Hello Summer at [The Artisan Room]
2018-08-18 140 瀏覽
I was meeting friends at The Cobo House which is right next door.
Since I was early, I went inside [The Artisan Room] to have a look.
It was a chic and modern place for drinks and cakes.
The cakes in display cabinet were so pretty.
On the side they have high quality teas which you can smell.
You can also buy the Designtific Scientific Coffee kit which has ground coffee in vials, drip-bags, and sugar in micro tubes. Ground coffee is sealed in each injection bottle for freshness and each bottle contains just the right amount for a cup of coffee.
It was hot so I had the Longan Sparkling drink from the Hello Summer Series.
The Longan Sparkling drink was so good as it wasn't too sweet and not everyday do you come across sparkling drinks that are longan based.
Definitely coming back for cakes and tea.

Kwun Tong is another war zone for food!

As it was new, practically it was packed with hungry souls to see if this is another regular place for lunch.
Anyway, this was my second visit as everything was sold out, they do have non Taiwanese options like the strange noodle salad with salmon but what is the point of going there for that.
On this visit, I had the Taiwanese beef noodles.
It tasted slightly different compared to other broths because there were herbs in it like dong gwai so it tasted like bak kut teh.
The beef was soft and the noodles hung the broth nicely but overall I found the broth too weak and a stronger broth would be good but it wasn't too salty which was good.
Hopefully the broth will be intensified with a strong herb taste on the next visit.

[Review 6771] HONGKIE style TEA @ 善茶 Caring Tea

To be honest I hate Hong Kong style milk too which is so different to English Tea.
But anyway, I like the effort and theme of this tea stall as they serve HK style tea, Chinese Teas and other infusions with a Taiwanese twist by adding Black Pearls, Red Beans etc.
The latte series are interesting as they use Chinese teas with milk such as Silver Peony and Teh Kuan Yin.
I decided to order the Top Teh Kwan Yin which is part of the HK style yum cha series but strangely it comes with sugar since they frankly taste better without.
Luckily I had a feeling it was sweetened so I requested it without sugar because tea is just tea.
I don't like adding things to my tea but weirdly added grass jelly just because it was an option.
The tea was quite nice and the Teh Kuan Yin was subtle.
I am not quite used to drinking iced Chinese teas which are served hot at restaurants but it takes some time adjusting to.
Overall, it was refreshing on a hot day but I felt that the teas should have a stronger taste if they are served cold.
For every drink bought, they will give you a coin to put in the boxes at the side of the wall which $1 will be donated to a designated charity.

Salted Egg Cookie at Homie Cookies
Homie Cookies (尖沙咀)
This was my first time trying Homie Cookies even though they have been around for quite a while. There was a cookie counter at K11 with lots of flavours. I was attracted to the salted egg because I thought it would be interesting. The texture of the cookie was soft and crumbly but not quite the chewy texture I was looking for. As for the taste, it was not too soft and the salted egg yolk flavour came through but without the saltiness so the flavour was quite light.

[Review 6769] Runny cheese toast @ 文華饕記

This restaurant used to be a steak house called Carlo Riva but now it is a Hong Kong style cha chaan teng.
I was still hungry after dinner so went here to get a second round.
Ironically I sat on the same table that I sat before on the previous visit and ate something similar.
I had the HK style toast filled with runny cheese which was also a cheese as I had raclette when I went to Carlo Riva.
Anyway, the lady asked me if I wanted syrup with it and I was like Hell no.
Syrup and Cheese, hmmmmm but anyway they give you the syrup separately and luckily not poured on.
The cheese wasn't runny and it tasted like those melted cheese triangles wrapped in foil.
I don't know the brand they use in HK but in UK we have dairylea triangles.
The overall taste was ok but I would have preferred cheddar.

It's been a while since I have last been here for dinner buffet.
The buffet selection is quite Chinese which is great for the old and young while tourists can sample everything from noodles to dishes.
The roast beef was pink and tender, just how I liked it.
On the side, was a selection of mustards and delicious gravies.
There is plenty of seafood which is a must for Hong Kongers as they are just concerned in whether it is worth their money.
In the Japanese section, they had these cute little bowls of donburi!
For desserts, they have a range of Haagen Daaz icecream and shaved ice.
The ice is flavoured by the syrups and pineapple was my favourite.
As well as the buffet dessert selection, they are also serving classic temptations which include the banana split, cherries jubilee and strawberry sundae.
I love the Cherries Jubilee which was a whole plate of alcohol infused cherries with icecream.

I was drawn here by the cute dim sums and when I got closer, I realized it was an express shop for dimsum on the go!!

Kung Fu Dim Sum has joined the dimsum to go business but you can also eat in if you don't live nearby.

On each table they have outlets to charge devices using USB or plugs.
I was surprised that it was an open kitchen where you can see them cook the bojaifaans.

For food, the cute steamed buns were a must so I got one each.
Also got the spare rib bojaifaan as they were made to order.
Each of the steamed buns were very different.
The durian one was surprisingly nice and not too sweet compared to McDonalds cloyingly sweet D24 puree.
The Watermelon custard bun gave me another surprise.
I was expecting yellow custard but it was watermelon colour, and it even had black sesame seeds to imitate the seeds which is the right size in ratio in comparison to the bun!!!

As for the matcha bun, you have to eat with caution as the filling was as runny as water that it goes everywhere!!
