Cheap but only one item tasted good

Randomly came here and was greeted by a moody waitor who was not that polite.
He still had an atitude problem when I left and paid because he just slammed the change on the table.

Anyway, sat down and ticked the stuff I wanted and was given the bill where I noticed there was a $3 for the tea but no tea was on the table so I had to ask for it.

Although I don't like their standard pu'er tea, it was nice and hot.
There was a 12% discount because I went there during 2:30-6pm, so all the stuff below came to $88 but only the congee was good.

The dishes came quickly.

Lotus leaf wrapped rice in abalone sauce:

The glutinous rice came first but it was rather hard and barely hot.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Salted pork and preserved veg congee:
 0 讚好

Then came the congee which tasted the best because the preserved vegetables were tasty and the salted pork was fresh.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Vegetarian beancurd rolls:
The beancurd rolls were hard and oily and you could taste the oil was rather old.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
egg crisps:
 0 讚好

The egg crisps were not that good because the oil was old.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Dried shrimp and spring onion rice rolls:
 0 讚好

The rice rolls were weird, tasteless and oily.

Arome bakery has opened at Choi Hung MTR station and this spot used to be Okashi land.

Anyway, got two green tea desserts.
One was the green tea cheese pudding and the other was green tea pudding.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
uji matcha, kanten and cream cheese dessert cup:

The green tea cheese pudding reminded me of trifle because of the layers and it tasted a teeny weeny bit like trifle because of the raspberry fruit layer at the bottom.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
uji matcha, adzuki beans, warabi mochi dessert cup:

I liked the light green tea mousse and jelly mochis.

[Review 4649] Proper dinner at Fook Moon Lam Restaurant @ 福滿林酒樓 Fook Moon Lam Restaurant

It was an honour and a pleasure to join the Tai O food tour held by Tai O Heritage hotel because we got to try different joints in the lanes of Tai O.

Tai O is a lovely town on water which is themed as a Chinese Venetian with stilt houses on water.
They are also famous for fermented prawn paste.
I go to Tai O frequently because there are so many joints to eat with a good variety of snacks but I have never had a meal in these restaurants because I am usually full by then.
Thanks to the tour, we all had dinner here and I quite liked the food.

The fried rice was really good because it was cooked with dried prawns which give it a lovely salty prawn taste, and the steamed pork belly with prawn paste was not oily with a flavourful prawn paste infused in it.
Salt and pepper squid.

The prawns in salted egg yolk were fragrant and velvety.

[Review 4648] Nicepops at Little Burro @ Little Burro

Nicepops are now available at Little burro.

This brand has been in HK for quite a while but the flavours they had before did not interest me and I normally get my icelolly cravings from Icelicous or Lolas.
I finally tried it because of the green apple and cucumber iced tea flavour.

It was soothingly refreshing because of the cucumber and apple tones yet it was not too sweet.

It was an honour and a pleasure to join the Tai O food tour held by Tai O Heritage hotel because we got to try different joints in the lanes of Tai O.
There were three groups so each group tried different shops marked on their routes.
Tai O is a lovely town on water which is themed as a Chinese Venetian with stilt houses on water and they are also famous for fermented prawn paste.
As the tour was held by Tai O Heritage hotel, how could we not visit the hotel!!
Went to the Tai O Lookout which is a beautiful big greenhouse with scenic views of the place.
The drink was classy with two different colours which were roselle and apple juice.

After mixing it, the drink was very refreshing and not too sweet.
The others in the group had the abalone fried rice and quesadillas!!

This was a shop on our list which I have tried before.
Prices can be pricey but the squid with wasabi was good and the clams are good if they are in season.

其記 was one of the shops on our list and I was really chuffed because I have tried it before and the lemon tea is fantastic.
The lemon tea here is unique compared to others served in Hong Kong.
It contains no lemon slices which give off a bitter taste due to the lemon peel.
When I saw reviews of this strange looking lemon tea I just had to try it, and it tastes just as good as the Lemon Tea at Greyhound.

The price of the lemon tea is cheap compared to Greyhound.
I rarely order Lemon tea in Hong Kong because the tea that they use is not my cup of tea and for cold lemon tea, you need to request for no syrup or less syrup because the standard ones are far too sweet but after requesting, it usually ends up far sweeter than it should.
As well as the taste, the appearance of the tea looks like tea with a few drops of milk added to it and some lemon bits floating about served in a glass with a straw.
It was interesting watching them make the lemon tea because they make it like cocktails where they add various liquids and pour from one glass to another ensuring the lemon tea cocktail is mixed thoroughly.
On the table, there was an interesting bowl of water with a metal pot inside.
The water is like a moat so that ants drown before they can get to the sugar!!
Hence the name gik say ngai in Chinese.
