At first I got this place confused with Gungwohdaubaan because the stuff they serve is quite similar.
I got the marinated tofu puffs which I really regretted because there was an incredible rancid taste. The marinated tofu cubes would have fared better because they are not fried.
As for tofu pudding and soymilk, the choices are impressive because you can get almond soymilk and chocolate soymilk.
Anyway, I had the tofu pudding with grass jelly which was quite different to someones photos because the grass jelly cubes were much smaller!
The tofu pudding texture was really different to the usual as it was curd like with a subtle bean taste.

Unfortunately, I had stuffed myself full earlier with delicious burgers hence had a light dinner here.Had the Cheese salad which was drizzled with a nice dressing that tasted like Caesar but the cheese was not cheddar.
It was a very mild cheese which makes it more palatable for HKers.
For drinks had the grapefruit soda which was refreshing.
But anyway, the star of the show had to be the strawberry yoghurt.
It tasted more like strawberries and cream blended together which an icy touch as there was lots of blended ice in it.

Everything in Wanchai is constantly changing, even the famous goose shop has moved down the road and there is a new shop nearby solely serving Chinese tea and coffees.
As a Wanchai foodie, I had to check it out but there are so many negative comments on this place that I had to choose the food carefully.
They serve the usual Hong Kong style stuff and lots of freshly baked pastries at the front.
I went for the kaya toasts because I love Kaya.
The appearance of the Kaya is a bit different in colour, it was orange and quite thick.
Toast was fluffy and light and it was not too sweet.
It was so good that I had another because I was still hungry.

This joint serves great pho but we ordered other items to share as there were eight of us.
Started with the spring chicken which was marinated in fragrant lemongrass.
The chicken was tender and there was a lovely lemongrass aroma when you ate it.
The grilled fish with Lemongrass was moist and complemented nicely by the sauces.
There was also the crispy pork knuckle which had a lovely thick crispy skin to it just like pork crackling.
For carbs, I liked the pineapple rice which had preserved sausages in it that gave it a smokey twist.
The Brussels sprouts turned out to be my favourite because they were flavourful and they are my favourite roast dinner veggies.
We had ricerolls and there was prawn or mango.
The prawns fared better because of the chives.
On the light side we had the grapefruit salad which wasn't artificially sweetened.
The butter wings are a must order because they are addictive.
The steamed pancakes were really good as they were loaded with minced pork, diced radish and carrots with a hint of black pepper.
For desserts, had the pandan layered pudding which was not too sweet and I quenched my thirst with fresh young coconut water.
Anyway, will return for the noodles.

Korean style new year

A few years ago Korean food became popular due to the K-Pop industry and it has been so successful that there are so many places for Korean food.
You can now celebrate CNY at Meokbang with the Korean New Year Set.
The set is quite filling and here is what you get:

Salad:

Pickles and Appetizers:

The Korean style box which is similar to the ingredients you get in bibimbap but served with pancakes which tastes like those Mexican corn tortillas.

In the meats section, there was hinly sliced steak, Hanwoo plate, prawns, pork belly, ox tongue and leju hanwoo brisket.

On the hot side, there was soup with dumplings and Korean style new year cake which looks like two co joined tapioca balls which were chewy and delicious.
The dumplings in the soup were flavourful with lots of chives.

Finished with two fizzy drinks and pineapple was my favourite.

Tried other restaurants from this group and this one was the worst.
At the entrance, there is a rotisseries but as you can see the chickens are dead flat!
The restaurant was pretty empty and strangely they arrange people to sit with others on the same table which is so Chinese.
The hot drink was served with this disposable spoon where you can see it has been obviously reused so many times.
The lobster broth pasta was very salty but the thing that ruined it was the black pepper.
Otherwise, it would have tasted quite nice.
Another interesting ingredient was the shiitake mushrooms!

I thought this joint was new but it used to the restaurant a couple blocks round the corner on Landale Street where I used to go for their scrambled eggs with Vietnamese Sausage.
The restaurant that used to be at this spot used to be Vietnamese Woods or something like that.
Anyway, the menu is bigger and better than before.
Started with the classic Vietnamese noodles and the broth was strong and rich so the noodles soaked it well.
The steamed pancakes were quite elastic with a slight oily surface filled with lots of chunky carrots, radish and minced meat with a strong black pepper taste.
The Banh Mi was a little disappointing because it was just different, there were no pickles but lots of julienne carrots, cucumbers and lettuce which was a bit strange.
The way it was toasted looked very Cantonese as well.
Last but not least was the bun hoi,  and that was my favourite.
It was new to me because I rarely eat Vietnamese food but it was almost similar to Sri Lankan hoppers but flavoured with crispy onions and tasty spring onions.
Finished with the salted lemon drink which was strangely sweetened.
Anyway, despite some hits and misses, they are back in Wanchai.
