The pastas are a must try here because the executive chef used to work as a pasta chef in michelin starred restaurants.
The tasting menu changes all the time and this was the one that I had.

A nice sample of Involtini beef roll, cured rainbow trout, raw scampi, warm octopus salad, Involtini eggplant with pasta, parma ham with DOP mozzarella nad roast scallop.
My favourites were the octopus and the raw scampi.

Seafood tortellini:

I loved the tortellini because they were filled with delicious seafood complimented with broccoli puree.

Short rib and wagyu sirloin with mash:

The beef was ok but I didn’t really finish it because I was quite full.
++++++++++++++
Red wine pear:

For dessert finished with this deliciously poached pear in red white.
The red wine was reduced in such a way that it was concentrated in the pear.

I was captivated by their vegetable rice series, but unfortunately the baked chicken leg in salt was sold out so I had the pork chop.
It was Chinese pork chop, which was sliced and chopped in a weird way so the only edible part was in the middle and the rest was fat and bones.
The rice pissed me off so much because they used pearl rice and I hate pearl rice.
It pisses me off even more that in Hong Kong we are forced to eat pearl rice with Chinese dishes because it is cheaper than Jasmine rice.
Just imagine in India having to eat other rices because it is cheaper than their local rice!

Thai food served fast

Since my last visit, the food has improved.
The restaurant is a bit cramped so the other two branches might be a better choice.

The food comes shockingly fast!
I had the buk kut teh which comes with rice and the portion of rice was really generous which went nicely with the spicy chicken pot.
The buk kut teh was really good because there was a decent herbal taste but the temperature was not hot enough.

The chicken pot was really good because the chicken had a nice spicy flavour but it was chopped in a Chinese random way so it was mainly bones which made it difficult to eat.
The glass vermicelli with crab was surprisingly good because the vermicelli was tasty and the crab was fresh, but again there was too many small sharp pieces of crab shell in the vermicelli.

Finished off with the Thai style morning glory which had a strong prawn paste taste without being too salty.
Again, there was too much functionless pieces of non spicy chili that got in your way when you ate it.

Tried the rouge eclair a few weeks ago and didn't like it.
On this visit I was captivated by the coconut eclair.

It was really nice because there was a layer of chocolate between the fondant and the eclair which was crisp when you bit into it.
In the middle was this delicious light sweet coconut filling that was not too sweet complimented by the lovely dessicated coconut on top.

The first time I went here I fell in love with the rice and went again the next day.
The second time I went, it was still good but this time they gave me a plastic spoon instead of the metal one, so I asked for the metal one.
On the third visit, the rice and chicken didn't taste as good because it was not hot enough and the flavours were not so strong and the rice had a weird smell.
This time I was just given a plastic fork.

Got these for Christmas.

The Irish cream liquer chocolates were addictive because it was like eating Baileys icecream.

The bottle of white Christmas cocktail was really nice because it was pearlescent white and silver but unfortunately the alcoholic taste was too strong for me.

[Review 5134] Buffet time @ Mr. Steak Buffet à la minute

When Mr Steak was at Paterson Street, I used to go there frequently.
It was quite good back then offering lots of beef options before the whole of HK got their hands all sorts of beef.
There were oysters and a good choice of seafood but all these are basics of a buffet these days because lobsters and seafood are offered almost everywhere.
It started to deteriorate when more tables were added to the point they were almost touching each other so I haven’t been back since.

Now they have moved to the WTC, I decided to go again and see if it has changed.

The buffet area is evidently bigger offering lobsters and crabs but oysters seem to have gone.
There were other items such as Chinese soups, drinks bars, spinning salad bowl bar so it was quite good.
They had cheese, which was great, but the breads could have been better.

There was Peking duck too.

Every night people can have their messages written on plates and surprise their friends/family etc.

Customer service was quite good that night because they collected used plates and gave you new napkins regularly and even offered to help you take photos.
The food was great the but elevator queue was annoying.
