Spicy dishes with a Kungfu kick!

There are so many branches of Twelve Flavours but I was surprised that this branch is under the Kungfu Dimsum group!

The menu is pretty much the same as the one in K Town and the menu is about the size of an A3 sheet!
I love the stir fried bowls where you get to pick five items with a spicy or soy sauce base.
Chose the spicy base which turned out a bit too spicy for me this time with a prominent kungfu spicy kick going on.
The luncheon ham is my favourite and this is a popular pic in Sichuan dishes.

It was all simply delicious with rice and the soft beancurd sheets are the spiciest as it absorbs all the spices.
Finished with the melon milk which was soothing while the passion fruit soda turned out to be a gigantic glass!

Lovely joint on Caine Road

A few weeks ago my friend said this Food Hall opened on Caine Road so I went to look for it.Went to Caine Road and couldn't find it but it turns out that my friend read the word Food Hall beneath Bon Licious.
Anyway, finally found it and went there for lunch.
Ordered the salad with mac n cheese.
Totally regretted not getting the steak because it looked good after someone posted it.

The mac n cheese was surprisingly good but the potato and sweetcorn salad was a bit disappointing because the potatoes were hard.
You could tell hard they were because they were giving me such a hard time trying to jab the fork into the potatoes.
For desserts, I had this damn delicious overnight oats strawberry cheesecake which was loaded with healthy oats.
At the bottom of the jar you could see more oats that you mix in when you eat.
Finished with Comptoir Jasmine Tea which was a great finish!
Anyway, terribly regretted not getting the steak.
Service was super friendly and there is a really cute guy there who is really nice.

Soup specialist at Food Creative

Went to Food Creative to see what was around and ended up having soup after some noodles.
There are various of soups to choose from ranging from HKD48-HKD68.
HKD68 is quite expensive for soup especially if you don't know if they are good or not so I chose the HKD48 soup to start with.
In terms of taste,  it was much stronger than Stewed in Cheung Sha Wan and there were more bits and bobs found in the soup.
The black fungus was very gelatinous and the taste of the soup was a tad salty with some MSG but better than the bland soup at Stewed not because it was saltless but it lacked pork which gives it more umami flavour.

Nepalese Noodles

Previously tried Funky Monkey in Jordan and I have always wanted to go back for the Nepalese food rather than drinks.Went to Food Creative recently to see what was around and Funky Monkey was there so went there for the noodles.

The only thing I wanted to try was either the momos or the noodles.
In the end got the noodles because Nepalese noodles are rather tasty.

The noodles came with tomato soup.

The noodles had lots of flavour but unfortunately too salty just like the noodles at this other Nepalese joint near SYP.
The tomato soup was very acidic, it tasted like the tomato brine that you get in canned tomatoes but in soup form.

Curry ramen

Normally I go to Coco for my curry fix where you can choose almost any toppings with rice but this time I spotted curry ramen so decided to give it a go.
I have not seen this offered at the other Coco branches nor advertised on their website.

The curry broth was thick and viscous and it tastes really different to their usual curry base which is basically a sauce.
It isn't spicy but still has that curry flavour which makes it a bowl of comforting ramen on a cold day.

Went to CoCo Espresso for some food and drinks.
The food and beverage options were a bit boring so just got the reuben sandwich which was rather hard and didn't really look like a reuben.
Somehow the cheese wasn't very fresh so there was a strange smell.

My friend has an affection for red velvet cakes so got that as well.

I found it rather hard and sugary.
The only thing that saved the day was the tea which was very fragrant and pleasant to drink.

[Review 7126] Not what you think @ Misu Seafood Cuisine

Not what you think

At the beginning I thought this was a Chinese restaurant from the Chinese name and the cover picture on openrice made it look Cantonese with the seafood fish tank.
After clicking into the restaurant profile I realized it was Japanese from the name MISU.
The pictures of the food wasn't Chinese so I decided to try it as it was located conveniently on one of the floors at QRE on the corner of my favourite Lee Tung Avenue.

One of the must order items is the Japanese style Abalone because you will only get this by forking out on an Omakase meal!
The abalone is served with abalone liver sauce which is rich and strong, I must say I was very impressed with their liver sauce but you don't get a clump of rice to dip the unfinished liver sauce like you do in Omakase meals.

Next was the scallop on blini with caviar!
I just love blinis and caviar so the the scallop was a bonus and there was some pumpkin mash in between which mellowed out the saltiness from the caviar!
Misu have their own source for seafood hence they are able to serve fresh seafood at a good price.
The lobster was on promotion for $9x and it was succulent and springy.

I loved the taste and texture of the lobster because it was delicate like  Red Prawns.
According to one of the guys at MISU, they said the lobster was Sashimi grade.
For the non-seafood dish, we had the suckling pig which was on a bed of apple puree.
Pork and apple are always a perfect match.
The suckling pig was to my liking as it was tender and the skin was thin and crispy without oiliness.
Dessert was shockingly good as I chose the Runny Honey Pancakes which I thought was pancakes dripped with honey but it had honeycomb candy which has this crisp but chewy texture followed by a bitter aftertaste that makes it not so sweet.

The pancakes were soft and fluffy which was heavenly with the caramel and cream cheese sauce in the middle.
Definitely a memorable meal because of the seafood and dessert.
