Birthday bash @ Fu ho Restaurant

It was an elders birthday so this place was booked to celebrate it.
As well as abalone, Fu ho is renowned for top quality Chinese dishes.
I've been here before so I knew the food was going to be good but this time it was better as they were more experienced so they knew which dishes to pick.
Started with the thick fish maw soup which was clear and packed with chunky pieces of fish maw.

I really loved it as it was just pure fish maw and the soup was like gravy which you could just mix rice into it.
Next was the goose web feet which were soft and evenly braised drizzled in heavenly Chinese gravy.
Rice was ordered with this because the gravy goes so well with it.

We had the crispy garlic fish which had a lovely aroma when it arrived.
Each piece of fish was indeed crispy and stayed crispy yet the fish was silky and soft inside.

The star of the show was the abalone as this place specializes in abalone so how could we not have it.
It was fresh shitaake mushroom with abalone and Jinhua Ham which are all meant to be eaten together.
The ham gives the abalone a nice salty flavour along with the mushrooms so everything was minimalistic but tasty.
To finish we had the house special fried vermicelli and I bow to that because it was so delicious, there was an eggy taste and each strand was evenly flavoured.
The elders really enjoyed their dinner so we will definitely come again.

Pinco Pallino (上環)
This restaurant used to be bam le garde or something but changed to Pinco Pallino at the beginning of the year which is when I visited.
It was been there for half a year but still not on openrice.
As a gnocchi lover, I got the gnocchi in tomato sauce.
All their pastas are handmade hence the shape is a bit different and these are like little pillows.
They were firm with a chew in a rich tomato sauce so I loved it.

Worth the travel to eat at Bobsang

Since I tried Joomak, I've have been a regular because the Korean dishes are different.Sadly Joomak is always crowded hence it is a bit of a wait.
Found out about Bobsang which is strikingly similar to Joomak hence I decided to go and try it out.
At first it was confusing because I kept seeing vegetarian buffets but it turns out that it is two restaurants Bobang Green and Bobsang.
I was advised to try Bobsang first because you can order the items that are available at Bobsang Green.
I know it sounds silly, but Tsing Yi is not as far as it seems because it is only one stop away from Lai King.
Started with a drink as it was a hot day.

The menu was wonderful because you get to choose and decide your own combinations with the rice, Tteokboki ingredients and sauces etc.

I had the Tteokboki because there were three sauces to choose from and chose the kale and vegan cheese with okra and vegan ham.
This is why I love Bobsang as you get to experiment with different ingredients without kimchi.
Since I am allergic to Kimchi, I am so glad the dishes at Bobsang do not revolve around kimchi.
As expected it was really tasty and mildly cheesey.
Next was the tofu with fried burdock and sesame sauce.
It was a nice contrast of soft and crispy textures infused with sweet sesame sauce dressing and seaweed which gives it that nice unami flavour.
For mains, I had the Veg Jeon which was colourful and delicious, again it was good there are non kimchi options.
It was loaded with purple cabbage, taro, carrots and mushrooms, the taste was good because you can taste mainly vegetables and it was well done as it was not oily.
They had softserve made with fruit!!
The red dragonfruit was sold out so it was replaced with peach while the other flavour was tofu.
Both were really impressive as they were really soothing especially the peach as you could taste a whole peach in it without the artificial sweetness.
I am definitely coming back for the buffet sometime but I hope they open another branch in TKO!!!

I was captivated by the decor which is why I dined here. There are lots of desserts and quite a few that are Taiwanese style.
Tried two desserts, the Taiwanese herbal jelly and the aiyu jelly in coke.
It was big blobs of herbal jelly hence not from the can, there was not a strong herbal taste and it was not too sweet.
As for the aiyu jelly in coke, there was lots of icy slush in the bowl with a faint coke taste.
It was garnished with a jelly gummy bear and a piece of lemon which made me smile.
Will return to try the other dishes.

[REview 6736] Chinese noodles joint in Ladies Market @ 豐味車仔麵 Fung Mei Noodle

Ladies Market is full of surprises for shopping as well as food!
You can find anything from Indian, Sichuan, Dimsum, Turkish Kebabs, Baked Potatoes to Chinese Cart Noodles.
At Fung Mei Noodles, it is a modern version of cart noodles set like a ramen bar.
There are two different broths to choose from, the usual one and the Sichuan one.
Tried the usual cart noodles with three toppings.
For the other bowl, I chose the Sichuan broth which was the star of the show.
The noodles tasted even better!!
I liked the seaweed option so chose that as you don't often find that on the menu and it gives it a nice unami taste to it.
Definitely coming back for the Sichuan broth.

I love Banh Mi so decided to try BMK because I like the way you can choose and customize your banhmi.
The meat didn't look that captivating so I just got the tofu as I wanted to eat some form of baguette with pickles etc.
The baguette was not toasted hence it was soft and chewy.
Sadly the pickles were too chunky and not pickled enough especially the carrots which tasted like fresh carrots dipped in vinegar.
Luckily the tofu was firm so my banh mi wasn't that empty after I got rid of the carrots.
The mayonnaise was the key element that rescued this banh mi because I love mayonnaise but there wasn't enough.
It would be great if they asked you if you wanted pate or not for the tofu version as not everyone is vegetarian.

This place is called Glow - Oyster Bar & Grill so how could I not order an oyster.
0 讚好
I had the roumegous oyster to begin with and I chose this as it had the strongest taste.
0 讚好
It definitely did not disappoint as it was full of flavour with a hint of creaminess.
I was craving for more oysters after that which means their oysters were good.
0 讚好
I was also there for parpadelle because it looked good on sociai media.
The sauce was rich and creamy so each strand was flavoured and hung the sauce well hence I was quite stuffed after finishing it.
My friend had the burger bites and chicken liver pate.
The pate was quite heavy which would go well with wine.
To summarize, the oysters and pastas are recommended.
