Great roast chicken

Went for early dinner and here was what we had.
Started with the Classic antipasto which was salad and I don't know what to make of it because if you google antipasto it's not salad but then it doesn't defy their menu.
I found the dressing a bit too sweet.
Next we had the octopus salad which was a huge tentacle that was grilled.

The paprika oil and chili flakes helped to give it more flavour.
For pastas, we had the pasta al forno which had delicious tasty slices of chicken sausage but the sauce was too creamy for me and there was mozzarella on top.

The chicken was perfectly roasted, I loved the crispy wafer skin and the chicken was springy and tender.

The tiramisu had traditional ladyfinger biscuits which is good because restaurants rarely do it the traditional way.

To finish off, had the chocotini and bit bitch.
The chocotini was a bit too sweet.

The drinks list is going to go well with girls because there are lots of floral mocktails with rose syrup and elderflower as well as mint for mint lovers.

Three course sunset dinner for only $498

After reading HKE's review, I thought dinner was worth trying because it was only $498 for three courses.

The view and ambiance was definitely good.
There is a clear unobstructed view of Hong Kong on a nice day where you can see as far as Causeway Bay and Central.
Started with a selection of breads complimented by a garlic mayonnaise dip.
My favourite bread was the fig because it was crispy with a hint of sweetness but the other two breads were good as well.
Started off with the lychee mocktail and I loved it because it was not too sweet and there were bits of citrus fruits in it.

For the first course, I had the Cristal blue prawns tarter (+$98) which had creamy burrata on top.
The portion was quite big.

Also had the vegetable tempura which went deliciously well with the sweet black truffle sauce.

For the mains, there was beef cheek and ravioli which I had to have because they are both my favourites.
The beef cheek was soft and silky.

The other main we had was the salmon also grilled to perfection.

Great views of Hong Kong.

To finish we had the dessert platter which is a feast for two people!
You get to personalize a messasge on the dessert platter so I chose supersupergirl on the go!
On the dessert platter, there was: chocolate eclair, lemon sorbet, tiramisu and a chocolate lava cake.

My favourite was the tiramisu because the whipped layers were extremely light and airy.

At City Garden Hotel, there are some enchanting desserts inspired by Chocolate Rain’s latest fantasy book “Magic Black Forest”!

There are four desserts in the series:

Chocolate Rain Forest

Treasure Box

Rainbow in the Sky

Magic Mushroom House

You can order these individually or order the whole set for $350.

Tried the set and my favourites were the treasure box and the rainbow in the sky.
The layered panna cotta reminded me of the award winning steamed egg dish also available at City Garden's Yue.
I found the green cucumber panna cotta interestingly refreshing with a strong cucumber taste.
As for the treasure box, it was more like a treasure bag filled with fluffy cream, walnuts and banana tied with a cola string.

Walked past a few days ago but didn't go in because there was such a crowd.

Later I regretted it because I found out that there was a 20% discount and they had a new chocolate and cheese Austrian bun flavour.
Anyway, finally went and got the chocolate and cheese Austrian bun to try which cost $28.
At the counter, one of the girls had smiles while the other did not.

I think this so called Austrian Cheese bun is inspired by the Topfenstrudel which is a cream cheese strudel because I get no result for Austrian cheese bun except for Chinese media!!

As I have never had it before I always thought that it would be like a big piece of souffle but it wasn't.
It looks like a big piece of soft souffle because the middle part filled with cheese is dusted so you can't see the bun part.

The other side where it is not dusted you can see it is a bun!

The middle part is filled with cheese and chocolate filling.

After trying it, it basically tastes like a bun with a fluffy soft croissant texture that has not been baked filled with heavy chocolate cream but I wouldn't say that it was cheese.
But by Hong Kong standards, anything creamy = cheesy!

If I walk pass again, I might try the original.
And yes I did pay for it.

[Review 5381] Brunches everyday @ Oldish

Oldish

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/brunches-everyday-e2618366

Usually all the exciting brunches happen during the weekend but here they serve brunches during the weekday until 5pm including a drink.
There is a choice of full breakfast or eggs benedict and they let you choose a good variety of teas so I chose my Earl Grey but then they told me you can also order the apple tea as well without any extra charge so I had that instead.

Started with the apple tea which came with apple slices floating on top.
The taste was surprisingly natrual and not cloyingly sweet with a good balance of apple to tea.

It also came with beetroot soup which I didn't see on menu so that was a bonus.
There was a nice nutty taste to it because there were bits of almond in it.
Then my lovely eggs benedict arrived which came with a huge pile of salad.
Perfect on a hot summers day.

The salad dressing was really appetizing so I ate the salad first before starting on the benedict.
It was a bit strange they used a raisin muffin but the parma ham made up for it because there was so much parma ham and the egg was poached just right with a runny yolk complemented nicely by the creamy avocado.
