Chinese curd rice drink

A while ago I saw photos of yoghurt and rice drinks in MK but never tried it because I just couldn't be bothered to wait.

Discovered this yoghurt drinks shop while I was at Whampoa so I decided to try it as they have the yoghurt rice drink.
There are various of flavours but I decided to try the original.
Out of all the three yoghurt rice drinks I have tried so far, this one is my favourite and I look forward to trying the MK branch as they have more flavours like Melon and grapefruit.
The name of the shop is normal compared to the Yogost which is yoghurt spelt in a weird way and according to their IG, there is a branch in Australia.
I liked it because the yoghurt was smooth and there was plenty of purple rice at the bottom that was chewy and filling.
The yoghurt drink had a strange viscous texture.
They also have these mini yoghurts which come in three flavours.

Got some juice from here randomly so just took some quick photos as I didn't expect it would be listed.
Basically you can choose any fruit that they have to be juiced.
I chose guava and bittermelon.
Despite deliberately choosing the bittermelon to balance the sweetness of the guava, it came out quite thick and sweet.
Overall, a bargain for HKD2X, but then this is the dark side of HK so it should be cheaper.

My favourite tea was sold out

Tried this in KwunTong and I fell in love with one of their teas in glass bottles.
I am so glad V walk has this shop as I was intending to get the tea again but it was sold out
It was a guy there that day who was the owner because if you google this shop, its the same person.
I like this branch because there is a small corner where you can sit down and have a drink.
This shop is hard to miss as it is next to the loo.
Anyway, on this visit, had the Roselle tea which is just Chinese Ribena in terms of taste.
Will be back for the tea in glass bottle so please restock it!

[REview 7692] Eating by the walled city park @ 城寨風味 Wall City Flavor

Eating by the walled city park

Wall city flavour is not new, it used to be a few streets away and now they have moved to the 1st floor at KCP over looking the Walled city park.
Finally tried it as a friend wanted to try and it was surprisingly good.
I thought it was the usual Chinese stuff but it was more creative than I thought.

For the mains, we had suckling pig, beef cubes with honey peppers and Japanese potatoes, Sweet and sour pork fritters, Stir Fried Vegetables and herbal chicken.
Started with the soup which was rich and strong.
The main ingredients in it were morel mushrooms, chicken and blaze mushroom.

I love morel mushrooms because of its intense earthy taste which is also commonly used in gravies.
In the soup, there was also dried dates and scallops which gave it a sweet taste.

++++++++
Suckling pig:
The fat in the middle has been scraped away so you are left with lean crispy pieces of suckling pig.
It comes with the usual sauces and sugar which can be used for dipping the crispy skin.

++++++++
Beef cubes with honey peppers and Japanese potatoes:
This dish was quite sweet with honey complimented by juicy bell peppers.
The star of the show were Japanese potatoes which were crisp and crunchy.
It was a good learning experience having this dish because I have always had an issue with potatoes in Hong Kong.
I always thought that the potatoes were different or they just weren't cooked properly but it turns out that HKers love hard and crispy potatoes which the opposite of Western desired soft fluffy potatoes according to the Chef.
++++++++
Sweet and sour pork fritters:
The ultimate sweet and sour pork served Chinatown banana fritter style with a crisp caramelized sweet and sour sauce coating.

I just assumed it was the usual sweet and sour pork with  silky sauce threads coming off it when you picked it up but it was far more better than that!
It was pork coated in batter with a caramelized sweet and sour sauce coating.
In UK we call these sweet and sour battered things S&S Pork BALLS!

This was the best sweet and sour pork I have ever had because of the sweet and sour caramelized coating.
It was just like eating a Chinatown banana fritter but with pork inside.
Biting into a thin caramelized batter coating with delicious pork in the middle was just sensational.
The shiny glaze of the pork pieces on a bed of caramelized sauce was just beautiful.

Definitely hats off to the chef because it was so delicious.
++++++++
Stir Fried Vegetables:
The claypot is heated then the Chinese broccoli is put in the claypot where it sizzles for a while thus getting aromatic from the ingredients they put in like dried shrimp etc.
The vegetables were aromatic with saltiness from the dried shrimps which reminded me of dishes from Tai O because of the salty shrimp flavours.

++++++++
herbal chicken:
Last but not least was the herbal chicken with Chinese wine another one of my favourites because there were lots of herbs in it like red dates, donggwai etc.
The soup was to my liking because of the strong herbs taste and it is also cooked with rice water from congee which keeps the chicken tender while it is being cooked.

++++++++
Definitely will take my folks here when they are back so I can challenge them to make it!

Fuji Tea has a large sitting area so went here for a drink.
Having had a bad drink from one of the drinks upstairs decided to try mango with red dragonfruit.
Highly recommended if you love mango as it is blended with real fruit.
To be honest, I thought it was quite a heavy drink which is almost like having dessert.
According to the picture, I got more mango than dragonfruit.

Finally Hong Kong has a good bakery, in expat terms a reasonable bakery because the ones around are just inferior and local due to ingredients and and the way they make them.
There are always queues and queues since it opened which is a good sign but I haven't been able to get what I want as it was sold out.
The items that I would want to try are the sourdough egg tart but again couldn't get it so I got a donut!
It was good in Hong Kong terms in the sense there wasn't any rancid oil and the donut was soft and fluffy.
Inside it was filled with lots of jam.
Overall, it was not bad but I don't think I tried something that represents the BAKEHOUSE properly.
The trouble with the donut is that it ranks the same level as Marks and Sparks.
For real Western bakeries, it is just hard for them to produce a crappy donut because it is just fried dough!

Cha:fe is on the ground floor entrance so you can't miss it if you are coming to the mall from that side.

I love toasts so went here for the egg toast.
It was dressed with ketchup so it tasted good and not weird salad cream.
The bread was toasted evenly and not too hard.
Finished with coffee which was satisfying.
Will try other items.
