The name Roast Pot intrigued me, so I went to try it.

I can see how it calls themselves Roast Pot as they are a subsidiary of Tai Hing Roast, and this place mainly serves Hot pots, hence Roast Pot.

Another shop to compete with Little Fat Cow a few shops away.

Anyway, got some soy sauce chicken with BBQ roast pork.

I was expecting it to have the same standards as Tai Hing Roast, but it wasnt that good.
Ordering chicken is a gamble, it depends which part they give you.

My first impression here is obviously not that good, I got chopped up chicken wing, which is skin and bone to me.
I don't even know why they bother serving that, there is nothing to eat.
I wish I had just got only roast pork and rice, and it would have been much cheaper for $22!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the bad impression, I was left drooling at La Creperie across the road!
Luckily the BBQ roast pork saved the day, the portion was quite generous and it was lean and juicy.
The ginger and spring onion was a bit weird, the oil sauce peanut oil which spolt the ginger and spring onion aroma.

The set came with VITA's low sugar lemon tea, basically it tastes the same as the normal one.

[Review 751] Rocky Road Swiss Roll @ 聖安娜餅屋 Saint Honore Cake Shop

A dreamy swiss roll filled with chocolate cream, marshmallows, and crunchy chocolate balls.

The swiss roll is slightly bigger than the normal big swiss rolls priced at $38.
In terms of price, it is definitely dearer than the local chinese bakery, however the quality is assured, at least there will not be eggshells in it.

Compared to the upper end swiss rolls, this would be classified as the economic version.

Anyway, the presentation of the swiss roll was nicely done, it was decorated with castor sugar patterns of leaves and flower shapes, almost like a Japanese sakura roll.

Taste:
The ends of the roll were slightly dry, but the centre was moist.
As with all St Honore bakeries, it has their standards, so it wouldnt taste bad, infact it tasted really good, especially the marshmallows, it melts in your mouth, and the marshmallow dosnt have a skin covering it.

[Review 750] Refreshing fruity ice @ 許留山 Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert

There are two types, one served with red beans and the other served with sugar jelly.
I ordered the sugar jelly one, because most of the elements I liked such as strawberry, peach, sugar jelly, pearls.

It was presented on a bed of fruity ice, with sugar jelly, strawberry slices, peach slices, dragon eye, pearls and another scoop of fruity ice on top.
Overall, it was pleasant, not too sweet.
The pearls let the dessert down as it was hard and chewy.
I was impressed with the strawberries because they were red and ripe.

The texture of the fruity ice was slightly like sorbet, but since it contained hokkaido milk, it was not so moist, but brittle and dry.
It didnt taste that milky but there was hints of dragon eye in it.

[Review 749] Fairly weird Fairwood tea set @ Fairwood 大快活

All the stuff tasted ok, but it was a weird combination, savoury and sweet.
The low sugar green tea was sweeter than claimed.
The toast was fried more like toasted.

[Review 748] Jade noodles part 2 - Jade is gem @ 冠泰海南雞飯泰國菜館 Kwun Thai Restaurant

Last time I came, I didn’t try the stir-fried Jade noodles, today I finally tried it, it looks slightly different from the picture. The shredded egg omelette was stir-fried egg in the real thing.
The noodles were very moist, and the beanshoots, thinly shredded green peppers made it even more so.

Overall I liked it a lot, but the portion was small.
The only thing I felt that didn’t match was the smoked duck breast, it was not fresh because it was pre-cooked and imported.

I would have preferred it if they used proper meat Thai style rather than cooking noodles with non thai stuff.

As well as noodles had the chicken with rice, the chicken breast was very tender.
The rice was served in the shape of a pyramid.

[Review 747] No goose pimples for me!! @ 鹵八鵝店 Lo Pak Restaurant

Shop C, 20 Spring Garden Lane, Wan Chai

Whenever I go for goose at this place, the locals always warn me that eating goose will result in acne attacks, well I have had it for a few consecutive days and it doesn’t happen to me!!
Although the thought of an acne attack sends goose pimples forming!

Same with fried food, without drinking their so-called “herbal tea” I do not get sore throats either, the only scientific reason I can think of is that the fried food hot, so it probably burns the throat resulting in a sore throat the next day.

My favourite dish here is the goose slices (sliced goose breast) with rice, it is pure meat, and the skin has also been removed.
I always request it without sauce, because it softens the rice, and the sauce is very oily and I wonder how long its been there after cooking the geese in it.
Instead I prefer the sauce from the bags, it is much more concentrated and less greasy.

The goose slices are rich, but also depends which part they slice it from, one of is much nicer without the artery running through it.
As well as goose, I also tried the liver, very big in size too.

Although the food is good, I think the locals have a better digestive system than me, because the hygiene of roast meats in Hong Kong isn’t that good. They are usually left by the window, and sometimes there are flies.

[Review 746] I want my more shopping space! @ Marks & Spencer Food Store

So glad they opened Marks and Spencer’s at Wan Chai, a perfect location, in Causeway bay there is City super to compete with and in Admiralty it is too close to central.
It is located conveniently where Oliver’s sandwiches used to be, a busy spot where international people pass by to get to the exhibition centres.

I was surprised at the speed it was opened.

Anyway, glad to find my local treats there, although I couldn’t find my chicken liver pate.
It was hard shopping there, as with all chinese places, it is very tiny and cramped.
I wish there was space space space!!!

There was too many people milling about, so I just grabbed two drinks, pineapple with lime and apple with strawberry and rhubarb.
Both were very citrus and tangy.

My future shopping list!
Custard
Victoria sponge cake (in the uk it comes as a whole cake rather than a tiny slice!)
Quiches
Cocktail sausages
Scotch eggs
Crunchy bacon
