Food was ok here but I hate the apple flavoured compulsory tea which is not free.

The catfish was good but not spicy compared to Sichuan places and the fish was delicious but I seem to be allergic to catfish because I had this twice and vomitted afterwards.
The oysters in liquor were disappointing because the batter was soggy and the sauce was too sweet for my liking.

Since they opened last year, I have always wanted to try it.
Burger Joys location has quite an advantage because it is located next to some busy pubs that attracts late night diners and in the daytime it is an option for offices nearby.

Finally went to try it out.
Before I went, I researched on the burgers they had on social media and decided to get the fish burger, cheese and mushroom burger, cajun fries, American breakfast and a float!

Chocolate float:
The drink was a good start because you pour the coke in yourself.

I like to pour a little in at first so that the float becomes thick with a strong chocolate taste.

They had truffle fries as well but I prefer cajun because I just like Cajun!~!~

cheese and mushroom burger with extra Maytag Blue cheese:

There are two vegetarian burgers and this one seemed better because the patty was made with five different mushrooms and mixed with tater tots which is then frozen and grilled to order.
Each bite was delicious and the lettuce, tomatoes, guerkins and purple onions all blended in nicely and the extra Maytag Blue cheese I opted gave it an amazing cheesy punch.

fish burger:

Ordered the fish burger because I saw photos of lovely flaky fish and they use Japanese bread crumbs which is much lighter and crispier.

American breakfast:

They also do breakfast so I had that as well.
(I put the bacon and egg in my mushroom burger and made it into a super burger.)

The fried egg came with a face which was quite cool.

This joint is really good so I hope they open another branch in Central/Sheung Wan.
It is reassuring that the team behind this joint is American hence the yummy burgers.
Previously Burger Joys made me think of Jolibee because they have this set called chicken joys.

I am a regular at Wong Chi Kee especially the Central branch.
As I was in CWB, I went here for lunch and it was packed that they had to have the second floor open.

Started with the soups because they had my favourite whelk soup and dried vegetable soup.




For a change I decided to get the dandan noodles and the Jahjiang noodles because I always get these two mixed up.

Jahjiang noodles:
The jahjiang noodles had lots of pork on top and the sauce was very sweet.

dandan noodles:
The dandan noodles were in a thick spicy sauce and the noodles at Wong Chi Kei are really thin so it hangs the sauce well giving a strong taste.

Also had the Portuguese crusty bun with mayonnaise and egg because I love their crispy buns, there is a truffle version but I have already tried that.
Next time I will order the crusty buns with their signature braised beef.

Exclusive at this branch, they serve oolong tea with rose!~

Went here for late lunch and it was nice and quiet as all the people have gone back to their offices.
Started with a nourishing Chinese soup which had whelks and Chinese herbs.The soup had a strong unami taste.
For my lunch I had Spicy tofu with rice.The portion was quite big and the tofu was really amazing because it had a lovely Sichuan peppercorn flavouring and there were black beans in it that gave it more depth.
It was so good that I nearly had two bowls of rice but as I was having dinner later, I only had one.

Old Hong Kong and oyster buffet

Bistro on the Mile is currently doing an Old Hong Kong themed buffet every night hence it has old posters and bird cages about in the restaurant.
As well as that they have an extra theme which is different every night.

That night it was oysters.

Other dishes in the old Hong Kong theme:
For drinks, it was impressive because they have hot chocolate as well as tea and coffee and they are also doing a free flow promotion.

I really enjoyed the buffet because it was oyster night so there was so much oyster variety.
The smoked oysters were really good and the oyster in wine jelly was refreshing.


As well as Chinese oysters, I had the nourishing Chinese soup which is different every night.

It was interesting having soba noodles with Indian curry.

They had lots of drinks but I fell for the chocolate because I love hot chocolate and not many places have free flow hot chocolate.
