Instead of starting winter with a hotpot, we decided to try this new restaurant called Steamy seafood cuisine, which is the latest trend where all food gets steamed.
It was my first time trying out steamed seafood.

The restaurant is big and spacious.

There is a chilled section that displays the seafood and other dishes.
Prices of the seafood are clearly displayed on the board.

There is a sauces and condiments bar for the seafood and they also have tubs of Apollo icecream.


The menu was really useful because it tells you how long to steam each type of seafood for.

At Steamy seafood cuisine, you steam one type of seafood at a time which is good because you can enjoy it freshly steamed and move on to the next seafood when your ready.

Beneath the steamer is a pot where they will place rice and meat so that by the time you finish all the seafood, you will end up with delicous congee infused with a mix of seafood flavours.

I really enjoyed the dinner because there was a good variety of seafood and I got to try a whole Alaskan crab and these huge oysters which I have not tried before.

Balmain bugs:
I couldn’t wait to eat this because there was roe on it and I don't often come across Balmain bugs let alone Balmain bug roe.
After it was cooked, the roe was vibrant orange.
Although the balmain bug tastes good, the roe stole the show because it is similar to prawn roe where it is crisp and filled with salty briny liquid.
The balmain bug tastes like tender sweet lobster but I would prefer it if they didn't put crushed garlic on it because I like eating seafood plain when it is fresh.

American Stone oysters:

These oysters were huge and remained the same size after they were steamed.


They tasted sweet and satisfying because of the size but one is probably enough per person.

Alaskan crab:



I have always wanted to try this and it was just fun to share a whole one!
It was so good that I want a whole one to myself next time.
The crab legs are big and the crabmeat comes out easily when you use chopsticks to push it out.
The crabmeat was just simply sweet with a strong taste of the sea!

Got the Mint Selection Box from a friend for Christmas which are my favourite treats.
I love mint chocolates.
In the box, there were two generous trays of Peppermint creams, after dark mints, crunchy mint truffles, mint wands, mint crisp signature and mint fudges.
My favourite was the mint crisp signature, which was dark chocolate with pieces of mint in it.
The peppermint creams were cooling and sweet.

After trying the new Hokkaido salmon burger, I felt that it was such a tiny burger and I didn't like the mentaiko sauce so I decided to get a filet-o-fish and combine it.

I also got a sausage egg muffin because Hong Kong does not have the GERMAN SAUSAGE DOUBLE BEEF BURGER so I used the beef from the Hokkaido salmon beef burger and added the sausage patty to it.

To do this, I got a Hokkaido salmon and beef burger, filet o fish and a sausage egg muffin which came to $55.x.
Hokkaido salmon burger + Filet o Fish!
A stronger fish taste with crispy filet o fish and delicate salmon.

Hong Kong’s McDonald’s has followed the steps of Taiwan and Thailand by launching the Hokkaido Salmon burger.
Taiwan launched the salmon burger in 2014 while Thailand launched it earlier last month.
The difference is that Taiwan used dill sauce and Thailand uses spicy mentaiko sauce, which is slightly spicy, and Hong Kong’s McDonalds are now serving the Thailand version.

To be honest I think dill sauce would be better as dill is normally paired with fish and this other blogger says so because he has tried both.

Anyway, I was lucky there wasn’t much sauce because I prefer Dill sauce to spicy mentaiko sauce anyday!
The salmon patty was coated in golden breadcrumbs and the texture of the salmon was flakey but not dry.
It was a nice burger but on the small side.

Although the sauce wasn’t good the onions made up for it because there was a nice raw onion spicy kick to it.

It is just as good as the salmon burger at MOS but the salmon texture is different, at MOS version is like slow cooked salmon and at McDonalds the texture is like a fried fish filet.

Another branch of Marks and Spencers!!
I think this is the best sausage roll ever invented because it has my favourite black pudding in it.
The black onion seeds on top which look like black sesame were really powerful because they had a very fragrant cumin like taste that is slightly spicy.

The sausage roll has a much richer and velvety taste and texture.
Luckily, these rolls are ready to eat hot or cold so anyone who does not have an oven can eat this.

Recently I saw this new shop listed in Central called Soya selling Singaporean tofu desserts so I decided to go and try it.

At Soya, there is seating so you can dine there comfortably.
The choices are slightly different and they have milk teas flavoured with pandan such as Pandan Taro milk tea and Pandan matcha with red beans.
They have rum tofu pudding and Baileys tofu pudding, which is liquor poured on top of the dessert.
I had the Pandan Taro milk, which came in a sturdy big plastic cup.
It was interesting because it had a fragrant mix of pandan and taro but the tea taste was prominent as well.

For desserts I tried the almond pudding and the original.
The almond one was really nice with a really strong almond taste while the original had a very strong soy bean taste as well as creaminess.

Sijie is a new restaurant in CWB but not new because they used to have a restaurant in Wan Chai.

They open at 6:30pm but customers were already there at 6pm and the tables were fully booked.

I liked the menu there because it works out to $300 per person and you get to choose two appetizers and 3-4 main dishes and when there is more people you can choose more and they adjust the portions and it still costs $300 per head.

Sichuan cold noodles:

Came here for this and it did not disappoint, each strand was tossed in this fragrant Sichuan sauce that was not too spicy.

The Poached Fish in Chongxing style looks spicy but the chilis are deceiving, in fact you can choose the level of spiciness,

The Chongxing-style steamed chicken with chili sauce had lots of flavours going on, there were spiciness from the chili and the grassiness from the Chinese celery.

It would be great if it wasn’t so bony.

The pickled vegetable soup with glass vermicelli was too spicy for my tastebuds and Sichuan glass vermicelli is slightly different because it is thicker and chewier and barely opaque.

The sweet and sour pork tenderloins were good but the pork was a bit too fatty and stringy with tendons attached to it.

The set menu also came with a dish of sauteed vegetables and rice.

I would be back more often if the elevator queue wasn’t so long.
