I was captivated by the one person hot pots like 8 pots however when I got there I found out that they only serve it in the evenings which makes sense as everyone is in a rush during lunch.
During lunch and afternoons, they serve rice and noodles.
That day they ran out of herbal soup and beef shin so we had the beef noodles and the spicy noodles.
The beef noodles had a really strong beef aroma which you could really smell when it came.
My favourite was the spicy noodles because they come with pigs blood, fatty beef, meat balls and intestines.
The bowl seems to say soup and rice so it could be a sister restaurant to the TKO one.
Nevertheless, the noodles were good.
For drinks I had the Pure Kin Feng Tea which is sugar free and has a lovely tea fragrance.
Overall, it is a nice joint to go to on the week days and the staff were shockingly nice.
I was surprised they offered to turn off the air con as it was quite cold despite I had already finished my food and was just sitting there.

[Review 7415] Good dumplings and meatballs @ 家後

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/good-dumplings-and-meatballs-e3400851
I landed on this street as I was looking for materials, this shop made me look twice because it had Chinese and Japanese so decided to check it out.
The decor was interesting with a bit of a mismatch yet every area was different from modern to traditional.
The menu had noodles, dumplings and snacks.
Tried the dumplings and snacks.
Started with the crispy pork meatballs and fried chicken wings.
From the exterior of the meatballs you could see they were freshly made and fried.
After taking a bite I was quite impressed because I liked the pairing of pork and onions.
The chicken wings were soft and succulent.
They made the wings convenient by detaching one end of the joints.
The dumplings are a must try because they were tasty as well as creative.
My favourite was the spinach and pork as not many places use spinach and this one had a strong taste.
Pork and onions dumpling were filled with delicious sweet purple onions.
We also tried the boiled dumplings so went for the lighter fillings.
The chicken and sweetcorn was juicy with a good ratio of chicken to sweetcorn.
The pork and cabbage had a lot of cabbage in the dumplings.
Will definitely be back for the spinach dumplings.

[Review 7414] Sweet Treats at Igloo Dessert Bar @ Igloo Dessert Bar

Igloo Dessert Bar

Shop C, G/F, Pier 7, Star Ferry, Central
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/sweet-treats-at-igloo-dessert-bar-e3400815
Igloo Dessert Bar specializes in Gelato.
Lots of booths serve their gelato and previously I tried their white rabbit gelato with waffle at the eggette fair.
They also had a booth at Hofex.
As I was getting the ferry, I was craving for the white rabbit gelato again so seized the chance as it was on the way.
I love the white rabbit flavour because it was really comforting and tastes like Marshmallow spread in the UK.
The blue vanilla was instaworthy as well as creamy.
Will be back again soon as they keep launching new flavours.

A friend wanted to get some local stuff as gifts to bring back to the UK but the food here is very different so I suggested the Sachimas because they are similar to rice crispies but soft and chewy.
The box at Hang Heung were quite good because it was boxed nicely and you get 8 pieces for HKD55.
I tried a box myself and they were quite palatable but if you go to Taipan there are more different flavours to choose from.

Vegetarian selections at Kim's Bowl
2019-05-11 82 瀏覽
There are so many branches of Kim's Bowl but this one is my favourite because of the outdoor dining area, however if you work nearby you would probably be sick of this place!
My friends and I felt like going meatless for lunch so we got the rolls, bulgogi and the bibimbab and shared it between us.
I am glad more Korean joints are offering vegetarian options just like Bobsang and The Joomak.
For drinks, we had the new summer drinks.
Our food was ready in ten minutes.
The rolls and the bibimbab had the same vegetarian beef pieces.
The rolls were deliciously sweet and filling.
I liked the bibimbab as there were lots of vegetables which you mix together.
There is a sachet of spicy sauce which I left it out because the vegetables were tasty and didn't need it.
The last one was kimchi which was too spicy for me so I only tried the sweet beans and quail egg.
I've never been a fan of kimchi but my friend is!~
Finished with the new green tangerine Jasmine Tea and soda.
Personally I liked the soda as it was more refreshing, the tea is also good but it wasn't fizzy.

[Review 7411] Foodwise Wine pairing @ La Mer Restaurant & Lounge

As a FoodWise member, there are lots of events like wine pairing etc.
It was my first time joining the wine pairing event by FoodWise. I attended the event because I have always wanted to try the food at La Mer Restaurant & Lounge which is founded by celebrity Stefan Wong.
As well pairing it with fine wines from Bodegas Corral, the signature dishes from La Mer were also on the menu.Started with the beef tartare paired with Don Jacobo Crianza 2014.
By far this was my favourite beef tartare because it was made with tenderloin so the beef is lean and flavourful.
It contains capers and gherkins which make the tartare moreish.
Next was the French Onion soup, again flawless as it was loaded with onions which were soft and sweet, topped with a lovely piece of baguette with melted gruyere cheese.
The pairing of Don Jacobo Reserva complimented it nicely.
The main course was Wet aged US Prime hanger steak served medium rare to go nicely with the red wine.
The wine pairing was good because Carlos Rubio, CEO & Winemaker of Don Jacobo led us through the wines so for wine rookies like me, I ended up understanding more of the wine pairing journey and how different characteristics of the wine come by.
The last act was my favourite!
Cheese.........
On the platter was smoked cheddar, goats cheese, Stilton and Parmesan.
Goats cheese and Smoked Cheddar were my favourites and went well with the wine.
Overall, it was a great event so I will look out for other events organized by Foodwise in future.
All the wines we tried that night can be bought at FOODWISE.

A while ago there were queues for this joint but as there wasn't a queue that day I finally tried it.
They specialize in Malaysian Fare and Nasi Kerabu which is blue rice coloured by Butterfly Pea flowers.
As I wasn't really keen on the other dishes, I just had the blue rice with the egg and fried chicken (Ayam Goreng Belachan).
The blue rice was fragrant not in the sense of butterfly pea but because it was flavoured with herbs etc.
It was simply delicious with the semi cooked egg.
The chicken which had a really strong feet smell was delicious as it had a crispy coating and the chicken inside was tender.
Will be back for the green rice.
