I was invited to try this newly opened restaurant serving Chiuchow cuisine which I rarely eat so most of it was new to me especially  the dimsums.

Started with these pretty pink Glutinous rice dumplings filled with peanuts and shrimps.

The filling was quite starchy.

Deep fried baby mackerels with plum sauce:

I love fish and it was fried perfectly but you have to be careful of fine bones.

Stewed pigs three treasures with pickled vegetables:
I am not keen on offal but the pickled vegetables were good at getting rid of the offal smell.

Deep fried golden dumplings:
These were a bit oily for me.

Steamed rice rolls filled with dried shrimp and preserved meat:
Cute bite sized rolls which made them more appetizing.

Chive dumplings:

The dumpling skin was nice and elastic and the filling  had lots of chives in it.

Stir fried pomfret with preserved vegetables:
Again I like fish so I loved the big chunky pieces of fish.

Rice with salted pork and taro:
I was quite full by the end so I didn't try this.

I was really glad my dearest friend chose this place to celebrate her birthday because I have always wanted to try Jimmy's Kitchen.

There are two branches, one in TST and the other one in Central.

Started with pickled onions which I haven't had in ages because we used to have them at school in the salad section.

They tasted how it should, crunchy soaked with a vinegary taste.

Next we had the liver pate which was really silky.

The prawn cocktail was good and the salad beneath it was delicious and tastes like the prawn cocktail dressing in UK which is a mix of tomato sauce and salad cream.

The dry curry chicken was interesting, the chicken was coated in a soft coating which is different but tasted good.

The accompanying chutneys were tasty!

I wish trifle was on the menu to give it that British finishing but it wasn't.

I quite like this place because everything is OLD including the massive air con machine etc.

They serve the usual Chinese fare but the old guy that works there is really cute!

The first time I went there he was really cocky and snappy, when he saw me taking photos of the food he positioned the plate of food at what he thought was a better angle for pictures.

I saw photos posted on social media that this place will close down on the 31st Dec 2016 so I decided to go there one more time.

I had the beef flat rice noodles which were quite hard, I suspect this is not their usual supply because it is the type you have to boil first and since they are closing down it is not wise to order lots of fresh ingredients.

Other than that, it tasted really good and I liked the bent metal plate which they have probably used for years and many years to come if they didn't have to close down.

When I left I took a photo with the old guy and he was really cute and posed the same way I did.

Cassio is opened by my favourite group dragon-i and in the kitchen it is helmed by THREE Spanish chefs!!
One of my favourite chefs Martin Currasco works there and he recently went to London's Michelin starred barrafina for training.
At Cassio you can expect high quality food here and some unique dishes created for the Hong Kong palate.
We began with the popular Sangria soaked with rich red berries that releases the sugar into the drink.
I had the Cassio lemon which was strawberries in macerated Sherry vinegar, basil, compressed citrus and soda water.

Boy you can really taste the vinegar in it.

Dining at the bar table can be very distracting because Sebastian is really good looking that it is hard to focus on the food and remember the how it tastes!!!!

(For the whole night I kept looking down at the table to stay focused!!)

You will only find this at Cassio because they created this for HKers.

Croquetas with a twist filled with silky seafood bisque bechamel and pieces of springy prawn.

Stuffed courgette flower with mushrooms, Alaskan crab lightly coated tempura batter.

It was beautiful how the flower was stuffed with crab and then lightly fried.

Inside the filling was rich and tasty complemented by the baby sweet courgette.

Marinated olives:

There were three types of olives gordal, manzanilla and kalamata.

A lovely assortment of olives which were salty and nutty in flavour.

Spanish red prawn:

Spanish red prawns always taste good, they don't need any special seasoning.

You get bread to dip that delicious sauce so don't forget to squeeze the head for the best bit!

spinach pear salad:

A nice mix of pomegranite, balsamic vinegar, pecan nuts and Idiazabal cheese.

Classic potato omelette:

There are three different omelettes that they serve and they are must order items because the inside is runny so you won't find another tortilla like that unless it gets copied.

A deliciously simple omelette made with fine eggs and potatoes.

Juicy seafood rice clams red prawn:

This is a bit like paella but it comes with more broth which makes it even more yummy topped with fresh clams and red prawn.

Stuffed chicken wings:

Hong Kongers love chicken wings so Cassio has searched their recipes for chicken wing related dishes and created this.
They are juicy wings stuffed with prawn, mushrooms and zucchini.

vegetable menestra:
As a veggie lover, I loved this because it was vegetables in a foie gras stock which is not as heavy as you would think.

It had my favourite romanesco and okra.

I was really full but we still had the Macedonia dessert which was fluffy vanilla chantilly with a filo cracker topped with fruit.

Went here again because the veggie balls were sold out last time.
On the last visit, I was puzzled why people kept pouring liquid from the metal flask when there was hot water in the machine.
I finally found out why when someone used a clear bottle and it turned out to be milk they were pouring so you can get free milk here lol!!!

Veggie balls with big couscous pearls:
Tried this before and I hated the sauce. On this visit, I forgot to ask them not to put it in.

Anyway, the the veggie balls are more filling now because they give you big couscous pearls (underneath) for the same price.

Pizza:

A nice slice of pizza with a soft base and melted cheese.

Simple and delicious with a tangy tomato paste.

I didn't like this because there was a weird plasticky smell and taste.

Tried to order food but the stuff I wanted was sold out.
