A nice surprise

I didn't have any expectations on this place but the pizzas looked good so went here.
The decor was quite nice with a rustic American feel to it with the ticket counter by the entrance.
I had the margherita pizza which was tomatoes and cheese.
It was somehow quite comforting because it was similar to supermarket pizzas in the UK.
The taste was to my liking and the tomato slices did not dry out when the pizza was baked and they were still juicy.
Also had the chicken wings which were plump and meaty but I felt that they needed more flavouring.

The drinks took me by surprise.
I ordered the HKD48 iced fruit tea thinking it was just the usual iced tea and it turned out to be a very big glass!The chocolate hazelnut hot and cold were both good.
Will be back for pizza!!!

Beyond Burger at [Texas Burger]

It's been a while since I last went to Texas Burger.
The menu and the restaurant layout has changed a little and the new menu is much simpler and better.
They have burritos on Mexican rice, burgers and pasta.
As well as the veggie burger, they have the beyond burger so I had that.
Unluckily but luckily the burritos was sold out so ordered the steak on spinach leaves instead.
The steak on spinach leaves was fantastic because the beef was tender.

The Beyond Burger was basic just like the first Beyond Burger I had at Green Common, it was just the patty, tomato and lettuce.
I liked the simplicity because it is good with plain ketchup and mustard.

Finished with the raspberry soda and pina colada.

To summarize, the beyond burger is affordable and delicious.

I have had trouble getting good Indian food on the Kowloon side but if you know where to look then you will find a lot.
Discovered this restaurant after dining at Anjappar.

What I like about this restaurant is that they have branches around the world which means they are really good with a uniform standard that should be the same worldwide.

Kailash Parbat is a modern Indian restaurant like Juhu Beach in Central which sadly closed down but the prices here are pricey but not as pricey as Central.
I ended up having the Lokandwala Frankierolls which are similar to wraps but much better stuffed with potato cheese masala served with spicy chips, pickled onions & green mint chutney

These rolls were really tasty but somehow couldn't find the  spicy chips, pickled onions & green mint chutney.

Also had the PATTICE CHEESE GRILLs which are just like grilled cheese:
They were filled with Ragda Pattice & cheese so another satisfying toastie and the crisps on the side help to give it some saltiness when you eat them together.
Drinks got even better, I love anything with cumin so had the coke and Masala Jaljeera.
The coke masala so was so damn good, it was a bit like coke with salted lemon.
The Masala Jaljeera was even better because it didn't have the sweetness of the coke, therefore it was more refreshing.

There are two branches of Shika.
Previously tried Shika in CWB a few years ago where they serve omakases and grills.
Went here because I was in the area and they had the donburi.
Miso soup was included.

Had the minced toro donburi which was topped with lots of finely chopped spring onions, tamago etc.
On the table, there was light and strong soy sauce which is good for different sashimis.
I used the strong soy sauce on the donburi since it was toro and it worked well.
Overall quite a satisfying donburi.

Chip in Fish & Chips branches out of SK

Chip in Fish & Chips is famous in SK and now they have branched into Wanchai.
 0 讚好

They serve a wide range of butties and chips for $48 and of course their signature fish and chips for $48.
I was quite shocked it was affordable being in Wanchai.
Anyway, I got the sausage butty and chips.
The chips seem to be chunkier than the ones in SK but then I haven't been to SK for ages so I don't know.
Anyway, they were nice with salt and vinegar.
The bap was crispy as it was toasted like a panini, a bit different from the soft ones.
Will be back for more chips!!!

Taiwanese fare with nice decor

I know it sounds lame, but went here because the decor was nice and there was a hunk in there!
The menu was the usual Taiwanese fare ie noodles, rice with mince etc.

Here was what we had:
Stewed Beef Noodle Soup:
I was surprised how clear the broth was yet it was full of flavour.
The beef was a bit tough and the noodles were thick like the udon.
Pun's Three treasures was really good, I like a bit of spice and strong flavours.
The Fried pork chop had a lot of seasoning and tasted strangely like Cantonese style char siu.
The fried squid balls had some bounce to it complemented nicely by the sauce.
Finished with the Oolong tea with cheese milk cap.
The cheese cap was evilicious and thick.
The Fresh Fruit Jasmine Tea was refreshing and a lighter option if you don't like cheese.

Comforting contemporary Chinese Fare

Madame Ching is a modern Chinese restaurant and roast house on Star Street.
Their Head Chef Son has done a good job in bringing diners a new way of enjoying Chinese cuisine.
He crosses culture and culinary lines which really works.
For drinks, began with the Drink affogato and Iced Lychee and red date tea.

Drink affogato:
[Cream gelato, homemade raspberry sauce, balsamic vinegar and soda water]

Iced Lychee and red date tea:

Here was the food we had:
++++
General Son Chicken:

This was chunks and big chunks of pure chicken meat in delicious crispy coating smothered in sweet and sticky syrup complemented by the fiery Sichuan peppercorns and chili.
I loved it as it was all lean white meat without any bones or fat.
++++
Brussels Sprout Uni:
To be honest, I haven't had any uni dishes as good as this!
I liked the way the uni was laid on the brussels sprout leaves which had a lovely colour contrast as well as taste.
Beneath the leaves there were some cream and some soy sauce dots which you eat together for a wonderful taste infusion of sweet creamy uni flavoured by the soy sauce.
All that is then contrasted by the dill and crisp raw brussels sprout leaves that wake you up from the creaminess.

++++
Hamachi Crudo:
This was simply delicious slices of hamachi drenched in thick moreish sweet and savoury sauce complimented by the chives and red shiso leaves.

++++
Roast Duck:

The roast duck was really comforting and how it should be. It tasted exactly like the ones in UK and you can visibly see it had been uniformly roasted by the colour and the smoothness of the skin..
I appreciate the way the thigh bone has been removed except the drumstick bone so you still have an intact quarter duck there.
The plate was clean and oil free which was really appealing before you even ate it.
It definitely sends me memories of eating in China Towns so I was really happy.
The pickles were good too, chunky with a nice crunch and pickled taste.
I know locals don't appreciate this but I am sick and tired of brittle bones in every bite and being served just skin, fat and bones.
++++
Brussels Sprouts roasted Jus

Vegetables are a must and I loved the fact brussels sprouts were on the menu.
On top they were garnished with crispy shallots!!
Nice bite size vegetables that you can pop in your mouth.
++++
For carbs, there was fried rice or the dan dan noodles.
Had the [Burnt ends Egg Fried Rice] which was soft and fluffy.
There was something different about the grains of rice, they tasted like Basmati rice/long grain rice although I am not sure.

++++
For dessert, finished with the [Ma Lai Go with Ovaltine Custard]:
In contrast to the local sponge cake, this one was much better as it was firmer and more cakey.
As I am English, I crave for cakes all the time and the thick ovaltine custard had a strong malty taste which was insanely delicious with a sweet touch that cured my dessert craving.

++++
To summarize, I was totally impressed with everything and this is how Chinese food should be.
FRESH, PRESENTABLE and DELICIOUS
With the contemporary twists to the dishes, Manuel and the team have successfully made me like some Chinese dishes that I would not normally eat in Hong Kong but definitely would eat here!
Hong Kong is so lucky to have the Pirata Group.
