[Arome Bakery] Milk puddings
2018-06-27  132 瀏覽
Currently Starbucks and Arome Bakery have puddings in nice sturdy plastic tubs.
Previously tried Starbucks and now I am trying Arome Bakery.
In terms of packaging, the Arome Bakery tubs are stronger and better with a spoon inside.
As for the flavours, there were Matcha and Milk Pudding.
The texture is totally different from Starbucks because it is soft and silky like tofu and disintegrates in your mouth.
In terms of taste, it was very creamy and milky but it was too sugary sweet in taste and smell for my liking.

Patisserie Mon cher used to do these cute Hello Kitty cakes which were really popular.
They now have a branch on Lynhurst Terrace selling cream cakes and softserve.
As I love cream, I went there for the Cream Roll but it was sold out.
The fruit sandwiches looked good but I ended up having a lemon mousse cake and a softserve to cool myself on a hot day.
There are some cute toppings for the softserve but I like mine plain.

10% off for posting pictures on Eye Jee!
The softserve was really creamy and full of flavour without being too sweet.
It was really good that they used Hokkaido Milk to ensure an above average softserve.
The lemon was soft and fluffy with a light lemon jelly topping while the portion was just right for one.

I was there on the 22nd and tried the Tasting Menu ($328 per person) which can also be ordered a la carte.

Appetizer platter:
Crispy Pork Rolled Bean Curd Loh Bak with Cucumber and Red Onion, Nonya Mango with fresh mint, chili, red onion and ginger flower and Mackerel Fish Otak Otak with coconut cream.
I liked the Otak Otak as it was made with Mackerel and the texture was like Salmon Terrine while the salad was refreshing.

Soup: Kambing Soup (lamb soup):
This was my favourite as it was strong with lots of spices just like mulligatawny.

Guest Chef preparing Teochew Bak Chor Mee at the live cooking Noodle Station.

Teochew Bak Chor Mee:

The noodles were very sweet and spicy!
++
Degustation of main courses:
Wok fried Crayfish in creamy salted egg sauce, Kurobuta Pork Rib Bak Kut Teh and Baked Sambal Stingray with Chincalok and calamansi.
The crayfish was so damn good because of the sauce and the bak kut teh had a nice peppery tone.
Some people might find the stingray quite spicy even though it has been toned down for the tasting menu.

For desserts, I loved the Durian Bubar Terigu which was not too sweet packed with healthy ingredients.

[Review 6640] In search of my favourite faan hup @ 鳳凰燒臘飯店 Fung Wong Roasted Meat Restaurant

For years, I was fed food from here which I didn't even know.
At that time, I didn't really explore Chinese BBQ meat so didn't realize I was having such delicious food as I took it for granted.
Every location and time we had these faan hups, the food was hot and the meat tasted fresh.
Often, the faanhups would be waiting for a while before we ate them but the rice and meat would still be hot and there wasn't any polystyrene odour in the food.
I only made an effort to find the source when I was leaving that company and found out that it was in some village in Wong Tai Sin, not that near the MTR which was why I didn't go earlier.
After exploring roast meats in Hong Kong, the quality and taste was just not as good as this place and I just couldn't understand how the roast faan hups here won the other restaurants.

After googling this shop, I found an article which confirmed that this was the shop I was looking for because he also got the source from a PA at TVB.
Quoted from Weirdjun at Blogspot
"TVB 無論在天涯海角拍戲都要番黎鳳凰村 買飯盒"
Hence true as the crew are always working at different TV Stations.

Basically, the roast pork was damn good because it isn't too sweet or salty with a nice crispy edge.
The scallion oil is also amazing so is the salted egg.
Anyway, it was comforting that I found it, however dining in a restaurant with strangers is so different to eating out at different locations be it inside/outside from a polystyrene box with a bunch of celebs and crew.
I haven't dined at the TVB Canteen, but this hidden one at Clear Water Bay studios where the cops go for meals is damn good but not sure if it is still around.
The salted meat patty and the pan fried chicken is also recommended but I wonder if it is still around.
The service here is cocky but they deserve to be cocky!

I'm not familiar with what type of noodles this restaurant serves because it is listed as Gweilin noodles yet on the menu you find Chongqing Noodles and other goodies.
This is the lovely side of MongKok, you will find different Chinese joints by Ladies Market.

The snacks will blow your mind away especially the black tofu which I found crispy and spicy.

The Egg dumplings were unique and I haven't seen anything like it in Hong Kong because the dumpling skin is made of egg and inside was the usual dumpling filling.

For noodles, had the noodles in pig's stomach broth with chicken which is heated on a mini stove.

The soup was nice and peppery.
I had the Chongqing noodles and the portion was big compared to other places.
After mixing everything together, there is a nice Spicy kick to it with the occasional crunchy soybeans.
As well as these noodles, there are some black coloured noodles which I don't know what they are so a little description with the pictures might help.
I will probably come back and try the black noodles.

Non fried Chips at [Falala]

This place used to be Subway but it is now FALALA.
The interesting thing is that the decor is the same and they serve the same subs and ingredients as Subway so I wonder if Subway supplies them the ingredients etc.
As well as subs, they also do burgers and chips.
I decided to get the chips because they were non fried.

The chips were not as crispy as expected and fluffy in the middle as it hasn't been fried.
Overall, they were tasty with sauce but slightly weird.
To be honest, I think they need salt and vinegar because they are similar to Chippy chips which are soft and yummy.

Back for delicious Pho

I was exploring the new food court at Eaton and discovered my favourite pho restaurant there!
Without hesitation, I had the Special Fuhn and Avocado milkshake!
My bowl of Fuhn smelt so nice.
The first thing I did was to try the soup and it was savoury with the sweetness of the onions just as good as CWB.
Added the fresh Basil and chopped chilis to it and the broth comes alive even more.
The slices of beef were divine and the tendons were soft and gelatinous.
Last but not least, the noodles are also stars of the show.
As well as noodles, they have snacks.
Definitely will be back!!
