The steamed meat patty here resembles the famous meat patty at Tai Hang.
Although I havent tried the one at Tai Hang, I do not have any expectations for it.
I just tried it for fun because the appearance looks like the meat patty at Tai Hang.
The Chinese dishes here are in response to the Farmhouse dishes at Maxim's.
Same as Maxim's, the set comes with soup, drink and rice.
The meat patty was a mass lump shaped like a mini hill with a salted egg yolk placed on top.
For those who do not know or havent seen the meat patty at Tai Hang will be wowed by it!
The meat patty was on a bed of sliced courgettes, I really liked how it was steamed, because the patty didnt stick to the plate, and the meat juice from the patty was at the bottom of the dish and soaked by the courgettes.
The texture of the meat patty was quite firm, not as soft as the good quality ones.

It's another case of been there, tried that.
This place is a pub, but serves lunch at lunchtime!
There are about ten choices for chinese dishes with rice and soup, when I ordered I didnt know you could pick two choices.
So I picked bittermelon and porkchop.
The bittermelon was ok, the porkchop was very soggy, almost if it was cooked in soup/water.

Last time I had the chicken, it was amazing, so this time I came back for the ribs.
Same as last time I got the set, which includes a drink and a side order
For the side order this time I had the fruit salad.
The fruit salad turned out to be really good because the product shot on the menu illustrates it as fruit with salad cream when it was just pieces of fruit.
If I knew that last time, I would have got the fruit, it had fresh blueberries and strawberries as well.
The chicken tasted as good as last time, with lots of herbs on it (the photo doesn’t show it that well).
The ribs were nicely done, it was covered in rich sauce which you can see from the photo.
I think next time I will leave some space for dessert.

As I ventured for more Filipino food, I discovered some items were very similar to Chinese food, and many other items were Spanish and Malaysian.
In the cabinet I saw these white buns looking like the Chinese steamed buns, it turns out they are the same called Siopao.
There are several fillings, Asado (Meatball), bola-bola (Pork), chicken, beef, shrimp or salted duck eggs.
I prefer the presentation of the Filipino buns because they were hygienically wrapped in wrapping.
Anyway, the two items I had were taro Swiss roll and the chocolate Swiss roll.
Taro Swiss roll:
Chocolate Swiss roll:
I do not think anyone could possibly not like it, the chocolate taste was so rich. The roll was soft and not moist.
The roll had chocolate sauce in it NOT chocolate cream! The sauce was just heaven, it was like liquid chocolate. The texture of the sauce in the roll and on top of the roll was gooey and viscous, a bit like liquid yolk.

[Review 1146] Delicious but stingy on the second order @ 和花亭壽司 Nagoyaka Tei

Been here many times before because the food was good.
This time ordered the sliced conch and wasabi warship and a grilled salmon head.
The sliced conch warship was so nice that I decided to have a second order, but on the second order the amount of conch meat was barely visible.
I wish they had said to me it was sold out instead of giving me one that dosnt really contain any Conch meat in it at all.
The conch warship was rice wrapped in seaweed paper and topped with conch and algae.
The first one was really nice, there were at least two slices of Conch meat on the sushi.
There was snow fungus in it as well mixed in sweet wasabi sauce that is not spicy.
The second one was so disappointing, I could only find one tiny piece of conch meat
Anyway the conch meat and algae basically has a slippery texture.
The salmon head was burnt, you could see the black and broiled skin!!
I had the fun of bursting one of the broils!
fish with skin broils!! its burnt LOL
The salmon head was not on the a la carte menu, but featured outside, it was a bit stupid that they had all these promotions outside, but when you order you can't find it anywhere inside the restaurant!
I had to take a photo of the promotion otherwise I wouldnt know what promotions they had.
I wonder if anyone else has walked in without realising the deals featured outside!??

I am not keen on Chinese snacks, so I did'nt try the dried nuts and fruits.
However, saw some interesting pastries in the cabinet, so tried those.
There were two types that both cost $2 each.
One was round in shape, the other was long and round.
The round one was called "yaat hau so" (bitesized puff), and the long one was called "muck dim so" (wheat dot puff).
I just knew they were both savoury, so asked them what the different was, and they said the round one was made with sesame, and the long one was made of spring onions and sesame.
To be honest, I do not like sesame, but I like sesame oil.
I feel that sesame dosnt have a function apart from its crunchy texture.
It also comes out of the digestive track undigested!
But anyway tried it for fun.
After paying, they asked me if I have tried it before, and of course I had'nt because if I had, I would know what they were.
Anyway, after replying no, the person at the shop said "After eating it, you will know (sick goh lei wui ji)"
I was left dazzled, what will I know...........?????
Did I miss out any words in his sentence??
So........
I will know its delicious??
I will know my future??
I will know my what??
Hmmm very interesting!!
Maybe its a Chinese fortune puff instead of a fortune cookie.
Anyway, the answer, the answer from the snack!
I broke the puff in half to take a picture, amazingly, I couldnt see any whole sesame seeds which was good because I dont like them.
As for the spring onions, there was one piece in it.
The dot must be the pink ink dot at the top of the puff.
I tried eating it, and was surprised the filling inside was grounded so finely that it was velvety.
The texture was similar to those chinese peanut things, that are dry, sandy and velvety.
Although the spring onions couldnt be seen, you could really taste it.
If it was less salty it would taste better, and they should be eaten fresh before the oil flavour takes over.
So the answer I got was......
I ate a puff, and I could taste real spring onions~

Got this drink from Hung Fook Tong because it claims to be sugar free like many other "so called" health drinks.
It was truly sugar-free, the taste was pleasant with some bitter taste, but there was natural sweetness in it.
Next time I will try the other healthdrinks.
