chocolate pieces.
The raspberry tasted really nice but the white chocolate bits were too sugary.

[Review 1457] Still my favourite place for chips and Scott food @ Chippy
26/02/2012
Chippy
中環威靈頓街51A地下
G/F, 51A Wellington Street, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/still-my-favourite-place-for-chips-and-scott-food-e2221220
I love eating chips surrounded by glass jars of pickles and the British radio in the background.
Nothing like a perfect sunday by the seaside.
Anyway, eating in Central will do fine for me.
On this visit I had most of the sides that I am usually too full to try.
Ordered picked egg, pickled onions, steak and kidney pie, gravy, Haggis, Black pudding, fishcakes, cheese and onion pie, sausage, egg and bacon butty, and deep fried mars bar.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pickled egg
For $10 its about the same price as those runny eggs served in ramen joints, but this one is pickled.
I found it very appetizing especially the egg white.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried bars mar:
It was different to how I thought it would be done, it was dipped into a dough batter and not the fish batter.
It tasted like a donut without sugar with a melted mars bar inside.
The sweetness was just right as well because the mars bar inside gave the dough the sweetness.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Gravy
Good old bisto gravy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steak and kidney pie:
Made by the Chippy themselves after numerous trials from different kidneys and beef to get the best taste.
The pie has a cute cow on the top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pickled onions
This was really sour, but I really miss them from school and the familiar spots on the surface of the onion.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Butty
There are two versions, bread or bun, bread is more traditionally used in UK and chips and butter are usually sandwiched in between.
The version I had today was the bun type.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese and onion pastry
As usual, it tastes brilliant, the cheese is not elastic or stringy.
The onions inside were finely chopped and molten mixed with the cheddar cheese.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Haggis
A Scottish favourite that I like which contains oats, sheeps organs and spices.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black pudding
Also another Scottish favourite of my choice, pork blood, oats and spices.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish cakes
I love this because it is really similar to the ones at school, light crispy coating with grounded fish and herbs inside.
