Thanks to the Paul Lafayet group for these new Fragrant blossoms macarons.
They come packaged in a lovely box.
As well as the new floral selection, they had the Bailey's dome.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fragrant blossoms macaron set:
There were six flavours: violet, poppy, rose
orange blossoms, Osmanthus, and vanilla.
My favourite flavours were the orange blossom and violet because they taste nice and these flavours are rare.
The orange blossoms was really fragrant and delicate and the violet was unique because I have never tried it before.

[Review 2517] Better atmosphere in the evenings @ 黑瀧板蕎麥專門店 Kurotaki

Came here for a late lunch to try the noodles that I did not try on my last visit.
I have been here quite a few times and was surprised that I had to give it a negative review this time.
Since it was lunchtime, the lunch sets were posted on the entrance but as I was specifically here to try something on the A la carte menu I asked if the al la Carte menu was still available and I got this extremely rude reply from the receptionist:
"WHAT"
so I repeated myself, do you serve the a la carte menu as well?
Then there was this disgruntled WHAT AGAIN?
So OK, perhaps she doesn't understand ENGLISH so I said "MENU" instead of a la Carte and she finally understood.
Anyway, finally sat down and ordered the noodles which took ages to come, while I was waiting, one of the waitresses came over and asked if I needed anything else because they were taking their last orders.
I would rather they chase up my current order instead of prompting me if I needed anything else and perhaps the late arrival of my food was a punishment because the receptionist was irritated.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soba trio:
Basically there were three different sobas, from left to right: Inaka Sobas, Shiretoko Zarusoba, and Sarashina.
My favourite was the Shiretoko Zarusoba (green), the Sarashina soba itself was salty without the dipping broth and the Inaka Soba was too al-dente and tasteless.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soba soup:
It was my first time trying this soup so I did not know what to expect but I was expecting it to be refreshing according to the previous reviews, but the yuzi taste was not refreshing at all, I could only taste yuzu peel.
However the boiled soba taste was strong.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Overall, I would only recommend the Chilled sarashina sesame soba with natto and Chilled Shiretoko Zarusoba with sesame and black garlic oil sauce.

[Review 2516] Ukkokei ramen RON from Japan @ 烏骨雞拉麵 龍 Ukokkei ramen RON

烏骨雞拉麵 龍 Ukokkei ramen RON

Shop A, G/F, Kimberley Mansion, 15 Austin Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/ukkokei-ramen-ron-from-japan-e2297392
Ukkokei ramen RON is from Japan and I was lucky to try the ramen otherwise I would not have ventured here because it is not near the MTR.
The logo is a big red circle with Dragon written in the middle, slightly similar to the the logo for Kurotaki (Black dragon).
Basically they have three types of noodles with four different broths: Miso, Tonkotsu, Shoyu and Okinawa salt.
The broths here all have Silkie chicken in it.
All the noodles are topped with Menma, fried onions, Japanese roast pork and an egg.
On the table they have condiments such as preserved ginger, black pepper, garlic and shichimi, but I felt that the ramen tasted good enough without them.
The different ramens are paired with different broths to bring out the best taste.
As a personal preference I like the thin white noodles.
The bowls that they use are quite special too (forgot to take photo) because there is some minerals smeared at the base which keeps the temperature constant for longer and said to make the noodles taste nicer too.
(see magazine clipping)
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Miso broth ramen:
The broth for this was delicious, it was thick and strong with a layer of oil on top which keeps the noodles hot.
It was paired with the curly ramen because more soup could adhere to it giving it a strong taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Okinawa salt ramen:
The taste of the soup was lighter than the Miso but not that salty even though the broth is salt flavoured.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Thin white noodles tossed sauce:
This one was my favourite because they used the thin noodles and the sauce was rich and every strand of noodle was flavoured.
Each mouthful was delicious with spring onions and crispy fried onions.
They only serve 20 bowls per day.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Personally I liked the Miso broth and the noodles tossed in sauce.
For improvements, it would be great if there was an English menu because it took me quite a while to figure out the ramen and what to order.

Again went to LabMade because of the new Mint chocolate chip with baileys icecream flavour.
The appearance and colour reminded me of HD's mint leaves and chocolate because it was not green.
Overall the icecream was nice with pieces of chocolate and there were crispy bits too however it was slightly bitter.

[Review 2514] The best of black and white @ 麥當勞 McDonald's

When I saw the promotion for these black and white burgers, I just couldn't wait.
In China, they served these Black and White burgers before but they were mini ones and each box had a mini black burger and a mini white burger, but in Hong Kong McDonald's are smart because the burgers are standard sizes so you have to go again to try the other one.
The new series are quite Taiwanese style because of the Taiwanese pearls, but the burgers themselves were not that Asian because they contain mashed potato and lovely mushroom/truffle sauce.
As soon as they were launched I ordered the McDelivery because there would probably be a huge queue of curious people ordering the black and white burgers.
These burgers are the best burgers McDonald's has ever served in Hong Kong because in other countries they have other creations which also taste good such as the Cordon Bleu that was served for a limited time in the UK.
As well as the burgers, they also had other new items which were: Smoky hot wings, Bubble tea and Black and white sundae which I ordered as well.
At the restaurant, it was an interesting sight, there were lots of rice options on the menu!!!
Both black and white burgers have mashed potato base and lettuce, whilst the white burger has pepper mushroom sauce for chicken and the black burger has TRUFFLE sauce to pair with the beef.
And yes it really is TRUFFLE SAUCE!! but truffle is getting cheaper these days because you can get truffle essence.
The burgers reminded me of the trial McD's German chicken sausage burger which was also delicious because of the potato patty.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black burger:
(Quoted from McDs) Discover the dark side of flavour with our new mashed potato base burger smothered in truffle sauce, topped by two 100% beef patties wrapped in deep black squid ink bun with bacon.
The taste of the beef surprised me, it actually had some charred taste like Burger King because the bacon was quite smoky, and the truffle sauce was really nice.
Since I am not fond of beef, the charred beef taste was too strong for me.
I just felt the bun could have been bigger and the squid ink taste could have been stronger.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
White Burger:
(Quoted from McDs)Discover the white side of flavour with light and creamy mashed potato base burger smothered with pepper mushroom sauce, topped with crisp chicken patty, wrapped in light wheat bun with bacon.
This was my favourite of the two because I always prefer chicken and the mashed potato beneath it was really silky and I am not joking the pepper mushroom sauce was a perfect match.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Supersupergirl's Black & White Burger:
This is not on the menu, but you can buy both and swap the top part of the bun.
Personally I loved it because I was able to sample the best of both worlds with mushroom and truffle sauce!
Again the chicken one tastes the best.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Smoky hot wings:
The colour of these chicken wings were bright orange.
For people who cannot eat spicy foods, they were extremely spicy just like the spicyness of the McCurry burger.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bubble tea:
Basically it was Hong Kong style tea with pearls!
I was given their standard straw and the pearls were too big for the straw and got stuck!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black and white sundae:
This is icecream topped with caramel, black and white pearls.
The taste of this sundae was delicious because icecream with caramel can never fail and the pearls made it fun!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Both burgers are really worth trying, especially the White Burger and the Black and White sundae!!
The quality and taste of these burgers were certainly well above average for McDonalds standards.

There are three branches of Wai Kee Noodles in Shamshuipo, and it seems that one of the them is particular good depending on the guy who cooks it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Instant noodle with liver:
Previously the liver at this branch was overcooked but this time it tasted as good as my first visit at the branch next door.
The liver was velvety and soft, there were lots of slices of liver in my bowl and I liked how thinly they were sliced.
However the instant noodles were slightly mushy and clumped together but the broth was great because it was boiled from pure liver and ginger and it was clear too.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
My friends noodles.

Thanks to Mjqueen7e for getting me these delicious cookies from Island East Markets.
It is a great market for cafes and restaurants to participate.
These cookies are made by 18 Grams which I have always wanted to try but never got round to going because the cafe is small so I wasnt sure if there would be a table if I went and the MK branch is too far away.
They are assorted cookies with the following flavours: Green tea and almond, chocolate an nuts, black sesame and almond.
My favourite was the chocolate because it had walnuts in it too, while the green tea one was light.
These cookies reminded me of the cookies at Arome bakery because of the colour and size.
