I was attracted to this TASTY joint because of all the "waffle" reviews with THICK CREAM.
I thought it was a good idea because the Hong Kong style ones are just peanut butter, ice-cream and red beans.
The product shot also showed thick cream too, but when I got mine there was only a tiny splodge, the cream was so meagre and it shows in the photo!!
I felt that the stingy cream filling is like Hong Kong sandwiches where there is nothing in the middle but only the edges to look like it had been filled.
Where did the cream go???????????
Anyway, it still tastes nice!
I hope on my next visit there will be lots of cream, at least 1 inch thick like the previous reviews~

[Review 1094] Super staff at Hong Kong Super Restaurant @ 香港超級餐廳

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/super-staff-at-hong-kong-super-restaurant-e2166498
The name for this restaurant in English is: Hong Kong Super Restaurant
I thought the food was OK, slightly overpriced, but the Singapore noodles were well flavoured but the noodles were too dry.
The staff were super though, while I was there, this taxi drove onto the pavement, and one of the superstaff spotted that and got the customer away from the taxi in time.

Not in a million years would I go to Ma On Shan, but for some reason I was required to go, so I checked my to eat list and found this restaurant.
I was looking forward to peach and bird's nest dessert and the peach and glass noodles dessert.
They are probably the same, but one is mixed with glass noodles and the other with birds nest.

I am not a fan of Chinese buns, but these seem delicious, the reviews say they are not that sweet.
Unfortunately, the buns were selling like hotcakes.
The red tag means it is sold out already!!
Next time I'll try coming earlier!
SSG's to eat list:
Taro Chinese bun
Purple sweet potato bun
Custard bun

Shop D, 150 Wanchai Road, Wan Chai

Perhaps I went on a wrong day or wrong timing.
I got the curry whelks and squid, it was not hot.
I felt that it was the leftovers that could'nt sell the day before.
The curry was thick, the colour was dark chocolate.
The whelks and squid was disappointing, they were both overdone and too chewy.
The whelks were gritty too.

[Review 1090] Rotisserie roast chicken in Sai Kung @ Roast Sai Kung Takeaway

Before 15+J opened, I was quite excited about this new shop.
When I got there, it reminded me of the roast chickens in Europe, the Rotisseries are common all over France and Belgium.
I ordered a chicken leg and small ribs.
It was quite funny, because the waitress insisted I was ordering "one chicken legs"
I know it saids "chicken legs" on the menu, but since I am ordering one it should be "one chicken leg" not "one chicken legs",
I had to say I wanted "one chicken leg" not "leg" because I only wanted the one and not pay for two.
Anyway, the chicken came with gravy, there was normal gravy, and this other red looking one so I chose the normal gravy.
As well as that I ordered the ribs, there was original and Barbeque, so I chose Barbeque, and the waitress said in a commanding tone, that the sauce is mixed with the ribs.
I was tempted to order the roast vegetables as well, but they didnt look that appealing at the counter.
The roast potato looked like fried potato wedges.
When I tried the ribs, they were tough and dry, the barbeque sauce was non existence.
As for the chicken, it was slightly better, but could have been better.
All I could taste in the chicken was a strong smoky flavouring and it was too salty.
I was disappointed because it was burnt and the chicken skin was not intact which defeats the purpose of the rotisserie, because the rotisserie is supposed to rotate the chicken so that it is evenly roasted.
From the burn marks on the skin, it looks like it has been grilled and not roasted.
I suspect only whole chickens are roasted, the others are grilled.
The gravy for the chicken was tasteless, pity I forgot to take a picture.
As well as this place, there is a roast chicken place at Fortress Hill too.

I love Phillipino food when it is not too oily, the food here is just right.
Phillipino food is normally sugary and also sour because they like to add Lemon or Vinegar to their food.
I started with a plate of noodles, the Pancit bihon it was thin rice noodles cooked with soy sauce some lime juice.
There are two sizes: a plate for $10 or a plate for $15, I knew I was going to like it, so ordered the bigger portion.
The noodles are flavoured nicely with notes of lemon. I added extra chilli vinegar to it as well, which made me even hungrier.
After the noodles, I ordered the Brazo de Mercedes (Egg Meringue Roll) which is considered a cake in the Phillipino cuisine.
There were four cakes to choose from, Taro roll, chocolate roll, egg meringue roll, and this other one which I didn’t know what it was.
Brazo de Mercedes (Egg Meringue Roll)
It is a rolled cake made of egg whites with a rich custard filling, or sometimes lemon.
The one I had contained some lemon flavouring.
The texture of the meringue was interesting, it was denser than normal meringue, almost like cake.
I wondered if they added some flour into the meringue or it was the method they used to make the meringue.
Italian meringue is also dense, but this one is much denser, it feels like your eating a cake.
In the Phillipines, they were colonised by the Spanish, some foods were influenced by them.
I tried the ensaymada, which was slightly Spanish.
ensaymada
Ensaymada is a brioche made with butter instead of lard, and topped with grated cheese (usually aged Edam, known locally as "queso de bola") and sugar. Upscale versions of ensaymada are also topped with butter cream.
The one I had was slightly bland, so I put some of the sweet meringue on it, which made it just right.
In general Phillipino food is colourful, from purple cakes to green puddings.
