UNO DUO TRIO - Lana's Italian Home-cooking
銅鑼灣耀華街3號百樂中心19樓
19/F, Bartlock Centre, 3 Yiu Wa Street, Causeway Bay
Finally the dessert, it was a perfect ending because it tasted good as well.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Tiramisu
I loved the tiramisu especially because of the sponge in the middle which was soaked in alcohol.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Creme Brulee
The creme brulee was served in a cute bowl with a rabbit and the texture of the brulee was really silky.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
All in all, there was nothing I did not like and I ate everything which is an indication it was delicious, I do not usually eat beef or pork but it tasted so nice here that I had forgotten I did not like pork or beef.
During the meal, Lana would come out and see how the customers were liking the food and she is willing to take comments and suggestions.
If you are an Italian you would know that the menu is not as simple as it looks, it features dishes from various parts of Italy and the the dishes have been set out so that whatever combination you pick it would taste good together.
The food and quality was so good that I felt guilty I was so lucky to get the opportunity to try her food.
But anyway I will be back to try their lunches soon which are around $68 before the crowd comes, but with a sweet tooth I am more tempted to try the afternoon tea because the desserts look good on the other reviews especially the granita and trifle.

[Review 1630] Ginza - a totally different world in the morning @ 銀座蔵人 Ginza Kurando

銀座蔵人 Ginza Kurando

Noticed that they offered Breakfast buffets during the week so decided to try it out.
I assumed it was downstairs at the Canny Man but it was located on the first floor where Ginza Kurando is.
Ginza Kurando has been refurbished lately and the furniture and fixings are no longer black but they have used Pine wood.
For $98 there is free flow of juices, coffee and tea.
Payment is collected immediately so you are free to go when your finished.
However for the Chinese dim sums they did not have prawn dumplings which was disappointing and the sausages were chicken franks and not the true British type sausages.
My favourite items was the croissant and cheese!

[Review 1629] London Fog Habiccino @ caffè HABITŪ
29/06/2012
HABITŪ caffè (已結業)
灣仔告士打道77-79號華比富通大廈地下2Ba號舖
G/F, Fortis Bank Tower 77-79 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/london-fog-habiccino-caffe-habitu-e2242969
I was intending to go to Starbucks for their Green Tea frapuccino, however I saw the poster for this and decided to try it because it was also earl grey tea to compare it to Starbucks Hojicha.
After getting pissed on the Bailey's cream habiccino last time, I made sure this one was alcohol free.
There are two types of London fog, one is the Earl Grey Tea Latte and the other is the cocktail version made with 1¾ oz. of gin and ½ oz. of Pernod on frappé style crushed ice.
I was surprised to find out that it originates from Vancouver and not UK!
"London Fog is a proprietary name for a tea blended exclusively by Carnelian Rose Tea Co. Starbucks no longer used the name after being informed of the potential trade name conflict." saids Wiki, so I wonder if Habitu will stop using this name later.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
London Fog Habiccino
The drink was yellow cream colour sprinkled with earl grey tea leaves.
When I took a sip, the ice was not finely blended and extremely coarse, it was like drinking crushed ice and milky tea separately because the ice floated to the top and the drink sank to the bottom.
Compared to Starbucks earl grey latte, the tea was weak and it was really milky.
However the earl grey aroma was different to the aroma at Starbucks. At Habitu, they used earl grey syrup and Starbucks have used tea powder.
Overall I felt that Starbucks fared better in terms of tea taste and price but the sweetness at Habitu was lighter and more acceptable.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I hope to try the other FOG variations as well which are:
Manchester Fog- steamed soy milk with a sugar free vanilla syrup in Earl Grey tea,
Seattle Fog- soy misto (½ water, ½ soy, steamed) with 2 pumps of vanilla syrup and one pump of hazelnut syrup, in 2 bags of Earl Grey Tea,
Oregon Mist - same as London Fog, substituting Green tea and amaretto for Earl Grey and vanilla,
Sweet Treat London Fog - tea-less version of a cold London Fog, consists of chilled ginger ale and copious amounts of either lime sherbet or orange sherbet. As the sherbet melts, it gives the drink a foggy appearance,
Dublin Fog - same as London Fog, only substituting Earl Grey with Irish Breakfast Tea
Bangalore Fog - same as London Fog, only substituting Earl Grey with Chai
Atlantic City Fog - same as London Fog, only substituting Earl Gray with Rose Tea
Winter Fog - A London Fog in which the amount of vanilla is reduced and clover honey is added to taste.
Maui Fog - same as London Fog, only substituting coconut for vanilla syrup.
Starbucks Earl Grey Latte is a version of London Fog [in HK it is called Hojicha with tea jelly].
Tokyo Fog - same as London Fog, Matcha-based Green Tea substituted for Earl Grey.
Cape Town Fog - same as London Fog, Earl Gray substituted with Rooibos Tea
Durban Fog - A cross between a Cape Town Fog and a Bangalore Fog, basically the same as a London Fog, but substituting Earl Gray with Rooibos Tea and adding a pinch of tea masala.

There are now four quiche flavours at Pacific Coffee, the latest addition is Pumpkin and Ham.
The salmon and the spinach & mushroom used to be my favourite but now it is Pumpkin and Ham.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Pumpkin and Ham quiche:
As always their quiches taste really nice but it is slightly oily and there is some MSG in it.
I like their quiches because it doesn’t taste so eggy and there is cheese on top.
The one I had this time was pumpkin and ham, the pumpkin and ham was cut to thin slices.
The pumpkin was nice and molten, it was UNSUGARED which was good because the Chinese have a thing about putting sugar with pumpkin and in savoury dishes.
The ham in the quiche was from the same supplier, the same ham they put in their croissant which is dry and rubbery with a tough edge.
Overall I really liked it and if they had used a softer ham it would taste better.

[Review 1627] Fairwood's Ramen King in white, black and Red @ 大快活 Fairwood

大快活 Fairwood

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/fairwoods-ramen-king-in-white-black-and-red-e2242391
I never thought I would be trying the ramen at Fairwood because I just assumed Fairwood would be packed with people and the price of the food is quite expensive for self-service style.
The Ramen King is only served at lunch and DINE in only.
There are three different types, which are associated with colour the same as Butao: Black, Red and White.
White is the most basic ramen which comes in pork broth, red is the spicy one and black is black garlic oil.
All the ramen have a pork broth, topped with thinly sliced roast pork, black fungus, kelp, garlic puree, spring onion and an egg.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Black Ramen King
On the product shot there was generous black garlic oil and on the real thing it was barely visible.
For those who have not tried black garlic oil and are hoping to try it through the black king I suggest they can try Nissin’s black garlic oil instant noodles.
The sachet of black garlic oil from Nissin is more generous!!!
If it is someone’s first time trying black garlic oil, they are not going to get any memorable impression.
Other than that, I felt that these noodles were Jongkonised starting from the Chinese style broth which was really thin and the egg was hard poached too.
The pureed garlic was quite nice but not freshly made garlic puree and the noodles were similar to spaghetti which was really soft and thick. As for the soup it was quite tasteless that I had to add some chili from the other Red Ramen bowl.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Red Ramen King
This was basically the same as the above but served with chili oil which was so Chinese!
It had preserved beans in it, the exact same taste as Ja Jiang chili sauce.
Although it is not authentic ramen, the chili sauce made it quite delectable because of the preserved beans.

[Review 1626] Egg white delight ciabatta @ 星巴克咖啡 Starbucks Coffee

After trying the Hojicha and Green tea with Red bean frappuccino, I noticed the egg white delight ciabatta which I decided to try this time.
I also got the original green tea frappuccino as well to compare it to the Green tea frap with red beans.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Egg white delight ciabatta
The ciabatta was wrapped nicely just like a hamburger.
The fillings in the ciabatta was really nice, it had egg white, cheese and ham. It was simple but delicious.
The ciabatta was crispy and soft in the centre.
I thought the plain egg white was the best because the egg yolk is usually cooked and starchy in ciabattas or other sandwiches. Here it is just plain egg white, which is healthy for people who cannot consume too much cholesterol.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Green tea frappuccino
The green tea frappuccino in my opinion tastes better than the one with red beans because I do not like red beans, and this one is much creamier with extra whipped cream on top.
I requested for Vanilla free because the green tea powder itself is sweet.

[Review 1625] Great news for La Rose Noire fans with Passion @ Passion by Gerard Dubois

I have always been a fan of La Rose Noire, which has a section at the local supermarket.
They sell economical savoury and sweet pastries.
The sandwiches they do are great because they have all my favourite comfort ingredients such as chicken tikka and tandoori.
Their sandwiches are plain and simple with the 'normal' dressings and they have a strong reputation with the expats.
As well as pastries and sandwiches they have artisan cakes which can be seen online on their website but they were not sold at the supermarket.
I was so glad when this new place opened, located on the corner of Fraser House.
It is opened by Gerald Dubois, the owner of La Rose Noire ( which has a lovely website with pink and black as main colours and a rose).
They even have their deliveries delivered by their own La Rose Noire van.
Passion by Gerard Dubois houses all my favourite items from pastries, cakes to savoury items.
With this new place, I can't wait to see all his latest cake creations.
The prices are reasonable too perhaps slightly under priced because the whole interior and selection surpassed my expectations.
I loved the high ceilings and wooden fixtures, the whole place is just a wonderful place to stay for a rainy afternoon with people whizzing by while your divulging on delicious cakes.
Their nougats looked really good too especially the pink one.
Since I have tried their pastries I decided to try their cakes and vegetable quiche.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
La Framboise:
There were so many thin layers of cake and filling and on top there was lovely dehydrated raspberry bits.
The cake was quite sweet. It was dusted by delicate fine flakes of desiccated coconut.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
La Pistache:
This was my favourite, the taste was intense, although it was mainly meant to be pistachio, there were tones of raspberry and coconut in it as well.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Vegetable quiche:
The taste of the quiche was like savoury steamed egg because the egg taste was really strong and in the quiche filling were occasionally pieces of broccoli.
