Heard of Mike's from Sai Kung but SK is troublesome so when I found out they were at The Mira I decided to go and check it out.
The restaurant is spacious with good vibes.
Began with some decent bread that was piping hot with a lovely yeasty aroma served with olives and butter.
For appetizers had the bacalhau and cheese toast.
The cheese toast had a strong cheese smell but strangely it was sweet.
The Bacalhau fared better.
The potato soup was really comforting because you could really taste the potato.

For mains had the Brazilian Curry with lemon rice.
The lemon rice was so good on its own but even better with the fragrant sweet curry that had banana slices in it.
Finished with the desserts which were just as good especially the cinnamon toast which tasted like a delicious sugar and cinnamon coated donuts.
The green cream brulee was amazing because it was a silky pot of blended avocado and lime which was really refreshing.

My friend had the apple pie.

Noodles all the way from Yuen Long

Finally tried it because this is a noodle joint from Yuen Long in the New Territories so wanted to compare it with the one in Sai Kung also in the New Territories.

The queues are long and it was packed with people, the floorplan is not an effective use of space but rather it causes congestion because the queue at the entrance separates the two sides of the restaurant.
All I can say is portions are big and it was very spicy.
They must have paid a lot to keep that huge bamboo banner up there as most surrounding shops would have complained or taken legal action.
There was so much seaweed in the noodles and it was clean without any grit however the soup was extremely salty.
The blood curds were rather sweet but then that is how they are meant to taste.
The kaya toasts were really good as the bread was light and airy which went well with the sweet paste.

Intrigued with these taro noodles I decided to give them a try, it wasn't starchy as anticipated but they had a normal pasta texture.

The only complaint would be the portion size because it is really too small that I would need three boxes to fill me up.
I was really impressed with the noodles because they were not clumped together as most chilled noodles are.

The black soy milk mayonnaise gave it a nice creamy flavour without being too sickly.

I was expecting the chicken to be dry slices of chicken breast but it was totally soft and tender.
To  be honest, I think it is processed chicken like chicken ham or the stuff you get in chicken nuggets because the texture looks reprocessed.

Since the last visit, they have some new truffle dumplings. So ordered the truffle dumplings and the matsuke dumplings.
Both were really good but I prefer the Matsuke because it has an earthy taste.
The truffle was also ok but not as outstanding as the Matsuke.
Also had the cabbage dumplings which were really tasty with lots of cabbage which a juicy crunch to it.
Finished with the golden preserved eggs which had a fair bit of runny yolk in it so it was delicious and rich.

On this visit to RPH, discovered it was their 20th Anniversary!!
Began with the nourishing and tasty soup which is part of the Flavourful wellness set.
Next was the Steamed Half Boston Lobster with Crushed Garlic and Hua Diao Rice Liquor which won the Bauhinia award.
I definitely loved it because the glass vermicelli soaked the liquor yet it wasn't oily.

Th Halibut trio was also another award winning dish at Hofex.
The smoked one had a lovely twist to it.

As a fish lover, the Baked Fillets flavored with Smoked Rosewood were a treat and the texture was firm with flaky.

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary they had prawn toast, a classic Cantonese dish.

A meal is not complete without chicken and this one had perfectly crispy skin and the chicken was tender.

The Pan-fried Minced Beef with Air-dried Tangerine Peel made me feel nostalgic because the aged peel had this old bookshop smell to it.

I used to dine at the Wanchai joint but they have now moved to QB.
Got the donburi with uni and salmon.
The salmon was fresh and the uni was creamy which went with the rice perfectly.

Also had the salmon roe and uni sushi which was very satisfying as the salmon was thickly sliced topped with my favourite popping salmon roe!

This place was popular when they first opened. They turn your favourite candies into shakes with a choice of Western candies and Asian candies.
Evidently I went for the twix milkshake because this is a chocolate bar that I can relate to.
The noodles were a bit bland so next time I'll just grab a drink!
