Best beef sando in my opinion
2019-04-11 976 瀏覽
The first SANDO I had was at Sunday's Groceries a few years ago where they put a runny egg inside.
Trending at the moment are these expensive Wagyu Sandos with the priciest from Wagyumafia.
Although I haven't tried Wagyumafia, I managed to try the one at PIQNIQ at H Queens.
The wagyu sando there was a bit too buttery for my liking in the sense the toast had too much butter.
Discovered SANDO.BA had a popup at PMQ Tastekitchen for a limited time so I was lucky I managed to go when they had it.
The menu was simple, clearly the sandos had to be tried.

There were different cuts of beef as well as IMPOSSIBLE MEAT.
Wagyu Sando was my firm choice but I would have wanted to try Impossible as well.
When the sando arrived, it was how I expected it to be.
The wagyu was red and moist, about 1 inch thick.
The bread was toasted just right in the sense it is still soft in the middle.
Comparing with other Wagyu Sandos, there are a variety of sauces that can be used.
Normally Teriyaki is used but this one was evidently tomato and I could smell onion in it as well.
It worked for me because I prefer tomato sauce over cloyingly sweet Japanese sauces and it wasn't smothered in butter either.
Funnily it smelt like McDonalds simplest Hamburger with just the onions and tomato ketchup.
As well as the sauce and bread, the wagyu was soft and meaty so it was the best Sando I had.
The bread used was from Garden Bakery which strangely tasted good as the stuff I usually get from the supermarket tastes crap unless I buy the continental type.
For sides had the lotus root chips which I thought were spicy even though they were not meant to be spicy.
The soba noodles were also good , they were topped with eggyolk shavings and karasumi which gives it a lovely fishy saltyness.

Back for the Frikandel

I am always here for the Belgian Fries and Long Fries which are consistently good.
This time I was back for the Frikandel which I tried before at La cornet Belge (closed down).
There is another Dutch place called MOKUM in Central that serves Bitterballen, Frikandellen, Mexicanos and Kasas Soufles.
Tried the Frikandel there and it was quite salty so lets see if the frikandel here is good.
The modern frikandel is a long, firm, skinless, dark-coloured meat sausage which is usually eaten warm.
It is cooked by deep-frying it.
While I was waiting I decided to order the chicken nuggets as well but the lady recommended the Japanese Kaarage which is fried chicken.
I knew it was on the menu but I haven't really had any good Kaarage in Hong Kong as most Japanese food is not authentic.
Anyway, decided to give it a try.
The frikandel was served exactly the same as the photos, sliced in the middle, topped with onions, mayo and tomato sauce.
Definitely delicious compared to the salty one I had at La Belgie.

The Kaarage also blew my mind as the ones in Hong Kong are always salty and dry hence the reason I was hesitant in trying it.
It turned out very juicy and the coating was light.
After squeezing some lemon onto it, the taste was amazing.
So apart from the chips, these two are also worth recommending.

Spotted this joint last week as there were Chinese Lions outside.
The English name is rather small so I couldn't see what it was called.
Anyway, as I was in CWB decided to give it a try as it wasn't very busy.
To my surprise, this place has two reviews already.
Anyway, ordered two small bowls of noodles one with soup and one without.
Both were quite spicy.
The one in sauce was very sweet while the soup one was better.
I was quite impressed with the meat and meatballs as they were fresh and tasty.
Overall, a cheap fix if you are in CWB.

Not many foodcourts have Cha Chaan Teng style food but at Hysan Place you can have the comfort of eating Hong Kong Style food in a foodcourt.
As I love cheese I ordered the French Toast filled with cheese.
NORMALLY BUTTER IS SERVED ON TOP BUT AS I WAS HEALTHY I ASKED FOR IT WITHOUT HENCE THERE ISNT ANY BUTTER ON TOP.
Inside the toast was generous cheesy filling which was evilicious.
To go with it I had the Fried chicken where they fry the chicken leg from raw.
Friend had the Malaysian Curry which was sweet and fiery.
Last but not least was the noodles, I was captivated as they had a choice of crab noodles as well as Nissan.
Their fried eggs are consistent good because while I was waiting for the food, I kept seeing all these perfectly sunny eggs being served.
Will definitely be back.

By day Central is buzzing especially during lunch hour where there are more people to restaurants. At night, it is peace and quiet hence I love to visit restaurants that are busy during the day.

Thai Chui are now doing a dinner for 2 and it only costs HKD268.
You get appetizers, soup, 2 mains, a vegetable and dessert.
Everything at a glance.

To be honest, I found it good enough for three.

For soup, there is a choice of tomyumkung but I chose the minced pork with Thai sausage to be on the lighter side but saying that there are lots of Thai sausages in it.

Appetizers:

The signature tender chicken which I have previously tried for lunch.

For curry chose the prawn because it isn't as spicy as the green and there was a lovely sweet coconut flavour to it.
Healthy Thai style medly of broccoli and cauliflower

Last but not least was dessert so I was really stuffed.

[Review 7336] My favourite smoothie joint @ Le Jus

Heard about this joint last month but just haven't been around when they were open.
Finally made it on a weekday when they were open.
On the menu, there were three different smoothies to choose from: pure fruit, fruit with milk and super smoothies which are meal replacements as they are filling.
I was drawn to the super smoothies because two of them had some really nice pairings.
LIGHT MY FIRE: WHOLE AVOCADO + CHICKPEAS + PISTACHIOS
RADIANT DELIGHT: AVOCADO + SWEET PURPLE POTATO + PISTACHIOS
I liked the way this joint has used pistachio as an ingredient in the drinks.
Being greedy I had the radiant delight with extra chickpeas.
The drink was an absolute bliss because it was natrually sweet from the sweet purple potatoes and it was thick and creamy.
The 3.6 Hokkaido milk definitely made a difference as the taste was more solid and satisfying.
Although Hong Kong is a developed country, it is hard to get REAL MILK these days as most are made with milk solids as stated on the labels.
Definitely will be back to try the lighter version of just avocado milk and pistachios.
They also have avocado seed tea which no other place in Hong Kong has served yet.

Relax Station used to be at the TKO food court which closed down recently.
Now they are at apm on the 2nd floor.
The menu is roughly the same.
The layout is slightly better than TKO in the sense that there is a central kitchen where all the food is served but in TKO each joint is separated and they have their own kitchen.

Decided to order the dandan noodles and the pork chop.
The pork chop came with chicken wings and egg.
0 讚好
The pork chop was well marinated as it was fully flavoured all the way through.
The wings and egg were there as a filler.
Next was the dandan noodles, it was rather sweet with a strong peanut taste.

Will try the Taiwanese beef noodles next time.
