There are so many good noodles joints in Prince Edward.
I was captivated by this one because it was clean and affordable.
They have jars of pickled radish which must be tried.
They had a nice crunch but not tangy enough for my liking as they were a bit sweet.
As this place has congee, noodles and ricerolls I decided to try a bit of everything so ordered the plain ricerolls and plain noodles because most meat in Hong Kong is just................
The plain rice rolls were really good and all it needed was just some chili sauce and savoury soy sauce as opposed to sweet soy sauce which Hong Kongers just love.
The wonton noodles were also good as there was no alkaline taste.
The beef brisket wasn't as soft as anticipated so pork trotters are probably a better choice as they are recommended anyway.
The congee was damn good but had to wait for it to cool because when it was hot you couldn't really taste the salted egg.
As well as salted egg, it was loaded with preserved egg and vegetables.

Obviously I was attracted here by the Chinese calligraphy menu which obviously doesn't mean anything me to as I can't read it.
The owner thought I was taking the piss when I was looking for the printed menu and I am sure he took it to heart as he left the shop for a while!!!
hahahahaha
Anyway went in as there was no one and ordered the signature meat patty served in a wooden tub.
The meat patty had tin chut (Chinese ginseng or notoginseng) in it as well as gojiberries and black fungus.
When it arrived, it looked nice and it came with soup and a tea.
The soup was quite good as you could taste the mustard greens in it.
As for the tub of rice, it was a bit weird, the meat had a strange smell but I don't think it was the Chinese ginseng because it didn't smell like that.
Again the reason I don't really eat meat in HK is because it doesn't taste fresh.
But anyway, I quite like the gimmick here and I think they could gang up with Tai Wo Tang cafe as it is  a similar style.

I love Pandan and Kaya so had to come here for the Kaya Toast.
Went past this joint a while ago and it reminded me of Nyonya Coming which used to be nearby also on a hilly road.
Assam is slightly bigger and serves local snacks as well.
Unfortunately, I didn't try this place earlier as they have nice raised the prices for the Kaya Toast which previously was $16.

Basically, it was a toastie filled with bright green kaya paste.
I was suprised how delicious it was so ordered a second one which was just as good.
The filling is like a light fluffy paste that is not too sweet with bits of coconut in it and there was a fragrant kaya taste as well.
Will definitely come back  for toast and Chicken if I am in the area again.

The only thing that sucks is that it is on a dangerous spot as the buses look like they drive on the pavement as it is on the bend.
Lets hope a bus won't crash into that corner.

Didn't get as much kaya filling as my fellow friends hxfde n gxry but then obviously theirs were for a photo shoot because I've had that experience before where you can ask the chef for more truffle or sauce for better pictures.
Anyway they said it was the timing but I wasn't complaining about the toast but the kaya filling which wont increase/decrease with time.
The consistency of the kaya filling was also different, runnier here and paste like in the previous version.
The taste was quite good but not enough filling to taste it properly but will probably return for noodles for my singmalay series  along with Mean Noodles.
Recently went Assam for the Pandan toast which was much cheaper but the Kaya filling is different.

Oneironaut is person who explores dream worlds, usually associated with lucid dreaming which is definitely me.
I always have dreams within dreams and I love it when you know you are in a dream so you can do stuff which you can't do in reality.
Anyway, went here during off peak hours because it is nice and quiet, would have tried the hojicha latte but only had HKD50 on me so had the Jasmine Jelly and Jasmine Tea.
The Jasmine jelly was really good as there was a strong jasmine taste but I didn't like the coco de nata as it just got in the way.
Finished with the tea which was a good compliment.

I have always wanted to visit the Stone Houses in Kowloon but it has always been closed when I went.Finally it was open so went there for drinks.
The Irish Cream Milk was an interesting option so had that.
It just tasted like milk with a coconut touch to it because it is made with monins syrup.
If you wait a while it tastes better colder.
Also had the tea which is the usual tea bag tea.
I've seen this stuff in Shatkung. Those old pots and stuff but if you haven't then here is the place to see old bunker beds and suitcases.

KFC now has fried chicken coated with golden egg yolk.The fried chicken and coating is very different to UK so I rarely have it unless there is something new.
Tried the softserve with salted egg yolk sauce a few weeks ago which lacked sauce.
This time tried the fried chicken and chicken wings with salted egg yolk.
Clearly the fried chicken is CRUNCHY in HK from their Motto which I can't stand, Jollibee and Popeyes are better as the coating is much nice and the quality of the chicken is better.
Burger King has some seriously delicious fried chicken but sadly overpriced!!
Anyway, the fried chicken was not good as the salted egg yolk was only on the surface and it was just dry and hard.
The chicken wings were much nicer as it was evenly coated and not as hard.
But both had a spicy kick to it which wasn't very nice.
The lighting is interesting as it was avocado shaped, not sure how it is related to Chicken though.
