[Review 5132] Wintermelon and shrimp soup @ Tallore

Went past and saw this interesting prawn and melon soup so decided to try it.
It turns out that it was wintermelon and not melon as written on the label.
Anyway, it tasted quite nice because it was light but the ginger was a bit strong and overpowered the wintermelon and prawns.

[Review 5131] Great salted caramel milkshake as promised @ The Grill Room

I have been told the salted caramel milkshake is good here so went here again to try it.
As well as the milkshake I had the slow cooked salmon with yoghurt which was not on the menu previously.
At first it was quite sweet but then the saltiness kicks in and the taste is amazing!
Next time I am going to try the toasted Marshmallow.

This was new and I love slow cooked salmon.
You can see the beautiful soft centre and the salmon was really silky and tender paired with refreshing yoghurt.
It would have been nice if it was just a tad saltier but it was perfect already.

Went to the monthly BBC gathering for the first time at Canny Man.
Entry is free and you pay for your own food and drinks.
My friend had the steak pie which was a really big dish loaded with meat and gravy.
The gravy was delicious with chunks of meat in it.

My canteen for Indian food

This has now become my regular place for Indian food when I am in the area.
Both lunch and dinners are good.
For lunch, there is a not so Indian option but it is really good!
It is a fluffy omelette with chicken tikka in the middle paired with baked beans and chewy truffle naan bread.
For dinner, had this special roti which is light and crispy.
(I didn't order this because my Indian friend ordered it.)
My favourite curry there is the butter chicken which has springy and tender pieces of chicken in it.

[Review 5128] Eggette addiction @ 摩豆 Modos

Before Eggspectation and Modos came along, I have probably had at most 10 eggettes in my life because they don’t particular taste good in my opinion and often too sweet or eggy.

I began to appreciate eggettes when Eggspectation opened in Tsuen Wan, so I trekked all the way for it and it was good as expected.
Since it is quite far away, I haven’t really been back since.
Later I tried Modos’ pandan eggette because I love pandan and it was really nice but didn’t really get it again until a few weeks ago when I discovered they had Taiwanese pineapple cake eggette.
When I got there, I discovered there were more flavours including the existing Borscht soup and Jacob’s Orange.
[To be honest, the eggettes should be eaten right away when it tastes the best hot and crispy instead of taking pictures.]

++++++++++
Tried the red cheese eggette and the Taiwanese pineapple cake eggette.
I knew the red cheese was going to be good because red cheese is a decent cheese and not tasteless mozzarella.

The cheese was just damn good because they put some cheese before the eggette mixture is poured in so that there is crispy cheese on the surface giving it a cheesy taste as well as yummy cheese on the outside.
++++++++++
Next the pineapple was as good as expected because the pineapple jam was chewy and sweet without the annoying shortcrust butter pastry.

++++++++++
The Jacobs was also delicious because there was a natural orange and chocolate taste that Jacobs have but without the annoying biscuit bits.

++++++++++
I also had the honey which is eggette filled with honey bo ba pearls but you should brace yourself for bursting hot liquid as it is friggin hot.
++++++++++
A few weeks ago, waiting time was only 15 minutes and now increased to an hour Thanks to the media and when I got there yesterday, the pineapple and honey were sold out.

The owner of the shop next door is probably getting annoyed with so many people crowding outside.

I expect the Taiwanese pineapple to be a long term popular flavour.

[Review 5127] Something affordable for locals @ 郁健快餐 Yuk Kin Fast Food

On this stretch of Tai Ping Shan Road, it is mostly Western restaurants so Yuk Kin and this other Chinese eatery really stick out.
I tried this one because it was empty and I plan to try the other one later.
Prices are reasonable but considerably affordable in the area.

Anyway, the cheapest noodles were around 2X with egg and luncheon ham but as they had chicken on the menu I had chicken with instant noodles.
The chicken looked a bit dry but it was actually tasty and springy while the broth was a clear one.

Although the noodles are seemingly the Nissin brand, they were a bit sticky so I suspect it is the Nissin brand from China.

I was surprised they had lobster on the menu so went there to try it.

It was a lobster themed set with Lobster Thermidor and a lobster creme brulee with bread.

Lobster Thermidor is a French dish that is a creamy mixture of cooked lobster meat, egg yolks and brandy stuffed back in its shell.

I tried the lobster brulee first which had a thickish texture and a light lobster taste.

There is a crispy layer of caramel on top just like a creme brulee which I didn’t eat because I don’t like eating sweet and savory together.
Then I had the lobster which was really good because it was sweet, soft and springy unlike some places where it is dry and chewy.

The lobster was in this delicious gravy with lots of chopped button mushrooms that wasn’t too salty, but in contrast the lobster brulee could have been stronger.
