Previously, there were only a few items on the kids menu but Jamie’s Italian have a launched a bigger and better menu with more choices.
All of the dishes are not cooked with oil and come from a sustainable source.

The view-master (view-finder) is not as just a toy but serves as a visual of the kids menu because you can see what they look like!!
Check out the kids menu using the view-master (viewfinder).
There are also crayons to colour the menu and you can fold a flicker to decide what to eat.

It was hard deciding what to eat because there were chicken lollipops, mini beef burgers, pasta, picnic box and the fish in the bag.

Kids eat free from now till 18 Dec with any order of an adult main course before 7pm. Under 12’s can eat free at anytime before the 18th.
The kids menu is sustainably sourced and organic, available in two sizes, $68 for little kids & $78 for big kids, all served with a fresh shake-me salad & freshly squeezed juice.
The kids meal comes in two choices: small or medium.

We went for the small portion and it was not as small as you think and works out like an appetizer.
The chicken lollipops had three pieces of chicken skewers and the tiny bowl of pasta had more pasta crammed into it than you would imagine.

All meals comes with a cute shake-me salad and freshly squeezed juice.

The taste is not as bland as you think and I liked the least popular pasta because of the tomato taste with the crunch on top but not as cheesy as the menu states.

To be honest the fish portion was quite big for a kid.

I didn’t try the picnic box, but this stole the show because they are the same as the lunchboxes we took to school filled with chicken wraps, fresh grapes and cherry tomatoes.

Chinese Jaffa cakes

Went to ABC Cake Shop because I was shopping at this Asian store a few doors away.
This place used to be famous in Central selling addictive nougats but probably moved here due to high rents.
Anyway, I saw some nougats being freshly made so got a box for my friend but I didn’t get any for myself because I can't stop eating them.
I decided to try their bakery.
It was a difficult decision deciding between the coconut tart or the old style wafer cake but in the end I got the wafer cake because they said it had orange and peanut butter in it.

Basically, it tasted like a Jaffa Cake but better because the orange taste is more natural.

There was no wafer in the cake as the Chinese name suggests.

Went here because it was new and this branch is slightly different to the Wan Chai branch because the menu is bigger and better.

I just had the soup because I was early for dinner and needed a place to sit down.
The garden comfort was tomato soup with okra and lots of chunky vegetables.
It was on the sweet side though.

Previously dined here and the menu had a mix of Western and Indian dishes.
On this visit, it was mainly Western dishes which was slightly disappointing as I love Indian food.
Anyway, the set dinner had my favourite gnocchi so I wasn’t that annoyed.
For starters I had the black truffle naan which was fluffy and soft with a fragrant truffle paste.

I had gnocchi with butter chicken sauce.
The gnocchis were small but tasty looking like a plate of baked beans and the butter chicken sauce tasted more like chopped tomato with a touch of butter.

My friend had the lamb on a bed of beans which was quite nice.

Finished off with this creative Indian apple pie.

The reason I called it creative is because the menu says APPLE PIE so it looks a bit different.

They used these puffs which are normally served as appetizers and filled it with apple puree and paired it with Chocolate icecream but personally I think vanilla icecream would go better.
I also had the Indian icecream which came in the form of an icelolly. The recipe has been changed a little and it wasn't that sweet so I liked it.

The lassi I had was quite sour.

[Review 4822] Balls of rice! @ 泰園

Previously this place used to be Bubbles sushi but now it is a Thai restaurant with the same décor.

Anyway, went for lunch and had the Thai sausage salad and chicken with rice.
The Thai sausage salad was surprisingly big and the taste was strong and punchy with a strong spicy kick and refreshing crunch.

The rice that came with the chicken was a surprise because they were shaped into balls.

The chicken was tender and soft but the rice was heavily spiked with lemongrass so if you don’t like lemongrass then don’t order it.

Finished off with a refreshing young coconut drink.

On weekends they do Thai brunches.

Thai version of the Korean gejang crab!

[Review 4821] Chocolate souffle balls @ 翔龍拉麵小籠包 Cheung Lung Restaurant

The Tai Koo branch is crap but this branch is much better.
This time went for desserts and there are quite a lot of choices ranging from pulled sugar silk strawberries to souffle balls.

I tried the chocolate souffle balls because it is not often found on the menu.
The usual choices that you get are mango, red beans and custard.
The chocolate souffle balls were really nice, the egg white was mixed with chocolate and the inside was filled with chocolate sauce that was not sweet at all.
The savoury dish was too sickly though because the sesame sauce was too oily and sweet.
