Went here for these orange skewers again because the queue here is not as long as the one in MK.
Normally I get the squid but this I decided to go for the set.
You get three skewers: gizzards, intestines and squid.
They were all fresh but I think I will stick to just squid next time because the gizzards are too crisp for my liking and the intestines were nice but having three skewers were a bit too much for me.
The squid remains my favourite drizzled with delicious sweet sauce and sharp mustard.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this place but I really liked it because it had a modern twist to the food.
They had English on the menu which was good.

As there was a group of us, they had chilled sake which was dispensed from the dispenser.

Pork salad with korean chili:
1 讚好
This was thinly sliced pork in kimchi sauce with silky tofu beneath it.
I didn't eat this because I don't eat kimchi.
++++++++++
salmon tataki with pomelo miso:
0 讚好
I really liked this because it was rolls of thinly sliced salmon in a delicious miso pomelo sauce with bits of onions and caviar on top.
++++++++++
7 kinds of assorted sashimi:
tuna, yellow tail, scallop, sweet shrimp, salmon and daily specials
1 讚好
It was presented beautifully and the sashimi was fresh.
++++++++++
seafood in tea pot:
0 讚好
There was quite a lot of soup in that tiny pot.
It had a strong whelk taste and you can add lime to it but personally I liked it without the lime because I loved the strong seafood taste.
After drinking the soup, you can take the lid off and eat the seafood inside the pot.
++++++++++
grilled tuna kama:
Although this is pricey but it was divine because the fish was silky and chunky!!!
It needs to be ordered in advance though.
+++++++++++
tempura butterly sillago:
The fish was silky and delicate.
+++++++++++
dried shredded squid tempura:
0 讚好
This is basically dried squid (yau yu si) dipped in tempura and fried.
I found it a bit sweet and chewy for my liking but fans of dried squid will love this.
+++++++++++
shrimp paste tempura:
The tempura was surprisingly good because prawn paste was really soft and springy and the colour was translucent wrapped in fragrant shiso leaf.
++++++
braised clams with sake:
Flawless dish because the broth was really good and the clams were clean.
++++++
minced pork eggplant with crispy cod chips:
This was quite different to how I thought it would be but in a better way because it was modern.
Basically you put the minced pork on the cod crackers to eat.
+++++++
There was sushi as well but I was too full for it.
tuna tataki with sesame:
shrimp with wasabi sauce:
tuna roll tempura with mentaiko sauce:
++++++
homemade cold noodle with sesame sauce:
Basically it was spaghetti in sesame sauce which was different because spaghetti has quite a different texture compared to Japanese noodles.

[Review 5235] Great yakitori experience @ 八焼鳥屋 Yayakiya

I don't often eat Yakitori because it is meat and more meat but here there is a good variety with tempura as well.
The place is modern decorated with pictures of Einstein and they have an English menu.
Started with edamame Soy Beans.

Then we had Mirin Dried Puffer Tempura which was sweet and soft beacuse the puffer slices were thickly sliced giving it a nice chew.
0 讚好
The star of the show was the mixed seafood Wafer Chirashi Sushi which had minced tuna, Fish roe and Sea urchin and rice which makes it photogenic and fun to eat.

The mackerel tempura was brilliant because the oil was fresh and you can see that the tempura batter is light and crispy with silky fish in the middle and you don't often get mackerel tempura on the menu.
The Hakata Style Small Dumplings were crisp with juicy meat filling in the middle.
For Yakitori we had Wagyu Beef Sukiyaki Rolls with Egg for Dipping.
There were two types:
M7 Wagyu Beef wrapped with Enoki mushrooms and Mizuna;
M7 Wagyu Beef wrapped with wheat bran.
The one I ate had enoki mushrooms and the pairing of beef and juicy mushrooms never go wrong.
Then we had Pork Belly Rolls filled with Hakata Mentaiko Spicy Cod Roe.
This had a salty touch to it and it was filled with so much mentaiko in the middle.

Ox Tongue Skewer:
(I didn't try this)
For shellfish, there was Hokkigai, Whelks, and Scallops which was cooked in broth leaving it tasting sweet and natrual because fresh shellfish does not really need strong condiments.
Next was the Hakata Grilled Pork Knuckle which I really liked because it was soft and gelatinous with a nice salty taste to it.
These Tokuhsima Awaodori Chicken Wings were huge and they were crispy and salty.
As we were still a bit peckish, we had grilled rice balls with pork and miso, they were crispy and soft in the middle flavoured by the miso.
Dessert was warabi mochi which was soft and sweet.
Sake Cucumber Mojito:
Apple Sabi:
If you drink sake, the apple sabi is fun because you can add pieces of apple and wasabi to the drink.
There is a sachet of popping candy to make the sake experience even more fun.
I had the Lychee Refresh which was appetizing because it was a concoction of lychee and cranberry juice.

Freshly steamed seafood

I have had steamed seafood before but not like this.
At Steam Fresh, they serve Korean style steamed seafood.
0 讚好
There are various choices to choose from, the one we had was the Seoul tower.
0 讚好
0 讚好
The steam tower works by putting layers of different seafood on each layer and steaming it.
The bottom most layer is the one that needs more time steaming so you eat each layer from top to bottom.
There are sauces for the seafood.
0 讚好
All the seafood was sweet and delicious.
Razor clams and clams.
Prawns and scallops
Crab:
Vegetables
The last stage was the best because it was congee and Korean ginseng chicken soup with seafood essence.
The seafood and congee was surprisingly filling and there is a sink for you to wash your hands before you go.
Next time I will come with more people to try the other towers that they offer.
