I was not intending to try their froyo but they had the yoppucino, which was cappuccino with caramel froyo on top.
I was surprised to see they did a crossover with 酵母兵團 , as well as 酵母兵團’s yoppucino, they also had other drinks under the 酵母兵團 brand such as the green tea.
The concept was good but the sea salt was not sprinkled evenly so part of it was salty and I would have preferred natrual froyo instead of caramel.
The price of the yoppucino cost more at silly boo for $32, it only costs $26 at 酵母兵團.

[Review 1766] Delicious fillings @ 添記法式三文治 Tim Kee French Sandwiches

I have always wanted to try the baguettes here, but the location is far from the nearest MTR stations.
As I was coming by MTR, I could only choose between Jordan or Austin station to get off.
Made the mistake of choosing AUSTIN even though it was slightly nearer because you need to interchange trains about three times and the trains run on a five minute frequency which I could have walked from the Jordan stop.
What made it worse was that it was raining heavily that day when I got there so I couldn’t exactly give up!
Anyway finally got there and ordered the baguette.
Basically there were only three choices: garlic bread, small baguette and large baguette.
While I was waiting I saw some magazine clippings featuring their baguettes and there are four primary ingredients that they put in which are five spice belly, Vietnamese sausage, salted pork knuckle, French pate (I am guessing it is french pate because I cant read the Chinese).
When it was made, butter and mayonnaise was spread on the baguette first and it was filled with picked carrots, tomato slices and those four meats.
Usually I am picky and would pick out any fat pieces but when I knew it had pork belly after reading the feature it was too late so I left them in there, and secondly there probably wasn’t much pork belly in there in comparison to the baguette.
Luckily all the fillings in the baguette were heavily flavoured I could not taste the pork belly and the squishy fat!
The salted pork knuckles and French pate tasted the strongest and nice too.
There was strong black pepper in the baguette too. In comparison to Mr Baguette at Fortress hill and Wan Chai, I prefer the baguette here because there is pate, but at Mr Baguette there are more choices.
I liked the pate so much that I ordered an extra piece of garlic bread and pate so I could get a better taste of the pate. I should have done that with the pork knuckle too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Supersupergirl’s special order!!!
To be honest I thought this tasted better than the baguette!!

[Review 1765] Happy 35th anniversary to OCH and tks 4 da drinks @ The Old China Hand

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/happy-35th-anniversary-to-och-and-tks-4-da-drinks-e2257474
Found out it was their 35th anniversary and they are doing a lunch promotion for buy 1 get 1 free until the end of september 2012.
It was great because I love their food anyway!
Anyway ordered Bangers and Mash and Chef's Curry.
The pretty hostess said that there is only one free soup and drink for this promotion but she gave an extra drink which was nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup and Toast:
The soup was really nice, it was broccoli with big pieces of bacon in it, the broccoli taste was strong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bangers and Mash:
It was cumberland sausage and minted peas and gravy.
The cumberland sausage tastes stronger than pork sausages but since I prefer pork sausages I can't really comment, but the peas were nice and the gravy tasted nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chef's Curry:
This was amazing, I loved the yellow rice and peas, the curry was also amazing just like the ones in UK.
The spiciness was just right and not too hot. It tasted like Tikka.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon Tea:
The tea was good, lipton red tea with syrup and lemon added.

[Review 1764] BAKERY scrambled can be spelt BREAKY @ 龍珠餅店 Dragon Ball Cake Shop

Shop B1, G/F, Provident Centre, 33 Wharf Road, North Point

Although at the front of the shop BAKERY is spelt normal ie BAKERY, inside it is spelt BREAKY which is interesting.
Anyway, saw these green cakes so took a closer look and it was Pandan and not Green Tea so I decided to get one.
The shop assistant was really unbothered and rude but finally bagged it for me because the cake was in a separate cabinet.
The taste was quite nice, it had a strong pandan taste and the sweetness was just right, however the cake was too dry and hard on the outside but soft on the inside so I wonder how many days it has been sitting there.

[Review 1763] Dim Sum Indulgence that could be more adventurous @ 喜.喜點 Dim Sum Indulgence

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/dim-sum-indulgence-that-could-be-more-adventurous-e2257410
Found out about this place from the reviews, the dim sums looked interesting.
Between Tin Hau and Fortress Hill, there are many other all-day dim sums but I chose this place because the dim sums are not that traditional and it also had a nice English name.
The Chinese name reminded me of Jacky Yu’s Xi Yan restaurants.
On the wall they have a picture of a chef that is interesting because the Chef looks Caucasian so I wonder if the Chef is Caucasian because the name of this restaurant sounds Western.
I do hope one day that they have WESTERN dimsums like UK.
Most of the dimsums can be ordered in portions of 2 pieces or more so you can try out more varieties.
Ordered: Har Gau, King of Shaomai, Shaomai with wasabi and tomato, Roast pork, thousand year egg, pickled ginger puffs, Deep fried beancurd rolls with prawn, deep fried savoury meat croquette and spare ribs and chicken feet rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Shaomai with wasabi and tomato:
I think they got this inspiration from Tim Ho Wan because THW has a deep fried shrimp and pork dumpling croquette with wasabi.
The pieces of pork in the shaomai are not grounded but pieces of whole pork in the shaomai.
The wasabi element was good because it takes away the taste of pork.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Har Gau:
The prawn dumplings tasted how they should and the prawn dumpling skin stayed intact.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
King of Shaomai:
This was the same as the above but without wasabi and tomato.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast pork, thousand year egg, pickled ginger puff:
Surprisingly this was really nice, roast pork with pickled ginger so it tasted sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried beancurd rolls with prawn:
This was nice with whole pieces of prawns in it, but not as good as Lin Heung Tea house because this one contains MSG.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spare ribs and chicken feet rice:
The spare ribs were really soft and it must have been mixed with cornstarch for too long as the meat was pink.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep Fried Savoury Meat Croquette:
This was overdone, the croquette was rock hard and oily.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chili oil:
The chili oil must have gone off because it was not spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Over the food is OK and fairly cheap but the only problem was that it was too oily.

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/sandwichfaction-at-the-queen-victoria-e2257409
Food at QV is always great, but recently the sausages taste different, they are softer and less salty.
I wonder if the brand has changed because they do not taste as good as before.
Ordered the sausage sandwich and the cheese and pickle sandwich, both served with chips, however the chips were overdone and brown, I wish they were golden and soft inside.
I love the cheddar cheese and I also like sausage so I got both sandwiches and swapped the top half so that it was a cheddar cheese, pickle and sausage sandwich and it was delicious.
Hope they stock the sausages they had before because they taste much better.

After trying the hot pot, found out there were some other dishes to try so went back for the Steamed crab legs in egg white and Huo Diao Wine.
I have always wanted to try this dish but not many places have it.
The difference here is the crab, you are given crab legs instead of a whole crab and they do not have chicken oil on the egg white and it does not have 陳村粉 as served at The Chairman in Central.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed crab legs in egg white and Huo Diao Wine:
When it came the dish was piping hot, I tried the egg white first and I could not taste any Huo Diao Wine, however after letting the dish cool down for a while it tasted much nice and you can taste the wine.
The texture of the steamed egg was smooth.
The crab legs were manageable and with the aid of scissors the crab meat came off easily.
The crab meat was fresh and the unami taste was present.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bamboo Piths:
Had the hot pot a well and this time they were promoting bamboo piths which were impressively clean without sand.
