Thunderlicious thunder tea rice
2015-11-18 4533 瀏覽
Thunder tea (pronounced Lei cha in Mandarin, Lui Cha in Cantonese) originates from the Hakka people.
Thunder tea is tea grounded with basil, matcha, coriander, mint, sesame, chestnuts and more goodies into a paste.
At Sinmei's, the Hakka Thunder tea rice is rice served with egg, tofu, spinach, pickles, peanuts and the Thunder tea paste which gives it an amazing flavour because the paste is so flavourful.
As well as the delicious sauce, it is a nutritious meal of protein and calcium from the tofu, egg and spinach.
I love this dish so much that I have had it twice.
The second time I had it, the tofu was not pan fried and tastes even better.
++++++++++
Sinmei was so sweet and gave me a jar of this DELICIOUS sauce because she knew I loved it so much and it was just delicious with anything but I liked it simply with fries, bread and noodles.
++++++++++
Mithu!!

[Review 4809] Fake cheddar cheese @ Panash
17/11/2015
Panash

Shop E, G/F, Chong Hing Square, 601 Nathan Road, Mong Kok

Learnt a lesson previously at the Tai Koo branch that the freshly made sandwiches are not heated up by default when you order them.
At this branch, there was a nice yeasty smell in the air, which was promising as a bakery.
I requested to have my sandwich heated up but I was not asked what dressing or free topping which I found out when the person after me ordered.
Anyway, most of the sandwiches are pretty small so the only filling one that you can choose is a baguette.
When I got my sandwich I was pretty content to see the thick slices of cheese but they were not cheddar as stated and the taste and texture was like Mozzarella
The rest of the sandwich was ok because the mustard had a sharp taste.

[Review 4808] Mini noodles @ 畔溪尚粵館 Riverside Restaurant

Shop 235, 2/F, East Point City, 8 Chung Wa Road, Hang Hau, Tseung Kwan O

Randomly came here again and the food was rubbish!
This time I tried the e-fu noodles with prawns and when it came the broth smelt like vomit and it was milky so I am guessing they put milk that has expired into it otherwise it wouldn’t smell like vomit.
I am so sure there was gone off milk and cheese in it!
The soup is not meant to be milky according to the product shot.
The portion was tiny as well so I ordered this other noodle which said “Mini” on the menu so I suspect the prawn one is a mini bowl but not mentioned on the menu.
The dan dan noodles tasted weird because the broth was sour and it was also tasteless lacking peanut or any spicy flavour to it.
I was going to order the steamed egg but they ran out of oysters.

[Review 4807] Noodle place with good vegetarian selections @ 你我濃湯米線 You & Me Noodles

I was attracted to this place because there was peach tree gum on the menu but I had a feeling it wouldn’t be available because people don't really know what it is so they don’t order it and therefore it gets discontinued.
They also had this sweet fig soup.
Anyway, there is a good selection of vegetarian noodles and I went for the DIY choice and chose spicy broth with spinach noodles and bamboo piths.
The broth was spicy but tasteless and the noodles were hard.
I probably made a wrong choice but I will come back again because the prices are quite reasonable and better than the crap served in Quarry Bay and Tai Koo.

Pandan eggettes

I am not really keen on eggettes because the norm is mega sweet eggettes that are too sweet.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I noticed these wacky eggette flavours by MODOs because they had the orange club which is a popular biscuit in the UK from Ireland and this other one made with Campbells Borscht soup which I don’t know what to make of it yet.
I got the pandan eggette because I love this flavour and Modos speciailizes in pandan desserts.
The taste of these eggettes were amazing, crispy on the outside and chewy and soft in the middle with a fragrant pandan flavour that was not too sweet. I liked it because there was no eggy taste which is great for me but probably not favoured by others if they like that egg fragrance.
It was so nice that I ate it all, for other eggettes I only have one egglet and leave it.
Finished off with the Earl grey pandan tea which made it a perfect ending leaving a lovely pandan flavour lingering in the mouth.

[Review 4805] Pandan marshmallows @ 第一麵包 Top One Bakery

第一麵包 Top One Bakery

Shop 1B, G/F, Bijou Court, 171 Prince Edward Road West, Prince Edward

After having pandan eggettes at Modos, I was making my way to Prince Edward MTR when I saw this bright pink signage so went and had a look.
They had this scary looking Swiss roll which had red and green stars on it.
Then I noticed they had these huge square pieces of marshmallows covered in coconut.
There was mango and pandan so I got the pandan.
Typo? PANFAN?
Anyway, the marshmallow was quite nice with a fragrant pandan taste that was not too sweet but the texture was quite powdery though.
Other branches of Top One bakery.

[Review 4804] Not a secret anymore @ Secrets 5F

Secrets 5F
中環蘭桂坊德己立街30-32號加州大廈5樓
5/F, California Tower, 30-32 D'Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/not-a-secret-anymore-e2512753
California Tower of Lan Kwai Fong was re-opened last December housing many chic restaurants and clubs.
Zentral is the first Club to open with two floors on the 4th floor and 5th floor.
A great place located in the heart of LKF where all the restaurants are.
Secrets on the 5/F of Zentral is secret no more as everyone knows about the Friday 6-10pm Happy Hour that offers buy one get one free on some special cocktails costing no more than $100.

There are other drinks such as champagne, spirits, wine, liquor, mocktails and cocktails that are buy one get one free.
What attracted me was the CHEESE PLATTER and COLD CUTS because I love cheese which always go well with drinks better than chips and lame satays served at other places.

I got the basil limeade that is non alcoholic but it doesn’t seem to contain basil according to the menu because it has lime juice, lemongrass syrup, kaffir lime and ginger ale.

Anyway, it was a refreshing drink with a good fizz and I loved the cheese especially the creamy brie and cheddar.
